Hi everyone! It's been a wild Spring here and we actually had a crazy blizzard last weekend and ended up snowed in with no electricity. Needless to say, I'm ready for some summer weather and fun!
My page today features Teddy's very first trip on the boat last summer.
One of the really great things about digital is you don't have to worry about printing your pictures before you make a page. Sometimes that means I decide to enlarge a big picture and use it as the background picture for my page! When doing this, I try to use a simple picture (landscapes work great) that accents the elements of the layout.
Another great thing about digital is you can really stack the elements and papers on top of the layout without worrying about it getting too heavy! I added all the super cute papers in fun shapes around the picture to frame it before stacking the elements around the picture!
I added a simple title to the corner of the papers. I liked how the yellow really popped off the picture of the lake water!
I also added to more clusters of elements to anchor the papers. I always try to remember the rule of thirds and keep my elements in a triangle shape. For the top cluster, I got a little crazy and added extra elements.
Finally, I added a little text for journaling in the white space of the picture.
This page will be printed in a photo book of Teddy's firs year, so I like to design my pages in sets of two so that the entire spread matches. For the other side, I went with a simple pocket layout.
For this page, I added the papers behind the pictures, so word art and called it good!
Have you ever made a layout using a giant picture as the background?
