Happy Monday, friends! It's Amy Heller here today and I'm popping in today to share some of the cards I created this past weekend to house last-minute holiday gifts for the teachers, school bus drivers, and tutors that my kids interact with on a daily basis.
What I love about creating cards for these occasions is that it gives me a great excuse to reach for my my scraps first so that I can use up those odds and ends left over from my scrapbooking to create fun little card creations. Small bits and pieces always come in handy for little additions to cards!
This first duo features paper pieces as their focal point, then embellished with scraps - borders and pieces of paper that had been cut into for my larger projects.
The idea for the snow globe inspired card came from a scrap of white cardstock that I had cut into a circle, but didn't have enough to cute a full circle (you can't see that the bottom is cut off because the paper piece covers it!). Sometimes I think having less makes you more creative with what you do have. :)
The next duo includes paper pieces, 2x2" cards from the Daily Details embellishment paper as the sentiments, lots of scraps and even a gift tag for the snowman card.
I just love these adorable nutcrackers from the Paper Pieces assortment, and hadn't found a good place for them yet until I thought about placing them as a group on this card. Then I finished them up with a little Enamel Dot adding some shine, giving them that added importance.
This card was "complete" or so I thought after I had place the gift tag and the square sentiment, but after looking at it for some time - it needed something else. That's when I added the tree paper piece and it really pulled the whole thing together, both in color as well as composition.
My last several cards were very clean and simple - mostly because I was running out of time and had to do some holiday shopping still! So I created several of these sweet simple cards - and honestly, these are the types of cards that I would purchase or pick out if I were buying my cards - clean, simple, graphic, and still cute. The best part, is they were SUPER easy, used my scraps and and I was able to crank out several of these in just a short span of time - perfect for mass producing your holiday cards!
I hope you are inspired to use your scraps to create some of your last-minute cards this holiday season! Thanks so much for joining me today, and I hope you have a wonderful holiday!
