Hello scrappy friends! Ashley back on the Bella Blvd blog to share this back to school layout using the School Is Cool collection! I am documenting my 2 daughters last year's first day of school photos with their signs. I love doing this because it's a fun way of keeping track of how much they are growing and changing each school year!
I wanted to make the layout look like it was a piece of notebook paper that was the foundation for the photos and embellishments. I created the base layers using the papers named School Uniform and Supply List. Next, I punched a strip of the paper named No. 2 Pencil using a notebook punch. I cut a 9 1/2 by 9 inch square out of the paper named Paperclip and adhered the notebook punched border on to the left side of that square. I also added some thin strips next to the notebook punched piece which came from that same paper I used earlier- School Uniform.
I added my photos towards the top portion of the blue grid paper so that I would have room underneath it for the title. I grabbed the Ciao Chip stickers and used the phrase "Back 2 School" stickers. This made creating my title super simple! I also added the year using the Florence Alpha stickers in the color Blueberry and aligned it next to the 'B' in the title. I wanted to ground the title so it didn't seem like it was just floating there on the layout so I grabbed a pencil from the Ephemera Icons and adhered it using foam adhesive underneath the title.
Finally, it was the embellishing part which is always my favorite! I created 3 clusters around my layout using Ciao Chip, Epoxy Stickers, Puffy Stickers and Ephemera Icons. The first cluster was on the bottom left which consisted of a crayon box, scissors and star. The next cluster was on the bottom right which was a clipboard, epoxy crayons and and apple with a cute worm! The last cluster was above my photo and that was made using a backpack, puffy colored pencils, a star and a rainbow ephemera piece. I also added a chipboard sticker that reads "Your future is bright" above my photo which was so fitting for the first day of school!
That's it! This layout was super fun to make. I always enjoy creating those back to school layouts especially to keep those memories documented! Hope you enjoyed reading this process and have a wonderful day!
