Happy New Year, friends! Missy here, and we are throwing it back this week by using up some of our older Bella scraps. I pulled out some papers from the Illustrated Faith She Blooms and Whatever is Lovely collections that I had previously cut into or had scraps left. I have probably looked at the Whatever is Lovely "Lovely" paper with all the butterflies several times, but this time it jumped out at me. I knew I needed to fussy cut those butterflies out and create a design with them. I pulled out some white cardstock and Shanna's Favorites Watercolors and created a coordinating watercolor background first, and then I arranged the butterflies so they looked like they were flying out from behind my photo.
I love the color scheme that the butterflies created. I think it's a great idea to look back at your older papers because you may see them in a different light like I did. I also fussy cut "lovely" from another patterned paper and used it as my title. I used some black thread to stitch all the bodies of the butterflies to give them more texture and make them stand out a little more. I layered a few more patterned papers behind my photo including a paper from Fresh Market. I embellished with a lot of stickers from various collections.
I love how the title turned out. I added some of the Olive You Homespun alphas with some orange Tiny Text alphas and then stitched through it with pink thread. I added a few more butterflies down in that area as well. I found a red and blue scalloped border sticker that matched on the She Blooms Treasures & Text Sticker Sheet. I love when that happens!
For my background, I used my brush as well as some plastic packaging to created those beautiful splotches of color. I ruffled up the edges of my papers to give them some dimension and tucked in a few word and phrase stickers at the top.
I love these kinds of stickers...the kind that go with any type of layout you're making. This arrow is an older sticker from the Trinkets Color Chaos collection. I added a few tiny circle heart stickers from some of the Little Bits sticker sheets, too. I love those little pops of color!
Here's a look at all the beautiful dimension and color from the butterflies. All this took was some patience to cut them out. I love how they look!
I hope you are inspired by this layout. It was a lot of fun to put together! Here's my process video showing how I created it. I hope you enjoy!
Thanks so much for stopping by, and have a great day!
