Hey, Bella fans! Missy here, and I’m so excited to share a new layout and process video with you today. I love creating mixed media layouts, and the new Illustrated Faith Watercolors are perfect for adding that extra bit of interest to a project. There are 12 small pans in this set, and the colors are just beautiful. I was inspired by the Free Spirit feather paper in the new Addison collection. I decided to create my own feathers, so I cut some on white cardstock with my Silhouette Cameo. Before peeling them off the cutting mat, I used the watercolors to paint them. I left some of them white and used papers from the 6x8 Paper Pad to back the open spots. They made the perfect background design for my layout.

One of the popular trends for using watercolors these days is the packaging technique. I added some paint to some scrap plastic, turned it over and smooshed it down onto my cardstock. It naturally creates a really neat watercolor look, and you don’t get the brush stroke effect. I did this to create some interest and color peeking out from behind all the feathers and my photo. My photo is a perfect match for the Addison collection because of the colors in my daughter’s shirt. Plus I found a really awesome quote on Pinterest for my title, and it ties into the feather theme really nicely.
One of my favorite things about the new Bella lines you get really cool patterns and beautiful solids. Backing cut files like these feathers allows you to use lots of patterns & colors without it being too overwhelming. Another fun new addition to the Bella embellishments are the fun Tabbies. I added one to the right side of my photo.
Look at how pretty the watercolors turned out on these feathers! The colors are very rich and beautiful, and the more you layer them, the richer the color gets. I also added some splatters. I also used a few of the new Illustrated Faith stamps here. I used some pink ink from my stash and stamped “believe” in a few places on the layout.
This cute arrow is also from that Icon stamp set. The Paper Pieces in the Addison set are so fun…this “awesome” piece was the perfect fit & color for this area of my page. I love how some of the Bella staples match these new collections, like these dark blue Enamel Hearts. I used a few of those around the layout.
Another fun new embellishment is the Washi Stickers pack. That cute heart is a washi heart! So adorable. There are also washi strips, and I used a piece of one as a layer under my photo. Here you can also see where I did some machine stitching through some of the feathers. It’s very subtle but still gives some added detail and texture.
There’s the yellow & white striped washi strip I mentioned. I stuck it to some white cardstock, cut it out and used it as a layer. I love this quote, and I just had to use it for my title. I mixed and matched some of the Fundamental Cardstock Stickers with some Tiny Text alphas, and I used my computer to print out the rest. I added my journaling right under the title as well as another washi sticker.
I hope this gives you some fun ideas to try with the new watercolors & new collections! There are some really awesome patterns, colors & images in all the collections that are truly inspiring. It’s fun to go through it all and see what jumps out at you.
Here’s my process video for this layout. I show you all the colors in Shanna’s Favorites Watercolors and how I used them on my layout. I hope you enjoy!
