Hey, Bella fans! Missy here, and I'm continuing National Words Matter Week with a new layout focusing on journaling. I used the gorgeous new Illustrated Faith Basics collection for this, and every little piece is just beautiful. Our product focus this week is Puffy Stickers, and I used a bunch of the adorable Puffy Stars on my page. For my journaling to really stand out, I printed it on vellum. I really love how this layout turned out, and I hope it inspires you!
I just had to use this super cute polka dotted patterned paper as my background. I love the sentiment on it, and it serves as my title. I smudged a lot of white gesso onto it first to prime it and to fade out some of the dots. I used three more patterned papers from the Paper Pad to cut big stars on using my Silhouette Cameo. I layered them in a crooked fashion and then stitched them down using matching thread. I added watercolors to my background using the packaging technique and a brush. I embellished with lots of cute Puffy Star Stickers in four different colors. They reminded me of confetti and went perfectly with the theme of my page.
I just adore these bright colors! Look how cute those die cut flowers are. They make wonderful accents and layering pieces. They look great paired with the Puffy Stars! I added some tangled thread for extra pops of color and texture.
Here you can see the journaling on the vellum. I didn't want to completely cover up the watercolor background, and using a felt tip pen on top of gesso doesn't always work out that great. So this was a great solution, and I love how it looks. I was inspired by the title, and I decided to give my daughter a bit of advice about her future. I added some foam adhesive under a few of the flowers to give them dimension, and I added some thread under them.
Here you can see how awesome the stitching detail is. Whether it's machine or hand stitching, it's a great way to add that extra little detail to a layout.
I added some foam under my photo as well as more tangled thread and a cute black & white arrow die cut.
Here's the process video for this layout if you'd like to see how it all came together from start to finish. I hope it inspires you!

Missy,
I must say how talented you are! What a beautiful layout! You mention using gesso - is that acrylic paint? Also, do you do your stiching on a machine? You make it look so easy. Love your layouts.
