The Best Is Yet To Come

Raise your hand if you have a stash of Washi Tape that you have been collecting (hoarding)! It's OK, I'm right here raising my hand with you! The good news is that there are so many things you can do with Washi Tape! 

On this card, I used FOUR different Washi Tapes, can you spot them? I used the black & white polka dot tape to make a background to tuck behind the sentiment. I also used a thin yellow to create the yellow/white stripes, added a strip of the teal polka dot tape and a little piece of the black & white stripes to attach the sentiment to the card. Fun ways with Washi Tape by Kim Watson

Are you looking for some more cool ideas to use washi tape?

Then you have come to the right place! Today I have a few ideas you might enjoy!

Follow my step-out process below:

Step #01

Grab a selection of washi tape & adhere them in a vertical pattern in the middle of your page. 'White-out' the area around the tape to 'knock back' some of the background pattern. This helps the page look less busy.

Step #2

Using a card stock circle as a guide, pleat one of the wider tapes around the edge. This will become one of the layers of 'petals' of your flower.

Step #3

Create a pleated circle slightly smaller in size that the first one you made, using different color tape. 

Layer them together, topped with a fussy cut flower for the center. 

 

Now that the first couple of layers are stuck together, you will have a size guide for your last & final petal layer. Again, it is easier to pleat onto a card stock guide, for bigger circles. 

 

Once completed, stick them together to complete your rosette flower.

 

The rest of the page consists of fun layers of tags, ephemera & stickers. Inspired by the yellow diamond paper, I created a twine diamond on top of the washi tape background, to frame my photograph. 

 

A 'tension' cluster on the top left side of the page, helps balance the overall design as well as color. 

 

Tags add height above the photo & introduce patterns that read as solids, balancing out the multiple patterns

Clustered sentiment stickers & ephemera help tell my story, as well as create tension within the design.

 

The rosette flower becomes the focal accent drawing one's eye towards the photo.

Washi Circles | Erica Thompson

This week the team is playing around with washi tape and sharing lots of inspiration. I am so excited to share my layout today with you and I am so proud to say I was able to use 6 washi tapes on this layout. I started out by pulling some of my favorite Bella Blvd washi tapes. I also needed some printer paper, circle dies and a die cutting machine. I covered the printer paper with the washi tapes and then ran them through my die cutting machine using different sized circles. 

Once I had a good pile of circles cut I pulled out a piece of white cardstock for my background. I went ahead and ran my photos through the die cutting machine as well using the circle die cuts. I thought it would be fun to have some circle photos on this layout. 

I played around with a few different placements of my circles but in the end I decided to position them more in the center of the page and I love how it turned. Some of them are popped up and some are adhered directly to my white cardstock. I pulled out some embellishments from Squeeze the Day. 

The photos are from my recent trip to iScrap On in Georgia where I taught 3 classes! I used the Florence Alpha to add the year and my WRMK typewriter to add my journaling. To finish off my layout I added a few of the Bella Blvd matte enamel dots. Here is a look at my completed layout.

So Cute Digital Layout using Digital Washi Tape

Hi there, Tya here! Today I am sharing a digital scrapbooking layout with you and it was really a lot of fun to create. This week on the blog we are focusing on Washi tape. I love when digital collections have the same elements as physical products and the adorable Addison digital collection has so many super cute washi tapes! 

 

I took a few of the washi tapes and placed them diagonally across the top right corner of my layout. I added some drop shadows to make the tapes look a bit more realistic. I liked being able to use so many of the tapes without the layout looking too busy - the patterns coordinated so well together that they made for a fun decorative element.

Fruity little love / Washi tape

Good morning everyone!!

Sarah here today to share a layout with you for the Bella Blvd design team and my assignment this week was to use at least 4 different washi tapes on a layout. My problem was finding just 4, lol.

Well I finally found the 4 that I wanted to use, I already had an idea of what I wanted to do, so I used a cut-file and then went to work covering it with the washi tapes I had chosen. I used some of the new ones from the Squeeze the day collection and a few others I had in my stash of Bella goodies.

I grabbed the Bella Besties and went through them, trying to find just the right color for my background and landed on yellow bell pepper. I loved the brightness it brought to the layout and I wanted this layout to be fun and bright, just like my little goofy girl in the pictures. 

I laid my cut-file on the background I had chose, backed my photos and then decided I wanted something to the right of my layout, a way to use another washi. So I grabbed one of my punched and cut a boarder down the side and laid a few strips of the black and white stripped "break the rules" washi and attached it to the bell pepper paper.

Once I did that, I backed my photos with some white cardstock, tucked them into my cut-file and then went to playing with all the fun embellishments that came along with the Squeeze the day collection

I tucked some of the fruit ephemera around the layout, making little clusters and then moved on to the word ephemera and added bits and pieces of those around the layout as well.

I pulled some of the Heart hugs out and used some of the enamel dots off the sheet and placed them around the layout, played with a few of the stickers from the Doohicky sticker sheet and then jumped into the ciao chips and epoxy icons.

Those are just so stinking cute!! I pulled some of the Florence and Wonky alphas and finished off my title and was finished with the layout!

I cant wait to play even more with this collection! Its so bright and playful and there are so many things you can do with it!

Back to School - Old Meets New

Good morning everyone! Can you believe that summer is unofficially over and kids are going back to school?!?! It's crazy!

For my back-to-school-week layout, I decided to begin by using the Florence Alpha cut file to add a little interest to my background. I backed that with the Oyster paper from the new Bella Besties line and then added in random Florence Alphas to add a pop of color. I then dug DEEP into my stash and pulled out bits from the older Star Student line. I love mixing older supplies with newer stuff - and since all the Bella products coordinate so well, it's easy to do!

Shine Bright with Wendy

Hello and Goodbye Bella Blvd family! Wendy here for the last time as I'm headed back to school as a teacher! I've been homeschooling my kids for 17 years so this is quite an adjustment that will take some time. Before I go, I thought I would share my first pages in my Back to School Traveler's Notebook!

I am returning as a middle school teacher and unlike the high school world, rooms actually get decorated. After pursuing Pinterest, this is the classroom I created with the help of my Silhouette. I am quite proud of my accomplishment and hope my students enjoy their time here.

I began my page with the light bulb cut file from Bella Blvd as my theme is Shine Bright, I added in some silver Stickles for a sparkly touch.

I love Bella's acrylic words, so I was so pleased to find the Shine piece in my stash making my title Shine Bright.

To anchor my pictures I added in the borders from the Pop Quiz! collection, perfect for my math room.

Homework, a necessity in math and I used the Come to Class paper again from the Pop Quiz! collection as the math was scribbled about just like homework would be.

Back to School Cards

Hello Bella Blvd Friends! Welcome to Back to School Week! Today I am sharing easy to make cards to welcome back that special teacher or amazing friend! Such an awesome way to start the school year.

With a cute patchwork style, these cards can be made in a snap. And why not have some fun with scissors and glue yourself?!

Let's get started by gathering our supplies. You will need the new Bella Blvd Squeeze the Day & Freehand Graph and Dot 6"x6" mini paper pads; Florence Alphabet Stickers; Squeeze the Day Ephemera Icons; & white cardstock.

step 1. Cut two (2) strips of patterned paper from the mini paper pads at 1" wide. Cut the paper strips into 1" squares. Cut each square on the diagonal to create triangles. Use coordinating colours to create your apples.

step 2. Take four (4) triangles and trim 1/2 cm off the top angle (see image below). Leave the right angle intact. Overlap the middle two triangles to create a gap for the stem to "grow" from.

step 3. Align the triangles (as shown below) to form the patchwork apple shape. Use a set square ruler for even placement on your base cardstock.

step 4. Add a leaf to the top of the apple using a heart shaped ephemera icon and layer it with an enamel heart or Florence Alphabet heart sticker.

step 5. Use a cute phrase or school pun for your sentiment. The Florence Alphabet Stickers and Tiny Text alphabets are perfect for this!

step 6. Back your cardstock base with patterned paper from the mini paper pad.

step 7. Finally attach your patchwork apple to a white cardstock 4"x6" card.

Back to School Lunch Box Prayers!

Hi friends, Allie here today to share a fun idea for some lunch box notes-- with a twist! Lunchbox prayers! 

Growing up, my mom would always write a sweet note on my napkins whenever I packed my lunch-- I thought it was the coolest thing, and other kids would always come over to see what my mom wrote on my napkin that day. Sometimes, it was as simple as "I love you" or "Good luck." But it was always special to me. I've been excited to do fun things like that for my son who starts preschool this year-- but even without school-aged kids, you can do this for spouses! 

I used some Pocket Prayers from AllieScraps and a ton of really awesome goodies from the Bella Blvd digital Pop Quiz collection to make a fun, faithful twist on lunchbox notes! Be sure to check out the video to see how it all came together! 

 

To start with this, I opened up a 8.5x11 blank document and pulled in a lot of my favorite elements from the Pop Quiz collection to fill the page. I printed those out, and also made sure to print it double sided with a fun digital paper from the Pop Quiz collection too. I'm obsessed with those paper airplanes! One of my favorite parts of using digital collections for hybrid/printed projects is never running out of my favorite patterns, or being able to use my favorite elements over and over again! You better believe that I'm going to be using this paper and the "Nerd Love" square over and over again! 

After I printed them and cut them all out, I assembled the prayer cards-- making hinges with washi tape for some of these, using staples and glue for other clusters. 

 

I just love how these fun little cards turned out-- and I love that if you wanted to keep the finished ones all together, you just need a hole punch and a binder ring (or some ribbon!) to keep all the prayers from the year together!

Sophomore Year

It's getting to be that time of year again. For some, the new school year has already begun, as you may have noticed with all of the back to school photos filling up your social media feed. Here in Wisconsin, school does not start until after Labor Day, leaving us a couple of weeks to shop and plan out the perfect first day of school photos!

To honor the new school year, I am sharing a layout using Pop Quiz. All of the patterns of this line are so fun and those chipboard shapes are the cutest!!

As you know, I like to add dimension to my layouts, these chipboard shapes add the right amount of dimension and honestly they are just so cute! 

To make the page a little more interesting I cut out some of the individual hexagons and popped them up off the page.
