Never too early for Halloween treats, especially when they are made using the brand new Monsters & Friends collection! I have a favorite pattern paper picked out already, but I will share that at the end. For now, I want to show you how to make these little notebooks to give out to trick or treaters as an alternative to candy!
I first trim the pattern papers to 4"x6". Folded, that would make the notebook 3" wide. Optional, use a corner rounder on the edges to make it look more like a notebook. Next, trim your inside pages. For these, I used sketch paper. I found a notebook at Target. I like this because it is thin but still sturdy. The brand I used was Strathmore Sketch Fine Tooth Surface. I use this same paper when I make my traveler's notebooks.
Your inside pages work best about a 1/4" less than the actual size of your cover. I don't measure precise, but I trimmed them just a smidgen less, then folded them, and used a stapler that can reach the center. If you don't have a stapler that will reach, you can pierce holes in the center and add handstitching to tie and secure. Note, if you did corner rounding on your cover, corner round the inside pages as well.
I used only 3 pattern papers for my covers and just reversed them to get a total of 6 notebooks. I used Monster Party, Borders, and Candy Monster. I die cut a label for the center of each one using both sides of the new Bella Besties in Hearts Ombre Gulf. Bella Blvd makes the best colors for Halloween, and that Gulf color goes with every one of my covers!
I used the We R Memory Keepers Button Maker to make my own accents to layer on top of each label using Monster Party, Candy Monster, and Pumpkin Contest.
I think these are adorable to hand out to kids, but to also grown kid's at heart! So fun and quick to make. Hope this inspires you to create these little treats yourself!
And my favorite pattern paper is hard to say, but I am going with the Candy Monster! The candy and the monster are adorable and full of fun and color!
