We are so excited to introduce you to our talented June Guest Designer, Patricia Roebuck. Let's get to know a little more about Patricia and check out the projects she created to share with us!
Hello! I’m Patricia Roebuck. I am from Louisiana. I worked for a major insurance company for 20 years prior to becoming a work at home Mom. I've been married for 24 years. My husband and I adopted our daughter, Emma, in July of 2009, so we consider ourselves a Chinese Adoptive Family, but 100% American. It was because of our adoption and wanting to create a Life Book for our daughter, that I got into scrapbooking. Besides watching shows, jumping on the trampoline, swimming (in the summer), spending time with our daughter and scrapbooking, I love photography. I scrapbook in 12x12 and 8.5x11, am a Project Lifer, and love to make cards. I have been so fortunate to be published in Scrapbook Trends, Creating Keepsakes, Scrapbooks, Etc., Scrapwerk, and Scrapbook & Cards Today. I currently design for October Afternoon, Pink Paislee and Hip Kit Club, and am a teacher at Big Picture Classes. I am beyond excited and thrilled to be guesting here at Bella Blvd.
"EEACC", by Patricia Roebuck.
The inspiration behind this layout is my daughter’s creative work in her enrichment class. She had to create a working bridge allowing boats to pass through with a budget of $10,000, and come up with her own company name. So I wanted her company’s name to be big and bold. I used the Arial block font and Silhouette to cut my title, then typed under each letter what her company name stands for with my journaling under it. Watercolors under the transparency at the top and bottom really helped bring all the colors from the Star Student collection together.
"Keep the Wild in You", by Patricia Roebuck.
The colors and textures from my daughter’s clothes and the butterfly that landed on her inspired me to recreate similar colors and textures from the Color Chaos collection. Using the Silhouette to cut out a large butterfly from white cardstock, I backed it with an Invisible, then stitched around it. I cut more butterflies from transparencies with my Silhouette, and added watercolors under each one before adhering. Since my photo has so much black in it, I needed something bold at the top to help bring the layout together. So I cut apart a black bow for the butterflies body and antennas and adhered to the large butterfly.
"Perfect", by Patricia Roebuck.
I love the colors and patterns from the Color Chaos collection, so I created this 8.5x11 layout using blocks. I picked two black and white patterns and the diagonal green for simple neutrals and then added the floral pattern paper for a bit more color and whimsy. The colors worked well with my photos pulling the red from my daughter’s shirt and the green from the grass. I added stitching in black to each block. Cut a label in half to add my journaling, and then added clusters of embellishments to finish up the layout.
First Grade Mini Album, by Patricia Roebuck.
Going into the First Grade was a big deal for my daughter and for us. I wanted to have a small mini album highlighting favorite photos and stories that would be great to look back on and something to easily flip through. For the smaller pockets, I printed my photos square 1.40”, leaving a border around them. I did a mix of larger photos in sizes 2.50” square and 4” square. I pulled together the Star Student collection to decorate the cover and for the inside pages. The transparencies were perfect to layer over pattern papers or use as is for my pocket pages. Once her year is over, I will add more journaling and more photos to finish this album.
I would like to thank everyone for stopping by today and also a special thank you to Bella Blvd for having me as their June guest designer!
