I think everyone enjoys getting to peek into other designers scraprooms, right? It's fun to see how others store and organize the same types of products and tools that so many of us have. And while many of us have totally different ways of setting up our spaces, or have totally different types of spaces that we're working with, you never know when you'll see a new way of storing or organizing products that you can incorporate into your own space.

Since moving into our house last year my scraproom has been in so many configurations, but so far this is my favorite. This room is smaller than my last but it all seems to fit and work pretty well. The Desk being in the middle of the room allows me to walk all the way around it to get to the shelves on either side, it also makes the perfect place for a friend to scrap when they visit, allowing us to sit across from each other as we work and chat. Let’s have a look around.
My father in law built me my desk for Christmas about years ago and I LOVE it! To me it’s the perfect table; I usually stand while I work so the fact that it’s counter height is a major plus. Because it is my main workspace it holds the majority of my tools that I use most, but because of its size they don’t get in my way. My desk also has book shelves on the ends of it, but we’ll take a peek at those in a bit.
As I mentioned above I like to keep the tools I use lots within reach, and this is how I do it. The white carrousel holds things like scissors, tape runners, tiny attactcher, cameo blades; small stuff like that. The pen holder does the obvious holding my copics and journaling pens; it’s the one thing that I bought when our LSS went out of business years ago. The round three tier stand holds some of my inks, some glitter, paints and even has a space for my dish of sequins. The wire stand holds enamel dot on top, my packaged flair and then on the bottom is where I store new goodies that I don’t want to forget to use up.
This is the left shelf of my desk; it holds my patterned paper which is organized mostly by manufacturer, My Doodlebug basket of embellishments and their Collection Kits. On the bottom of this shelf is where I store my stamp catalogue and albums that I am working on filling up.
The right side of my desk is where I store my smaller paper pads. These little buckets are perfect for grouping small collections of my other stuff like sets of chipboard alphas which are also stored here. I can usually find at least a few of my son’s toys in these as well, but I guess it’s all just part of being a mommy.
The shelves to the left of my desk is where I store my 12x12 cardstock by color, since I’m a white background scrapper so I’m afraid most of these haven’t been touched in quite some time and may be just a tad dusty. I also store my other baskets of DT embellishments in baskets on the center shelf, keeping the separate allows me to find what I need for assignments much faster than if it was all mixed in. The center shelf was also the only extra space I had to fit the TV in there, it’s a little high but it works.
The basket on the lowest shelf is where I keep some of my stamps, blocks and cleaners. The rest of my stamps are stored in cube drawers. I have all my stamps catalogues in a binder by category, because I have so many this help me find what I’m looking for in a snap. It took some time but was totally worth it.
On up here is where I keep the rest of my loose flair badges and my glue gun. Not only do I use these two things frequently but it helps keep them both out of tiny hands. I like to have my flair in a dish so I can go through them and try them out on projects without having to open a bunch of packs.
Other embellishments that I tend to use a lot are these little plastic flowers and stick pins. I store them up here with my ipod also to keep them away from the baby. I like to keep gifts from friends out around my scrap room, lots of the cards you’ve seen and little storage dishes have come from those who are dear to me, they’re just little reminders of love and they make me smile.
Some things I adore about my new room are the huge window and the closet, I like that I can keep stuff that I don’t use as much tucked away behind closed doors.
The shelf on the left is where I Keep paintbrushes, my xyrons and other stuff that I need but don’t use every day. I also store my project life kits here for easy access, some of my wood veneers, brads and ancient eyelets are kept in those two Making Memory drawer boxes. (Those babies are old but handy). Underneath those are the majority of my chipboard alphabets that are stored in those white bins with all the drawers; they are stored by letter.
The shelves on the right of my closet hold my 8.5x11 cardstock, albums and other books as well as my mambi pocket pages cards. Those are stored in antique sewing machine drawers and organized into categories. Other odds and ends are also stored on here until I need them.
In this room I really only have two walls to work with since the other two are window and closet, that leaves the wall behind my desk packed full of white storage cubes.
On the left of the wall by the window you can see I have three small Ikea shelves that hold my mists and stains, those are super handy! You can also see that I store things like twine, flowers, specialty ribbons and buttons in glass jars and dishes along this long shelf of cubes.
This wall of cubes is also houses my cameo with laptop and my sewing machine tucked in underneath. That is super handy since it isn’t taking up floor space and I can use it from where it is.
The right side of this holds the rest of my jars of embellishments and a few pictures. I guess I forgot to mention that my cubes hold things like journaling tags, paints, thickers, sheets of letter alphas, pearls, bling stuff like that organized in separate drawers. DT companies each have their respective drawers to keep things together so they don’t get mixed in with the masses.
To the right of the cubes is where I store almost all of my spooled ribbon, they are stacked by color in this tower of containers.
As you could probably tell from my space I’m a big fan of color, it’s one of the things that inspires me most so I like to keep my embellishments old and new hanging on these cork boards. This also helps me to organize my stuff and see what I have. If an item is still hanging there after two purges…out the door it goes on the next one.
The little bowls up here hold some of my favorite Doodlebug buttons and flags, it helps me use them up when they are stored like this.
So there ya go, this is where I spend most of my free time, I like when I can just shut the door and the rest of the world fades away for a while.
