"First Fracture" Layout by Gail Lindner
As my journaling reads . . . it happened! The first bone fracture in our family! Of course being the documenter that I am, I had to record the story in my scrapbooking! And there was no better time to document how tough my 5-year-old boy was than with the brand new Alex collection from Bella Blvd!
Let me tell you that I like to “get to know” a collection before I use it! Weird I know! So after spending some time sorting through the papers, digging through the paper pieces, tabbies and clips, I already had a favourite pattern that I *had* to include and pulled out a few of the bits and pieces that would suit my layout!
I stuck to a mostly blue and grey/black color scheme with some fun pops of red and color! Before I even started the layout I knew I wanted to incorporate the new Illustrated Faith Homespun Alpha stamps as my title. I grabbed some navy ink and my title stamped beautifully! They really are dream stamps to work with!
I easily added the rest of my title right over the top of my stamping with some small alphabet stickers.
While I was in the stamping zone, I also pulled out a couple of stamps from the Illustrated Faith Icons and Elements sets to add some detail to my background. I used quite a soft grey ink so it’s kind of hard to see in the photos but I wanted some of the cross background pattern peeking out here and there and the stamped arrows were a great accent!
Most of the layouts embellishing is around that centre photo strip but I added a small section to the top edge of the layout to balance it out.
Now don’t get me wrong, I hope I never have to document such an event of my son’s again BUT I am just so thrilled with how this layout turned out! A great mix of grunge meets scrapbooking and just perfect for this layout about my big, tough boy!
