One medium that we see our designers using again and again on our Invisibles and Clear Cuts specialty papers, as well as our new Just Add Color collection, is acrylic paints. Jillibean Soup has an awesome collection of Happy Hues paints, and they were generous enough to send a set of paints to our designers, as we knew they would pair up perfectly with our Bella products. All this week, we'll be sharing projects from our creative team, showing creative ways to incorporate paints onto your layouts and cards.
"Happiness Grows Here", by Heather Leopard.
The new Bella Blvd releases are right on trend, allowing you to color customize your paper and embellishments as you wish. So when I received the new Jillibean Soup Happy Hues paints, I was in Heaven! The colors are so fresh and 'happy'. For today's project I wanted to put the Invisibles to the test. The nice thing about the Invisibles is that they has a glossy side and a matte side and I figured the matte side would allow the paint to stick a little better. Applying the paint was easy peasy. I just dabbed my brush in the paint and filled in the middles of the flowers and stars. It went on like butter and dried pretty quickly. Once it was all dry, I sewed the Invisible to my background, trimming off the edges and reusing it in the top left part of the layout. Next, I painted a border around the page using the yellow and green hues and I also painted a white photo corner yellow so it would perfectly match. I also watered down the paint and then sprinkled it on the background. I then added the photo, embellishments, title and journaling.

“Embrace Today” card, by Laurie Schmidlin.
When I first received the Jillibean Happy Hues paints I couldn't wait to try them out on some of Bella's new Invisibles collection! I did some "messy" painting on the back of the Click Click Invisibles paper using the following Happy Hues colors: Precocious Pink, Gracious Gray, Ravishing Red, Amiable Aqua, Outrageous Orange, & Yummy Yellow. I then layered on some stickers and Ciao Chip pieces and embellished with a Punch star enamel doodad.

"What Means the Most” card, by Laurie Schmidlin.
To create the background of my card, I started by painting messy circles on the back of the Newsflash paper (from the Just Add Color collection). I used the following Jillibean Happy Hues colors: Amiable Aqua, Yummy Yellow, Precocious Pink, Ravishing Red, Outrageous Yellow, Groovy Green, & Witty White. For the focal image, I thinned the same colors of paint with some water and did some more messy painting. After the paint was dry, I die cut the butterfly out and then covered it in clear glitter. I added some stitching, Enamel Dots, and a couple of stickers to complete my card.
Supplies:
Color Chaos: Treasures & Text; Just Add Color: Newsflash; Enamel Dots: Milk White; Enamel DooDads: Punch
“Celebrate” card, by Laurie Schmidlin.
I love how the Jillibean Soup Happy Hues colors go so well with many of the Bella Blvd colors and embellishments! For this card, I brushed on the following Happy Hues colors to create a rainbow background: Ravishing Red, Outrageous Orange, Yummy Yellow, Groovy Green, & Bashful Blue. I added some Ciao Chip pieces. I created the sentiment strip using some of the alpha stickers from the Just Add Color Treasures & Text sheet.
Supplies:
Color Chaos: Treasures & Text; Just Add Color: Speak Freely, Treasures & Text; Enamel DooDads: Oreo Black; Ciao Chip Elements: Hearts & Stars
