Hiya friends! I hope you are having a fantastic day!
One of the things I hear from those new to Bible journaling is "where do I start?" Now, I know people first want to know where in the bible to start, but today we are going to talk about where on the page to start.
As far as where in the Bible, that all depends on where I am learning, searching, digging deeper. For me, today it is in the latest devotional kit, Rise Up. I am working on day 5 - Battle Cry. In this entry, Kristen points us to II Samuel 22
" Fridays, God invited us to boldly praise His name. He invites us to rejoice when the battle rages on. God has spent years raising up an army of warriors in the body of Christ who know the power of the Holy Spirit. The power that lies within each of us. Within You. Read over today's Scripture, as if it is your life's battle cry. Look in the mirror if you must. Whatever it takes, I want you to believe it, feel it, and proclaim it today! "
As I read through II Samuel I knew I wanted to pray through His words and proclaim it for myself, so that is where my page started, right there with that prayer and a little title at the top, visually reminding me of the topic.
This is it, friends, THIS is the most important step. I have prayed, I have journaled, I have read. I could be done here easily and have a beautiful journal entry. So next time we are tempted to say "I'm not sure where to start", " I'm not artistic", " I don't have enough time".... let's just throw those excuses out the window now... we all can do this.. am I right?
But the good news is.... we can add more if we want! One great first step is just adding a bit of color, maybe a bit of paint! I am using the Illustrated Faith acrylics today along with a paint card. I wanted to show you exactly how much paint you need to add to the cards to get these tiny paint marks on your page! What is so awesome about this paint is that it is highly pigmented so you really don't need a lot of paint to get lots of colors!! Look at that tiny dab of paint, that is what added all that beautiful bright pink across the page :) So this is an easy first step we can all do to add a little color to the page!
Again, this is a place you can throw you hands up in the air, knowing you spent 10 mins documenting you walk and call it good to go! Another beautiful prayer was written down next to His living truth!
Want to take it one step further? This is where you can add some stamps, embellishments, tabs, washi etc! No, none of this is needed with bible journaling but I just wanted to share with you the different examples and steps you can take to move from a simple beautiful page to something with a little more detail added. Honestly, my pages range from simple journaling and a sticker to a full blown art journaling page and everything in between!
Bible Journaling should be a joyful experience and whatever that may look like for you, I encourage you to start there! Lean in! Dig deep!
Thank you so much for joining me today! Make sure to share your pages using #illustratedfaith, I would love to see what Jesus is doing in your life today!

Thanks for this post. I helped me to have a jumping off point. Ive had my journaling bible for awhile but haven't had the courage to put any color in there! I've journaled on the sides, but no color. Thanks for breaking it down a little for me!
