Hey friends! Brianna Lepper here today for Cut Outs Week! In addition to using Cut Outs, we were also prompted to use Bella Besties along with the adorable Cooper collection. I chose to document this sweet photo of our dog Lil Bit. He passed away last month so I thought a beautiful rainbow layout would be a great way to honor his sweet memory. Here's my layout!
I had SO much fun creating this layout! I ended up choosing the Hearts Cut Out from the Love You Lots set. If you haven't had a chance to work with Cut Outs, they are cut files that come to you already precut and they even include instructions and templates. A lot of the sets come with multiple Cut Outs so you can create several projects with one pack. If you already own a die cutting machine, these are still awesome to have on hand especially if you're short on time or don't want to fuss with your machine!
Let's get to my layout! I backed mine using several patterned papers from the collection as well as the Hearts and Ombre papers in Orange, Guacamole, Gulf, Blueberry and Ice. I set it aside and prepped my mixed media background. I chose several different Distress Oxide colors that matched the colors in the collection and painted them on in rainbow order. For the gold color, I used a Nuvo Drop from my stash. Check out the bright and cheery colors!
Once my background was finished drying, I popped the entire Cut Out on foam and adhered it down to the page. I then started embellishing tone on tone, pulling smaller elements that I could tuck into the hearts of the Cut Out.
I pulled in some Heart Hugs, Ephemera Icons and Words, Cute Clips and also the hearts from the Trinkets Puffy Stickers in McIntosh, Orange, Bell Pepper, Guacamole, Blueberry and Ice & Gulf. The hearts were perfect additions to layer in!
Next, I matted my photo using papers from Cooper and started working on my title. I started with the "Cutest" Ciao Chip word sticker and built the rest of my title off of it. I pulled in the Aria Alphas in Orange and Blueberry and the Florence Alphas in Blueberry. When I was choosing the alpha colors, I kept in mind the placement of each one based on the mixed media background. Have you tried embellishing tone on tone? I enjoy this method so much!
Here's another close up of the rest of the title.
Lil Bit was truly "The Cutest and Bestest Friend" in the entire world. He was so sweet and loving and we will miss him greatly! Thank you so much for stopping by today! I hope that I've inspired you in some way. If you haven't had a chance to pick up some Cut Outs or were maybe on the fence to grab some, they really are so easy to work with. I only backed half of it and left the rest open so it shows y'all that you can leave parts of it unbacked and add embellishments into those empty spaces. So fun and easy! Thank you again and I'll see you in my next post!
