Hello Bella Blvd friends!
Nathalie with you today right on time to celebrate Halloween. My kids are teenagers now, which means we no longer celebrate Halloween here at home (we were never big on the celebration). However, I still have a few memories of the times the kids were little and how cute they looked carrying their little bag of candies around. For today's project, I borrowed the pictures of my daughter and niece at her last Halloween party. Let me show you what I have created:
I had this idea of creating a very texture and dimensional page for this memory. So I started with creating the background by ripping some of the collection papers (Monster Party, Lil' Pumpkins, Fun Facts) and gluing them atop a piece of heavy cardstock, so that the ripped edges show at about the middle of the page.
I used gesso and a thick brush to cover the area where the picture and most of the embellishments will sit. The gesso creates the wrinkling on the paper that adds the dimension and texture of the page. Here, I blended a few shades of Distress Oxide inks so that the teal in the pictures and papers pop. I left this to set while working on the picture and layers.
I used the left over pieces of the papers and a few extras to create layers behind the picture. I also added a piece of the scallop sticker of the Doohickey sheet, just to bring some of the colors in the picture to the layers.
To assemble the page, I build a small scene at the top left corner of the mixed media spot. For this, I used pieces from the ephemera icons and also the epoxy stickers. I added some of the pumpkins Bella pops to add more dimension to the page. I added a bit of foam adhesive behind the picture, so that it pops from the page.
The little monsters in this collection are so cute, and the perfect colors to decorate the page. I just love how they help to frame the picture in the layout.
To finish the page, I created a title using a combination of ephemera, chipboard icons and the Aria puffy stickers. I added a few extra pops of color using the epoxy Halloween Star stickers. All that was left were the lines of journal.
I just love how this turned out, and all those cute embellishments are just adorable, and perfect for my crazy kid and niece. I hope this inspires you to pull your Halloween memories and get them documented with the beautiful MONSTER & FRIENDS collection!
XO
