Hey everyone. Jamie here with some Pinterest inspiration. Today I get to share a recent layout I created based on an image I discovered on Pinterest. When I discovered this living room image I was immediately struck by the black and white and then that pop of yellow. Black and white always speaks to me. You should see my house. People tease me because my closet is black, white or grey. Hey, I say if it works for you go for it.
But a few things stuck out to me immediately in this photo. I translated this image to highlight four aspects. 1. Monochromatic hues with the black, white and grey. 2. The pops of yellow. 3. Black and white stripes. 4. Floral pattern. Let me show you what I mean.
"Happy", by Jamie Pate.
Here is the interpretation of that Pinterest image influencing a scrapbook page.
I went with a quad layout. I felt the living room had a modern and graphic vibe so to keep this layout in the spirit of the pin, I went with a 4-way layout. But let me show you how the rest of that images plays out on this page.
Monochromatic hues with black, white and grey - The black and white plays out obviously with the pattern paper choices. But the photo is what really picks up that element. Not only is it black and white, but the in between shades are grey. So this aspect fulfills that translation of the Pinterest image.
The pops of yellow - There ended up being more yellow on this page that I first planned. Again, pattern paper brings in the yellow. I like how this pattern from the Star Student collection still has white dots in it to play with the rest of the white on the page.
Black and white stripes - I love this bold impact of pattern. The Pinterest photo had just a bit of stripe going on. Here it plays an equal roll with the rest of the elements. And we have permission to do that with our interpretations of inspiration.
Floral pattern - I have used the paper before, only because I love it. But this Just Add Color paper only needed a bit of the Acrylic Paint to play up the floral pattern from the pin.
This was fun. I challenge you to do the same. Either use the image I found, and discover your own. Pinterest is an amazing source for inspiration to interpret into what you love. Give it a try. The possibilities are endless.
