Bella Blvd Studio Blog: Visiting Santa with Missy

Hey, Bella friends! Missy here, and we are continuing to share festive projects about holiday traditions this week using the beautiful Holly Jolly Christmas collection. Something we do every year is make sure we visit Santa. He always comes to my girls' school, and my oldest has never really liked him. I always try and see if I can get a photo of her on his lap, and she will sit for a split second, but then she's outta there! This photo is from a few years ago, and even now she's not too fond of him. I decided to create a large title as my background design. I cut HO HO HO in white cardstock on my Cameo and then backed the open spots with papers from the 6x8 Paper Pad and the Bonus Collection Kit Bonus Patterned Paper. I created a vertical design and added some watercolor sprays and some modeling paste to jazz up the background in coordinating colors.
I love incorporating the photo into the design itself when it allows. The big O was perfect for outlining my picture. I added some foam adhesive under it to give it some dimension and then embellished with die cuts from the Paper Pieces pack as well as some of the Fundamentals stickers and Washi Stickers.
sdg I adore all the hearts on the Fundamentals sheet. I layered a few of them here to bring a bit more color to this area of the page. I also used a 1/2 inch punch to create tiny circles from the other side of the Daily Details paper. I scattered them around the page because they reminded me of confetti.
Here you can see the fun texture from the modeling paste. I used a small circled stencil over the watercolor to create the idea of snow. I also machine stitched through the two smaller Hos for added detail.

I love adding tangled thread to my layouts. It gives a great pop of color and texture. That little Santa sticker is a Washi Sticker. I stuck it to white cardstock and cut it out.
