Hi scrappy friends,
it's Lisa back on the blog today and I'm sharing one of my favorite layouts I created in the last few months. I'm just so happy with how it turned out.
The assignment for this week was to use the new Bella Besties and the Halloween collection called Monsters&Friends. Nothing easier than that, I LOVE all the papers and embellishments included in the Halloween collection and the Hearts&Ombré Bella Besties are to die for!!!
I had seen this super cute cat face on Pinterest and I thought it would look super cool on a layout. I started by choosing the papers that I wanted to use for my paper-piecing and drew the cat face onto white paper to create stencils for the different parts of my critter.
Then I took a 12x12 white sheet of paper and did some mixed media on it, using gold, orange, green and purple acrylic inks. When I was done with the background I thought I had just created a big mess but as it turned out later, when everything was placed on the background, it looked super cool. :)
While that was drying, I continued with my cat head. As always, when I'm making one of my cute critters, I cut out the different pieces and adhere them onto white paper. Then I pierce holes, I hand-stitch in matching colors and I cut my finished embellishment out, leaving a white border. I then took my PaperMate Flairs and drew some shadows on the different parts of the head. I love doing that, as well as adding highlights with a white pen; it gives so much more dimension. For the cheeks, I used two enamel pumpkins... soooo cute!! I also added a cute bow with tassels to the cats neck. Even cuuuuuter!!! :)
I adhered the head to the background using foam tape. Then I chose my photo and matted it on a few scraps of paper and a piece of acetate with orange hearts. I took this photo of my cat two years ago, when I was decorating my porch and kitty was sniffing around and discovering new things. :)
I went through the collection to find all the things I wanted to add to the layout. I mainly used pieces from the die cuts and chipboard stickers. I placed everything on the page the way that I liked and then adhered all the pieces. For my title, I used the new Aria Puffy Alphas. To finish the layout, I sprinkled some black paint in some spots.
I really LOVE how it turned out and I hope you do too!! :)
Thx for stopping by, see you soon,
