Hey there, Bella friends! Missy here again, and I’m excited to bring you another scrapbooking process video featuring lots of fun Bella products. I love adding mixed media into my projects, so I was quite thrilled to see some beautiful acrylic paints in the Illustrated Faith collection. These paints are so vibrant, and the consistency is wonderful. I love how you can create your own color palettes or even your own patterned paper with paints. You can mix colors to create a new color. You can water down these acrylics and lighten them up a bit. There are a lot of possibilities, and I’m going to share one fun (and easy) technique with you today.
"Adorable Little Face", by Missy Whidden.
I knew I wanted to also incorporate a cut file into my layout, so I started with the Just Add Color Speak Freely paper with the tiny triangles on it. I placed it on my Cameo cutting mat and then started smudging small drops of the paint using one of the Paint It Cards. I started with the white to blend out some of the triangles. I came in with more of the colors and just made random smudges. The paint dried really quickly, and I was easily able to run it through my Cameo. I designed a whimsical flower and cut several of them out. The flowers look so neat with all the different colors on them! You could do this with any shape. You could also use a punch or just hand cut a shape out. This is a great way to make your “messy” painting look neat and clean. I couldn’t decide on whether or not to use a color or black & white photo, so I used both! My daughter’s shirt matches the paint perfectly!
I love how artsy the flowers turned out. I scattered them around the background and got them where I wanted them. I added a little bit of glue and then machine stitched through the solid flowers. I wanted to add in lots of black to this page, so I fussy cut flowers from the Star Struck paper. I also lightly painted around the edges of the Ciao Chipboard title and then took a black pen and doodled all over it to make it stand out a little more against all that color. I added some Tiny Text to finish the title and added some black enamel dots to the centers of the flowers.
Here’s a look at one of the flower outlines. When I cut the flowers, I did an offset on them which created an outline around each of them. So it gave me the full flower and the outline. I used a mixture of them both. I added in a few black & white stickers from Color Chaos as well as a few cuts from some of the Invisibles & Clear Cuts.
I always like to add pop dots under my photos to raise them up and add depth. This makes it a little easier to tuck things under them, like tangled thread. I am just loving these gorgeous colors! These paints really add so much vibrancy!
I love all of the fun and versatile Clear Cuts & Invisibles. I hand cut and punched several flowers from some of them. The Invisibles are a lot thicker and didn’t punch all the way through, so I used my scissors to cut them. But I love that they’re clear, and the black & white was the perfect addition to this page. You can even run the Clear Cuts through your Cameo. I’m sure you could do it with the Invisibles as well; you would have to really turn the blade setting up high.
Here’s one more look at that big chipboard title. I didn’t want to leave it white, and I didn’t want it to be solid black. So I added little bits of the paint to it and then scribbled on it with a black pen. I love the messy look, and it stands out a little bit more this way.
Here’s my process video showing how this layout came together from start to finish. I hope it inspires you to use some paint on a layout and let it be a focal point.
Thanks so much for stopping by! Have a fabulous day!

I love these flowers! Is there anywhere I can purchase a similar cur file? I don't know how to make my own. Thanks
