Guest Designer | Kay Rogers

 Hi all! It’s such a pleasure to be back designing for Bella. It’s always been one of my favorite lines. I’m a patterned paper addict, and the patterns along with the colors make creating layouts a breeze for me! I was worried after being out of the scrapping world for the last few months that I’d struggle making a page, but it was easy!

As you can see I’m a very simple scrapper. I like clean lines, and a strong focus on the photos. I think the colors of all of these lines coordinate well with any photo! Also I am loving the new acrylic pieces. It adds such impact with very little work. Also the embellishments are perfect for making a page in a hurry. I don’t spend more than an hour on a layout, so coordinated product for me is a must.

Guest Designer | Tegan Skwiat

Hi everyone! My name is Tegan Skwiat and I am so excited to be the guest designer for this month!

I live in northwest Indiana with my husband and one fur kid. I’ve loved stickers for as long as I can remember. I had a cherished sticker album when I was a little girl. I was so proud of my sticker collection that included holographic stickers, puffy stickers, and even scratch and sniff stickers! It’s no wonder I love scrapbooking now! When I am not papercrafting, I love to walk the dog, catch up on funny movies, and watch football with hubby. I am also a big Disney fan. I don’t have any kids of my own, but I love going to the Disney parks with my little niece.

My first layout includes a mixture of the Oh My Stars collection, the Popsicles and Pandas collection, and the Delight in His Day collection. Bella Blvd makes mixing their collections on a layout so easy! I started by cutting 2” x 4” squares of my favorite patterned papers and layering them to make colorful background.

I then embellished my background with Delight in His Day stickers, paper pieces, and designer clip and Oh My Stars tabbies. I added a Popsicles and Pandas puffy sticker on the photo of Cinderella’s castle. I just love the happy feeling that all of these colors give this layout!

My favorite thing about this layout has to be the title though! I used the ‘Happy’ Delight in His Day paper piece for the first part of my title. I finished it off with some yellow Delight in His Day alphabet stickers. Rotating a couple of the letters adds to the fun feel of the page. A couple enamel dots adds even more whimsy!

My second layout also has a mixture of the Delight in His Day, Popsicles and Pandas, and Oh My Stars collections. As soon as I saw the Delight in His Day Topnotch patterned paper, I knew I wanted to fussy cut out some of my favorite pennants. I then layered these pennants to make a fun background.

Isn’t the elephant balancing on the pennant just the cutest? I fussy cut him from the Delight in His Day Clear Cuts Pad. A few Bella Blvd enamel star shapes add a little bit of fun to the page. Seriously, a girl can never have too many enamel bits!

The title is my favorite part of this layout too! I used some Bella Blvd Enamel Dots in Punch to add ears to the yellow alphas from the Delight in His Day sticker sheet. I honestly can’t get over how cute this title is!

My last layout is all about Disney as well. I used the Oh My Stars collection to pick out patterned papers that matched my photos exactly. I wanted to add a little bit more color, so I added the teal in also.

I used my Silhouette Cameo to first cut out the circles and numbers. I love that the Oh My Stars collection includes so many different single colored patterned papers. This made matching the patterned papers to my photos so easy. I embellished the page with pieces to match from the Delight in His Day and Popsicles and Pandas collections. The teal scalloped border sticker from the Delight in His Day collection makes a great accent for my second photo.

The Oh My Stars papers are also great for titles that pack a big punch! I used my Cameo and the Brush Script font to make this bold title. I finished off the page with some fun enamel shapes!

Guest Designer | Jennifer Chapin

Hi everyone! Jen Chapin here, and I am so happy to be back here with you on the Bella Blvd blog guest designing this month. Some of you may remember that I was on the team here for many years, so it feels good to be back!

A little about me – I live in Iowa with my husband Adam and two kiddos Keira (8) and Connor (4). I work full time as a nurse. When I’m not busy working you’ll find me scrapbooking or working on a paper. I am finishing up a Master’s degree right now and can’t wait to be done! I also like to practice my photography, read novels and cookbooks, and binge on Netflix documentaries.

The first layout I have to share with you today uses the Secrets of the Sea collection. I wanted to use the patterned papers to create a large title, so I found some letters in my stash and traced them on to the pattern paper carefully cutting them out. I used my sewing machine to stitch through them for added texture.

I also added some watercolor to the background of my page, to mimic the picture of my kids swimming. I thought the left side of the page needed a bit of color, so I added a band of orange patterned paper.

I finished the page off by adhering my letters with foam adhesive, adhering my journaling, and embellishing with fish die cuts and puffy heart stickers.

 

The next layout I have to share is all about stars! I started with a sheet of black patterned paper from the Delight in His Day collection and layered a piece of vellum over the top to tone down the pattern. Next, I used a star punch to punch pieces of the Oh My Stars paper pad out, then stitched these to the background.

I decided to use a black and white photo for this page since I had lots of bright color going on. I was also excited to use the “happy” acrylic word. These are so great!

To finish the page off, I added just a bit of journaling and some of the puffy stars. Such a simple, yet striking page.

 

Last but not least, the Pandas and Popsicles collection! I had been waiting to use this collection specifically for this photo of my daughter. She was a panda last year for Halloween. I printed my photo at 8.5 inches wide, then adhered onto a piece of white cardstock and layered on patterned paper.

For the title, I used the Wonky Alpha puffy stickers, and embellished with a panda sticker. I wanted to keep this page simple when it came to embellishments since the photo is so large.

To finish off the page, I added a few embellishments and some stickers from the sticker sheet. That’s it! A page that coordinates perfectly with my daughter’s costume.

Hello everyone! My name is Diana Sanchez but you might know me by my blog name, The Lovely Pear.

I live in Midland, Texas with my husband, teenage son, and two dogs. I started blogging in the beginning of 2015 and started doing pocket pages later on that year. I enjoy all types of paper crafting but right now I’m focusing on memory keeping. Making pocket pages has allowed me to dabble in photography, writing, and design, which I have always loved doing! I am currently on the Color Cast Designs and Kellie Stamps Design Teams. Whenever I’m not crafting, you can find me in front of the TV watching 90’s sitcom reruns, cruising in my Jeep with the music turned up, or at my full-time job as an office manager for a construction company.

I am so excited to be on Bella Blvd’s blog today sharing three pocket pages I made using supplies from the Make Your Mark and Secrets of the Sea Boy Themed sets.

 

Today I Choose Joy Layout

For the first layout, I decided to go with a 6x8 layout. I wanted to document some of our family trip that we took at Moab, Utah and I thought the golds and blues from the Make Your Mark set would match perfectly with my photos.

For the left page, I used a couple of stickers from the Fundamentals 12x12 sheet to help balance the gold in the layout. I also made inserts with paper from the 6x8 Paper Pad.

I added the “Explore” from the Paper Pieces Gold Foil set on a photo of my son. I love the look of vertical words on layouts! For my journaling, I typed on a yellow paper from the 6x8 Make Your Mark Paper Pad, and I finished it off with another sticker from the Fundamentals page and a sticker from the Icons Puffy Stickers.

Here’s the reason why I decided to go with a 6x8 layout, I wanted to use this gold foil page from the Clear Cuts Pad. I printed out a black and white background photo from one of the trails we hiked and placed the gold foil page on top. I love how you can still see the photo and how the gold just pops against those hills!

 

Shine On Layout

I used the Make Your Mark set on my second layout also but you can see I used more of the pink elements. Luckily my friend’s daughter recently celebrated her birthday and her party theme had a lot of pink!

For this layout, I went with 9x12 pocket pages. I made 4x3 and 3x3 inserts using the Make Your Mark Clear Cuts Pad, Gift Tags, Daily Details, and 6x8 Paper Pad.

When I saw the flower cut-outs from the Paper Pieces, I knew I had to use them. I normally don’t like to glue embellishments outside of my pockets but when I placed these flowers over the corners of the photos, I fell in love!

I also used a couple of designer clips, which I think are my new favorite embellishments to use! This is one of my favorite layouts I’ve made because it’s so different than what I usually make. It’s going to be hard to part with it because I promised my friend she could have it for her album. I hope she and her daughter enjoy it as much as I did making it!

 

Beach Day Layout

For my final layout, I used the Secrets of the Sea Boy Theme set, the perfect set for my nephew’s day out at the beach!

I decided to make this a 6x12 layout and I made 4x6 inserts using the Fish Parade and Borders-Girl papers. On the bottom right you can see I used the Daily Details Boy sheet to make a fun 4x6 insert made up of 2x2 papers and photos.
I added embellishments from Paper Pieces Boy and Fundamentals 12x12 Stickers Boy. I love how the pops of orange happened to match with Jake’s shoes and pants!

One of my favorite things to do on pocket page layouts is to use multiple pockets with one picture. I printed this photo into a 6x8 and cut it down to make a 4x6 and two 4x3 inserts. Because I made it into a black and white photo, I thought it’d be fun to make a scene with it using paper pieces to add some color to it.

Hey there Bella fans! I'm Nancy Damiano, married mom to one boy named Nico and favorite Aunt to a little troop of nieces and nephews. They are a huge part of our lives and scrapbooks. I love a good story (listening to one, telling one, or reading one), traveling and anything aqua.I've been working with color and creating handmade things most of my life.  Scrapbooking took center stage as my favorite hobby 15 years ago. I've been mixing paper goods and stories ever since. Currently I design for American Crafts, Elle's Studio, Felicity Jane and Studio Calico. I believe in living a creative life and 'making' is a huge part of who I am.

Let's take a closer look at the Popsicles and Pandas collection. I have to admit, it was the first one I reached for when I got my designer box. The bright color palette and patterns are so much fun to design with. I loved the patterns so much, I used almost every single one!
"Summer Family" by Nancy Damiano

To create a cohesive design with so many patterns, I chose one basic shape to work with. The hearts tie the design together and keep it from looking chaotic. I kept the photos simple in black and white so that they would really stand out from all of the color. 
This clean yellow alpha sticker is just bold enough to anchor the journaling strips just underneath. I added a navy epoxy sticker and the script "summer" subtitle for a punch of contrast. Using different alphabet sizes and fonts makes for interesting titles.

 

Next, we have the Barnyard collection with it's charming farm motif. It immediately reminded me of this old photo that I have of my son at a local farm. I wanted to tell the story of this very urban kid and his love of all things farm.
"Farm Boy" by Nancy Damiano

​I love this cow print patterned paper and what better way to set off it's boldness than with a splash of yellow! That bold design choice led to the next - lining everything up along the center of the page.
​I was determined to use as many of the cute shapes and embellishments in this collection as I could. Making clusters to surround the photo, was a great way to showcase both the photo and the embellishments. I didn't want to take away from the vertical line of embellishments, so the title is very small and tucked just above the journaling. The story is told in strips that cascade down the page. It's the words that complete the design!

​Last, we have another favorite - Secrets of the Sea! I love the boldness of navy, aqua and orange so I decided to go with a minimalist design and divide the page into six sections.
"Splash" by Nancy Damiano

Each rectangle is filled with journaling, stickers, and patterned paper. The square photos are embellished with the waves and fish stickers in the collection to give them some weight and draw the eye to the focal point.
The design is divided in half with the Secrets of the Sea wide washi tape in the center. It adds a nice splash of navy to the layout. The journaling card is very simple with just a puffy title sticker in bold colors and a few clear enamel dots. It's clean and simple just like the rest of the design. Minimalist doesn't have to mean boring!

March Guest Designer | Kim Jeffress

G’day and Hello, It is Kim Jeffress here waving madly from down under Australia and I am very excited to be back on the Bella Blvd blog as the Guest Designer this month. Let me share a little about myself. I am a wife to David and mum to two sons Addison and Larsen. They boys are my main scrapbooking inspiration. I love recording the good, the bad and the everyday moments of their lives. That’s what matters! I teach kindergarten during the day and scrap at night, kinda seems like a great life right! I get to be crafty all day long. Currently I design for Heidi Swapp and Jot magazine, it keeps me busy but I wouldn’t have it any other way.

I love the Bella Blvd collections because my scrapbooks are full to the brim of bright colors and patterns, it’s my favorite way to scrap. Let me share with you three layouts I created this month using the fun Barnyard and Popsicles and Pandas collections.

"Howdy, Smile, Moo" layout by Kim Jeffress

I loved the bright spotty yellow design on the back of borders pattern paper in the Barnyard collection so I used that as the base of my layout. You can never go wrong with spots.

I adhered my two photos in the center of the layout and then used the Puffy stickers, Designer clips and Paper pieces plus a touch of the washi to create a border around my photos. I added the acrylic as my title and some simple strip journaling and my layout was complete.

I love the subtle texture that the puffy stickers create on my layout.

"Today Goofy" layout by Kim Jeffress

For my second layout I combined some bold pattern papers to form the base of my layout. I used the Moo pattern paper as well as the Borders pattern paper from the Popsicles and Pandas collection. I love how striking the patterns are together.

I arranged my photos then added the acrylic word and letter stickers from the Fundementals sheet to form my title. I added die cuts and puffy stickers to add pops of color around my layout.

"Embrace" layout by Kim Jeffress

For my final layout I used the gorgeous Oh Summer pattern paper from the Popsicles and Pandas collection and laid over some white cardstock to form my base. I love the pretty floral border that is created with this technique.

I created a subtle design through the center of my layout by sprinkling my photos and embellishments in a soft vertical line using the die cuts, some popped up with pop dots and the acrylic words amd puffy hearts.

GUEST DESIGNER | February | Jana Eubank

Hello! My name is Jana Eubank, and I am so thrilled to be joining Bella Blvd. as the Guest Designer this month!

I have been a memory keeper in one form or another for my entire life; writing in journals or combining our photos with fun supplies and stories in scrapbooks. I love the reflective nature of this hobby, all the good and creative people I have met, and feel so blessed at how it has enriched my life. I also really love to create 3d paper crafting projects as gifts or as decorations for the different holidays and seasons. I am 41 years old and live in Bountiful, Utah. I love being a part of this industry and spend my days designing and scrapbooking about my life with my husband, four children, and two dogs. I am currently a part of the Echo Park Paper and Queen & Co. design teams and have also worked in the industry as a design team coordinator, product designer, creative director, and co-owner of my own company.

 

I love the happy nature of Bella Blvd. products and couldn't wait to dig in!

This first page features two of my daughters and the You Are Loved Illustrated Faith collection.

I used white cardstock as the base of my layout, spritzing it with a bit of teal spray mist, stitching the edges and matting it with a couple of the patterned papers before adding my photos and the other elements.

used the Heavens Paper to set off my main photo and then added  a couple of pennants, clear cuts, and a die cut flower to the bottom.

On the left side of my page, I used the letter stickers to spell out my title, stitching the letters down with my sewing machine for a little more texture.

At the bottom of my page, I added a clear cut flower and a clear cut XOXO border, that I also added stitching to.

I have had this next photo waiting for the perfect papers to scrap it with for a few years now ... I was delighted to receive the Barnyard Collection and knew it would be perfect for this fun memory about my daughter dressing up as a farmer for Career Day at her school

At the top of the page, I layered a couple of the cloud die cuts along with some pennant and hearts to give the sun in the corner a little more dimension. I added red gems to the hearts for a bit of sparkle.

For the title, I used the "Smile" acrylic word along the bottom of my photo. I accented the left side with a broccoli die cut and radish puffy sticker.

In the bottom right corner of the page, I used die cuts to cover up the pre-printed pattern and create my own little dimensional farm scene. How cute is that chicken and bushel of apples?! I added my journaling on journaling strips created with my computer and sprinkled in a few punched hearts adorned with red gems.

I love how happy and bright this page turned out!

The final page I have for you today features the adorable Secrets of the Sea (boy) Collection.

A few years ago we visited the Outerbanks of North Carolina. And even though the beach was literally across the street, my kids and their cousins seemed to prefer the ease of the swimming pool. I think it was nice to have snacks and shade just a few footsteps away, and they also enjoyed now having sand everywhere. LOL!

To draw focus to my main photo, I placed the title along the bottom edge along with a little ocean scene created with the die cuts, stickers, and puffy stickers.

I ADORE the embossed nature of the puffy stickers and couldn't resist sprinkling those darling, little blue fish everywhere!

I placed the larger photos in a vertical column on the page, using one of the 4x6 cut apart cards to ground my journaling strips.

The clips, die cuts, and puffy stickers were perfect for adorning the "empty" corners of my photo.

Guest Designer for January | Jill Sprott

Hi! My name is Jill Sprott, and I am excited and honored to be a guest designed at Bella Blvd this month!

I like to think that my life, like my scrapbook pages, is colorful. I hail from ‘Oahu, Hawai’i, where I live with my little but loud family, which includes multiple humans and several furchildren. I teach English at an all-girls’ school in Honolulu, where my creativity is challenged and fed constantly. When the weekend rolls around, I exchange one stack of papers for another, of the patterned variety. I have been scrapbooking for over a decade now. For me, it’s more than a hobby — it is all about learning to recognize the extraordinary in the ordinary. Through scrapbooking, I tell the stories that are uniquely mine to tell as well as the stories entrusted to me by others.
As the January guest designer, I will admit to being more than a little daunted by the task of kicking off a new year. I decided to embrace the challenge and focus on the year to come with a self-portrait layout, using a monochromatic approach and the Oh My Stars collection.

This year, I fought the urge to make any resolutions, since I’m pretty lousy at keeping them. I am, however, a believer in entering the new year with a fresh perspective, so I selected a word, rather than a resolution, for 2017: “notice.”Since the act of noticing is about being attentive not just to the obvious but also to the subtle details, the layout is a mix of nuanced and bold elements. I softened the background with white paint from the Illustrated Faith line, and then added an extra pop of color to the patterned paper, the tags, and the title letters.While one layout looks ahead, another layout looks back at one of the highlights of the past year. I pulled together elements from the Addison, Oh My Stars, and Illustrated Faith “You Are Loved” collections to help me to tell story of a transformative service project, in which students at my school assisted the residents of a long-term care facility.Once again, paint adds a color boost to the page. To lend some dimension to the letters in the title, I backed some of the alphabets with foam circles.The elements on this page reinforce the virtues of hope, faith, and charity that I witnessed in action through the project.The last of my three layouts combines a bunch of photos from past and present, to document a job I take seriously but that still keeps me laughing on most days, that of dog mother.

The design of this page was inspired by belly spots, dirty paws, and gleeful romps through the grass. Luckily, Bella Blvd has the perfect colors and patterns needed to convey that dog-happy vibe.

I had lots of fun composing the journaling, which includes a list of behaviors common to parents of dog-folk. After printing the journaling in strips, I added some playful stitching, extending it to the photos and the layers of the page.

It’s been a thrill to start off the year in the best of ways, with lots of color and energy, courtesy of Bella Blvd!

October Guest Designer | Gina Lideros

Hi! My name is Gina, and some of you might know me as myfrogprince on some forums. I am so honored to be your guest designer at Bella Blvd. for the month of October!

I started scrapbooking back in 1996 when supplies were limited. Back then it was mostly stickers, decorative scissors and colored cardstock. It has been so fun to watch this industry change and grow over the years and grow with it. I am passionate about scrapbooking and photography and I love sharing it with others. I have been fortunate enough to study photography and work with Canon as a Special Projects Representative to train store employees in digital photography. I currently enjoying being on a few design teams while I share my love for scrapbooking and photography with others.

I love the Addison collection so much! The bright and trendy colors and designs are just perfect for scrapping photos of my teenage daughter. The look of the Addison collection fits her personality so much! To create the large X's on my layout I simply used my paper trimmer to cut my papers into strips and then used a tiny attacher to staple them into X's. Easy peasy and oh so fun!

I'm a big fan of patterned papers, and I love using lots on my pages! For this layout I chose papers from both the Addison and Bright and Brave collection. I love how well the pieces in both collections go well together. I specifically wanted to include the bible journaling paper because my daughter is a child of God and I am so proud of where she is in her personal walk right now. To create my background I layered strips of patterned papers (at an angle) against a white cardstock background. I added some drops of pink spray mist and a few enamel hearts. I also used some paper pieces and a strip of washi to finish up my page.

Fall is my favorite season and I absolutely love Halloween and creating anything Halloween related.The Spooktacular collection is filled with lots of cute patterns that are perfect for documenting your spooky memories. To create my layout I started with a cut file from The Cut Shoppe (called Full Circle) and cut out my big design using the Bright And Brave Epistles paper. Then I backed my cut file with different papers from the Spooktacular pad. I added a few drops of black ink across my page and added my photo and title. I chose a black and white photo to really bring out the colors of the papers in the design. I added some super cute paper pieces, tabbies, stickers and enamel dots to complete my design.

I can't let Halloween pass without making a Halloween card. The papers in the Spooktacular paper pad are perfect for this because they are already sized to a smaller scale to fit well with cardmaking. On my card design my love for patterned papers and washi came together. I simply trimmed my papers and washi strips at an angle before adhering them down on my card front. I used my sewing machine to add a little bit of machine stitching to my design then used foam adhesive squares to make my paper pieces come to life. I added a small bell pepper enamel dot to finish off my card.

September Guest Designer | Leigh Odynski

Today we excited to have the talented Leigh Odynski along as our September Guest Designer! We sent over a few of our newest collections, so that she could work her creative magic with them to share with you.

Hi!  My name is Leigh, and some of you might know me as Artful Leigh. I am so honored to be your guest designer at Bella Blvd. for the month of September! 

 

I have been a painter, and an art and design enthusiast my whole life, and paper crafter since 1998. I run the blog Artful Leigh Creative, and love to share and encourage others with my love for traveler’s notebooks, scrapbooking, painting, graphic design, brush lettering, hand lettering, digital and clear stamping, and Project Life®. I basically enjoy any form of creating on paper! I graduated as Valedictorian in 2002, with an Arts Degree in Design. We focused on Graphic and Interior Design. I enjoy being on Creative Teams, and am completely humbled and honored to currently be on four teams. I look forward to continuing to learn and grow as an artist, and inspire others to do so as well! 

 

 "Like A Boss" Layout, by Leigh Odynski

Do you ever have a story you want to tell from the past, so you take a current photo to represent it? That’s how this page started! Once I printed the photo, I saw the Swiss Cross shape on the controller, and realized I could repeat that shape across the page. You can punch squares out of a variety of Alex patterns, and trim them into strips with scissors to create the swiss crosses. Two triangular corners from the McIntosh Stars paper frame the page. I stitched through the shapes on the diagonal to add line and texture. Then, added computer journaling to a tag in a pocket behind the photo.

"So Awesome" Layout, by Leigh Odynski

Love the Addison Collection so much! Sometimes the fresh designs of your supplies can inspire the whole concept for a page, as was the case here! The Addison Playlist Paper is perfect for any music lover. Have fun punching squares from this adorable line, and pile on some stickers, clips, washi stickers, and Bella Bows. Add a chipboard title and call it perf!

"Explore" Layout, by Leigh Odynski

 

The inspiration for this page came from an advertising catalog!

 

I used punches and scissors to create the individual flowers, hand cut the green stems, and washi tape, to replicate the photo back drop from the inspiration piece. I Love the bright and beautiful colors in the Oh My Stars line!

 

I layered lots of hand cut pieces behind the photo for impact. How many different styles of flowers can you create? Try it out and see!

"Latte Love" Layout, by Leigh Odynski

 This page came together quickly, and the color scheme was taken directly from the photo. The heart shape in the latte art was repeated in the different size hearts punched and added to the hand stitched floss and yarn stripes. Kind of like those wall weavings all over Pinterest right now!
