Who doesn't love a good sketch? It helps to take the guesswork out of the page and/or card design, but still allows you to put your own spin on things just be turning the sketch or altering it here and there. A few times a month, we'll be bringing you a new sketch, and showing you a few takes on the sketch by our designers. Today, we have our second sketch for March, courtesy of Becky Fleck.
“Bee Happy & Smile” card, by Shellye McDaniel.
To accommodate placing two of the 2X2 squares side-by-side, I went with a larger, 5X7 card. A smaller base paper (black dot) was cut to 4.5X6.5 and then topped with the same sized piece of Confetti Clear Cut. After attaching the grid of squares, they were machine stitched into place. I went with a horizontal row of embellishments to complement the vertical grid.
Supplies:
Color Chaos: Oreo Black Strandz, Bell Pepper Strandz, Daily Details, Treasures & Text, Trinkets; Clear Cuts: Ice Confetti; Simply Spring: Sunshine, Chipboard Icons; Ciao Chipboard: Flowers & Clouds; Enamel DooDads: Oreo Black; Enamel Dots: Bell Pepper, Oreo Black
"Life Is Wonderful” card, by Laurie Schmidlin.
I really loved this sketch! I started by cutting small squares of the black and white patterned papers from the Color Chaos collection. After stitching them on, I added various stickers. I followed the sketch pretty closely and added the circular messy stitching on the bottom right. Instead of a button, I added a Crochet Heart and a star Enamel DooDad.
Supplies:
Color Chaos: Treasures & Text, Trinkets, Ice Strandz, Bell Pepper Strandz, McIntosh Strandz, Oreo Black Strandz; Crochet Hearts: Gulf; Enamel DooDads: Oreo Black
"Springtime Hello" card, by Ashley Marcu.
What a fun sketch! I took the boxes and used them for a basic layout for my card. I changed the sketch a little bit by filling some of the boxes with papers, stickers and chipboard, while leaving other blank.

“Hello” card, by Kathy Martin.
After 3 ½ years on Bella Blvd’s design team this is my last project. Bittersweet! I thought I’d go out with a bang and create a colorful and funky design using the new Invisibles and Strandz patterned papers from the Color Chaos collection. Oh what fun it was to add a little of this and a little of that, all with adhesive foam tape creating lots of dimension.
Supplies:
Color Chaos: Peep Strandz, Orange Strandz, Pickle Juice Strandz; Invisibles: A Day At A Time, Referee, First Love; Enamel Dots: Cotton Candy, Bell Pepper
These are all gorgeous! LOVING the colors of everyone's cards!
