Bella Blvd Studio Blog: Autumn Inspired Page Using cut files by Kim Watson

With Fall in the air and trees adding glorious color everywhere; inspired, I decided to create my own version of fall beauty using cut files & the uber cute 'Let's Go on an Adventure' collection.

This is the result.

I started with a few of the latest cut files loaded into the Bella Blvd Silhouette Online Store. These I positioned on the white cardstock background, cutting them out for filling with patterned paper. I wanted to create an extra layer of dimension by having the leaves at different heights.

Before adhering the patterned paper shapes underneath with foam adhesive the corresponding cut-outs, I machine stitched a leaf stalk on each for interest.

The photo was matted onto layers of tracing paper, adding lift, interest & dimension. Again my thoughts were to keep everything subtle, not to clutter the feeling of space within the design.

The acrylic title being white, helps tell my story but doesn't dominate in any way. Do you notice how cute the little floral clusters look mixed with sentiments from the Word Ephemera? Each word working perfectly with my theme, again contributing to whole theme of my autumn, morning beach walks with my husband. I adore how the extra height of all the different elements really help the page appear tactile.

Now for the favorite part of the page; the 3 dimensional leaves! I love how they flow around the page adding energy and movement, helping ones eye travel around the page. Each pattern and color, balanced with other elements on the page, creating harmony.

This is a 'feel-good page', with the strong feeling of fall coming through each element via color, motif & sentiment. So I encourage you to try this technique.
