"Boys, Boys, Boys", by Leanne Allinson.
Hi there Bella Friends! It's Leanne here today with a clean and simple layout that will help you kick that mojo back into gear! Sometimes it's hard to get started with your creativity, am I right? When I find myself in a slump, I tend to fall back on a few basic rules. And once I've decided on the story I wish to document, it usually comes down to sorting out three elements - photo/s, color and repetition.
Today's story focuses on my three boys, which is perfect considering this layout is a prime sample of the number three! Not only does this particular number have design qualities (take note with the rule of thirds & placement of embellishments in odd numbers), everything I've added to my page is a subliminal representation of each of my sons.
In my journaling I've written how each of the boys have differences but still they influence each other. Much like my paper crafting combinations on this page.
To start with, I've chosen a 4"x4" photo collage with oldest, middle and youngest sons, in that order. I've printed the photo in color, which ultimately dictated the colors used to highlight each boy. The new Let's Go collection is perfect!! Mojo check .. step one and step two! The chipboard alphas have reinforced my plan for both color styling and now my play on repetition; Navy for Liam, White print for Ethan and Teal for Cameron. To be cohesive with the alphas I simply used a ruler to align the letter "B" and then eyeballed the rest of the chipboard to match.
Using repetition on a clean and simple layout is a great way to keep your ideas focused without too much clutter. The title work is not the only element but it is probably the most obvious. I've subtly supported this idea with other items. Here's what you might not have noticed. I've used three different patterned papers, three fussy cut luggage tickets, three clusters of orange for a visual triangle, and of course three stars. There are also three elements that have been mounted on foam tape and three IF Enamel Hearts layered on the title alphas.
To complete my page, I've grounded the black bordered journaling card with splashes of black paint to the background cardstock. This layout now has a touch of depth with the addition of the paint and the machine stitching. Finally with so many elements being repeated on the page I can check off mojo step number three! *wink* I hope these idea can help rescue you next time you find you creativity stifled.
