Happy {inter} National Scrapbook Day everyone! We have so much to share with you today, so we hope you'll keep popping in throughout your day. I challenged all of our designers to create an "All About Me" layout, giving us a peek into a little part of their lives. Each of them also answered five quick scrapbooking related questions. We will be sharing these layouts, hour by hour today. And with two giveaways added in, we’re bringing you 12 hours of posts! So sit back, grab a snack, and get to know our designers just a little bit more, and hopefully their projects will inspire you the next time you go to create!
"Today", by Jamie Pate.
How fun is a National Scrapbook Day? I mean, seriously? A day set aside just for the fabulous art of documenting memories and making it all pretty and stuff? I’m all in. One (of many) pages I created for this day included a page that focuses on where I am at creatively right now. And that is the actual capturing of the memory. Photography. I have to confess that I have fallen off the wagon a bit of late. I noticed this downward trend and have been re-focusing since. And so a layout to simply mark a place in my album about the creative re-tooling I am in the middle of seemed appropriate for today.
For this page I started a bit monochromatic in the spirit of photography.
Very often white cardstock is my go-to canvas. Trimming a couple of the cut-aways from the Words of Wisdom paper gave some words and theme to the page.
A mirror-selfie helped set the tone of this page as well. The floral print from the B side of Star Struck was begging for a bit of water color. So I had to oblige. Pink being on trend for me lately was an obvious choice for the flowers as well as paint splatters on the page.
And of course there are words…some of my most favorite embellishments, word stickers. The bullet-point nature of adding these to the page support the journaling and give a solid theme to the page.
And that is a little of what I am doing this National Scrapbook Day. Re-focusing on photography. What about you? What needs a new focus from you today?

Jamie’s Q&A
- What are your top 5 supplies/products that you cannot scrap without?
Hot glue gun: Yes, I am one of those. I hot glue almost everything. Ruler: I use the edge to tear paper, distress edges, and make sure my linears are straight. Paint/ColorShine/texture paste: pretty much all the time found on my pages. Word stickers: This need goes way back. I have always loved word stickers. Especially in type set. Pink: I am noticing a trend of late.
- What do you listen to while you scrap? TV, music, or do you do your best work in silence?
Usually a podcast. Very often my fav playlist on Spotify. Every once in a while will I catch up on a favorite show online. And most often if it’s later at night simple silence.
- What is your favorite go-to technique or design element when creating?
I love to layer it all up. Plus there is almost always paint splatters and/or texture paste on my page.
- When do you do your best scrapping? Are you a morning scrapper, a late night scrapper, or do you find time during the day?
I love to scrap in the middle of the day when the sun is up and it’s brightest. Lots of light comes into my create space and that is what I love best.
- When the creativity isn't flowing, what do you do to get back into your creative zone?
I set a timer. Sounds silly I know…but I set a timer for 25 minutes and I play and create and don’t stop until it rings. Very often I discover I found my zone and I don’t want to stop.
Really like how this came together - love it!!
