"Cherish Always", by Laura Vegas.

The new Cute Clips are such a fun little embellishment! While the original Bella Bows were cute as well, I'm one that happens to think that anything in miniature size is even cuter! They're the perfect size for tucking here and there on layouts and cards. I thought it would be fun to create a border down the page with a variety of patterned paper pieces all layered together, and adding a cute little bow clip to each of those layered papers.

"Fabulous Memories", by Laura Vegas.

I was so excited to see these new Chip Script chipboard sets, as I love to incorporate chipboard into my projects. There's such a fun variety of fonts and looks to all of the words, and I just love the mix of the script font in there as well. They all come in white, but you can easily alter them to whatever color works for your needs. I went into this layout thinking that I was going to add color to a few of my chipboard words, but once I got going with the design, I realized they were perfect in their natural white.

Shanna shares the inspiration behind her newest She Blooms collection: Being a mother of two young daughters, it is important to me that my girls are rooted in faith. “God’s Grace Always Covers Me”, by Stephanie Buice.

I just can’t get enough of the new She Blooms collection, I really love everything about it down to the tiniest details. I had so much fun with this layout layering the papers and fussy cutting the flowers. I think my favorite new pieces are for sure the Enamel Hearts and the new Paper Pieces, I could play with this one all day!

“Sweet Baby Boy”, by Stephanie Buice.

The new Cute Baby Boy Collection is so much fun for a baby boy! I loved the little animals mixed in with other boy things like the little cars and trains, so I pulled out a few of my favorite baby pictures and decided to make a layout. I was laying all the new Paper Pieces out to see what I was going to use and I had a fun idea, I decided to make a little train on the bottom of my layout. I added in some of the chipboard pieces and some enamels to finish it off. My little one loves trains so this fit him perfectly.

"Sweet Baby Girl", by Laura Vegas.

I love seeing new baby collections from Bella! I think the little chipboard animals are so adorable, and wanted to use a few on this layout. I decided to create 4 columns of patterned paper and photos on the page, which broke the design up into blocks where I could add the chipboard animals, title, and other embellishments. I chose one of the slightly busier patterned papers (the floral) to add a full strip down the page, and then used some of the tone-on-tone patterns for the rest of the page. I also layered a white confetti Clear Cut transparency over a few of the patterned papers to add some extra interest and pattern.

The Let's Go collection is perfect for documenting all of your family vacations and weekend getaways. I am so excited to see the Paper Pieces back for this winter release, and with a whole new look. The pack is filled with so many great die cuts to incorporate into your projects. Pinterest Inspired

It's always been fun to browse thru Pinterest, looking at the endless ideas and inspirational images that are out there. Our designers always enjoy taking whatever image we provide them, and using it in whatever way inspires them the most as they work on their projects. It's amazing to see how many different ideas and designs can be inspired by just one image.

“Meet Red”, by Jennifer Chapin.

I was inspired by this month's Pinterest photo to use the red/green color scheme as well as the pom pom garland. I used a small circle punch to create circles of patterned paper, then adhered these to the top of my layout in a banner fashion. I then used my sewing machine to stitch through them. I used chipboard letters for the title, then some letter stamps as well. The layout was finished off with some journaling and enamel dots.

"Elf Antics", by Jennie McGarvey.

I was so excited by the Pinterest image. It's so very Christmas (FUN!) and then I was smitten with the felt ball garland. I wanted to take the circles and translate those into my Christmas themed page. There were so many directions I could go, but I wanted to keep it simple + bright, which would feel like Christmas to me.

Mix & Match

Today's feature is all about mixing & matching Bella's collections. One of the great things about our collections is that you'll find the same colors throughout, whether you're using an older collection from a year or two years ago (or more!) or a newer collection that you just got your hands on. While it's so convenient to pull out a single collection and work from just that assortment of products, it can also be a lot of fun to mix and match between two, three, or even more collections.

I love capturing fun happy memories. We had a few extra minutes the other day so I decided to stop at a greenhouse that had a huge forest of Christmas trees. My kids had a great time playing hide and seek. I'm so glad that I had my phone to snap a few quick photos. I used a mixture of Bella Blvd Christmas collections. I love that I could use elements from many different collections and they all match perfectly.

“Zip’s 2nd Xmas”, by Stephanie Buice.

My son has been asking for his Elf Zip to come back all year, “when is Zip coming home mommy?” So I decided that instead of just documenting some of his visits in my December Daily Album, I would go ahead and make him a page for our Project Life album. Since my assignment was to mix collections I decided to take some red and green papers from other lines instead of just the main themed Christmas ones. I arranged the little squares in the shape of a Christmas tree and worked my title into one of the tiers of the tree. I added in some other embellishments trying to keep my colors down to red, green and white with a few pops of yellow to tie in the tree topper stars.

"Ho, Ho, Ho", by Lisa Dickinson.

Since my holiday photos rarely match the traditional red and green color scheme, I love mixing in other colors and patterns on my Christmas layouts. On this page, I used several pieces from the Christmas Cheer and Make it Merry lines, but added in a dark teal from Illustrated Faith and a navy from Color Chaos. I used this mix of papers to fill the negative spaces in the snowflake cut background and love how they echo the color scheme of my photo. For a bit of added dimension, I also cut various snowflakes from vellum and layered them over my cut background. The vellum softens the background and helps the photo remain the focal point of the page. Small rhinestones embellish the centers of the vellum snowflakes and add to festive feel.

Holiday cards are so much fun to create and even that much more special to give. I created a card in the fall for an autumn themed cup of java card, and this season I created a card filled with Red Cups! You could add a gift card to your favorite coffee shop in this card. That would be nice, wouldn't it? Creating using several pieces of patterned paper makes it challenging at times, but the outcome or adding a few collections of paper together, especially Bella Blvd color themes is perfect for creating with scraps and a multitude of patterns too!

Tuesday's are all about illustrating your faith here on the blog, where we bring you projects that show how to work your faith and your beliefs into the creative outlets that we all know and love. Our Illustrated Faith focused designers combine the Bella Blvd and Illustrated Faith brands and products in a variety of projects that we hope will inspire you in one way or another.

“Testimony”, by Carol Chastain.

I am documenting my December in a mini album this year. While most of the spreads contain tons of Christmas Cheer, I am also including the hard stuff - particularly, the passing of my Great Grandmother. This is a difficult subject to tackle during the grieving process, yet in this Christmas season I am reminded of the Hope that Jesus brings, and without Him we would not have the hope of eternal life. So I thought it would be particularly fitting to use the verse from 1 John 5:11 combined with a photo of some flowers that were given in memory of her. I did a bit of journaling reflecting on this and her life, as well as including the card that came with the flowers. I am just loving how God's Word can be brought into my memory keeping in a way that speaks truth and hope.

“Whatever is Lovely”, by Wendy Antenucci.

Wendy here today, a totally addicted fussy cutter, lol! When I saw the beautiful script words from the Whatever is Lovely collection I had to cut them out. Lovely spoke to me as I was looking at these amazing beach pictures I had taken and was just amazed by the beauty of the scene. As I began to really think about how amazing our Creator is, my next response was to give Him glory.  

I paired my pictures with the Art Print that expressed that response. I then chose to use the small alphabets to write out Habakkuk 2:14, "For the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of God," on my pictures choosing to just let a few words really pop.

To add a little more color and interest, I cut out a sun from one of the Daily Detail pieces and sewed a few sun rays to add more texture to the page.  A pop of black in my border grounded my page.

“Merry & Bright”, by Kelly Holbrook.

Well, you can't see his face, but my son Oskar was totally excited to play out in the snow. If you have any experience with toddlers, you know that lasted only until he got snow in his glove ... which I think was a total of 15 min. I got my inspiration for this geometric heart from Pinterest. I used 2 1/8 inch squares cut in half diagonally, and then pieced them together. I layered on the White Confetti Clear Cut before adding the photo and embellishments.

December Guest Designer: Jill Sprott

We are so excited to introduce you to our talented December Guest Designer, Jill Sprott. Let's get to know a little more about Jill and check out the projects she created to share with us!

Hi!  My name is Jill Sprott, and I’m excited and honored to be a guest designer this month at Bella Blvd!

I hail from Oahu, Hawai’i, where I live with my husband, daughter, two quirky dogs, and a cat who thinks she is the head of the household. By day, I am an English teacher, but when the weekend rolls around, I exchange one stack of papers for another, of the patterned variety. I have been scrapbooking for over a decade now, and I show no signs of falling out of love with it. For me, it’s more than a hobby — it is all about learning to recognize the extraordinary in the ordinary. Through scrapbooking, I tell the stories that are uniquely mine to tell as well as the stories entrusted to me by others.

As the December guest designer, I was in a very merry mood as I created the first of my projects, a memento of Christmas past, using the Christmas Cheer and Christmas Countdown lines.

I began by layering manila tags in two rows over a sheet of patterned paper from the Christmas Cheer collection, and used those tags as a foundation for more layers, including stickers, tags, and die-cuts.

A bright yellow tag from the Christmas Countdown Paper Pieces adds some contrast to the basic red-and-green holiday color scheme.

"My Dog", by Jill Sprott.

A similar color scheme shows up on my second project. This time, however, the focus isn’t on the holidays, but rather, on the antics of my silly pup, Linus. This layout demonstrates the versatility and compatibility of Bella Blvd’s lines, as it pulls together papers and accents from multiple collections, including Family Frenzy, Make It Merry, and Illustrated Faith.

In pursuit of a whimsical style appropriate to the hilarious subject of my page, I used a sheet of “Here We Grow” Family Frenzy as the foundation for the layout, and stitched around it multiple times using coordinating colors of thread.

Within the stitched frame, I added dimension to each of the pattern-backed photos as well as to the title and journaling strips by using adhesive dots. To unify the photos and ground the design, I placed them in a cluster atop a satin ribbon.

"At This School", by Jill Sprott.

My third layout incorporates the Illustrated Faith collection, ideal for helping me to document life as a teacher in a parochial school. I also worked in bits and pieces from other Bella Blvd lines here, like a die-cut card from the Christmas Countdown, which I flipped over and placed over a piece of stitched cardstock.

For the title, I mixed letters from the Family Frenzy and Make It Merry Treasures & Text sticker sheets. I took advantage of the fact that the letters in the Make It Merry sticker sheet are white, and I altered them using watercolor pencils and a paintbrush dipped in water.

Looking back at these projects, I am reminded of what I love most about working with Bella Blvd’s products — all of that fantastic COLOR and vibrancy! I have enjoyed every moment spent creating these pages, and I’m grateful to Bella Blvd for helping to make each page meaningful in its own way.
