Hey there, Bella fans! It's Missy again, and I'm back today to share a fun and bright Spring layout featuring the new Barnyard collection. You don't have to have barn or farm related photos to use this fun line! When I think of Spring, I think of flowers and butterflies. I decided to create a page filled with butterflies, so I chose several patterned papers from the 6x8 Paper Pad that were bright and colorful. I used a cut file from the Silhouette Store and cut several butterflies out. I used the beautiful yellow dotted paper, which is the back side of the Borders sheet, as my background. I love adding mixed media to my layouts, so I used lots of gesso and watercolors to jazz up the area behind the butterflies.
My photo is of my daughter from a few years ago running away from me as I was trying to do a Spring photoshoot...haha! I loved the green in the photo and her cute little dress. It's definitely a beautiful Spring picture, and all these colors go so nicely with it. I used white gesso over the background first, and then I used some blue, aqua, pink and green watercolors. I sprayed them directly on the paper and then sprayed some water on it to help it blend a bit. Once that was dry, I arranged all the butterflies, taped them down and the machine stitched through the centers of them. I added some tangled thread under certain areas and then began embellishing.
I used some of the new Wonky Alpha Puffy Stickers for part of my title. I used a few of these adorable Barnyard die cuts from the Paper Pieces pack. The cute tree and little chicks looked so Springy. I tucked the tree under the edge of my photo and popped up one of the chicks with some fun foam adhesive.
How cute is that little sun and cloud?! It was perfect for my "sky" mixed in with all the butterflies. I added some fun foam behind him as well as some tangled thread. I love the detail the machine stitching gives. And it guarantees those butterflies aren't going to fall off the page in the future. I think I'm obsessed with the Puffy Stickers...they come in so many colors, and the font is so fun!
I used one of the Designer Clips here. I just glued it down behind the photo. Those clips are such wonderful embellishments.
I added another little chick over to the left of the photo, which I also popped up. Those cute little heart stickers are from the Fundamentals sheet.
Here's a look at the dimension. I love how the butterfly wings are coming off the page. It's fun to create depth and not have everything completely flat on a page. It really makes everything pop and look more realistic!
I hope this gives you an outside of the box idea on how you can use this cute Barnyard collection!
