We are so excited to introduce you to our talented February Guest Designer Christin Grønnslett. Let's get to know a little more about Christin Grønnslett and check out the projects she created to share with us!
My name is Christin Grønnslett, a 40 year old Norwegian living with husband and two kids, 7 and 5 in a small town south of Oslo, Norway. I first came into contact with scrapbooking in 2002 after living and traveling in the US for six months, but it wasn't until my daughter was born in 2009 I started to scrap on a daily basis, and I haven't looked back. So when the kids are asleep I sneak down in my scraproom in the basement to scrap.
I started up as a clean and simple scrapper, but started new techniques, but you will never ever see me fill a whole page with patterned paper. I need my white space, like I need white walls in my house. Words that have been described my style has been artsy, whimsical, fresh and colorful.
Here are some of the layouts I made with the Bella Blvd products I was so lucky to play with.
“#Silly”, by Christin Grønnslett.
I am a messy scrapper, but not really when it comes to HOW I use all the technique products that I use when I scrap, it’s more that my desk is always so full of stuff that I want to have close (and never want to clean up after I have used) I also always work on multiple pages or backgrounds at the same time so I realized that it was too messy to use mists to spray – then all my papers and embellishments would be covered in mist so I had to come up with another solution. So I started using the mists by dropping the mist in water and using a waterbrush to spread the colors and drop more mists + stamp and add stencils. My biggest secret using this technique is to always have babywipes and paper towels ready to soak up unneeded water and color. With a collections called Color Chaos I had to go all out with colors for the background.
My 5 year old doesn’t like it when I take pictures, but every now and then she wants me to take pictures, but only if she is allowed to make faces.
Supplies:
Color Chaos: Bell Pepper Strandz, Peep Strandz, Blueberry Strandz, Oreo Black Strandz, Ice Strandz, Punch Strandz, Daily Details, Treasures & Text, Trinkets; Enamel DooDads; Crochet Hearts: Cotton Candy; Ciao Chipboard: Symbols
“#Vinter”, by Christin Grønnslett.
I am not a traditional scrapper who scrap to document, I am more in it for the fun and to just capture feelings, emotions and the many cute faces my kids make as they grow up. So this is just a winter face with red cheeks on the football field.
Supplies:
Color Chaos: McIntosh Strands, Ice Strandz, Scallop Strandz, Oreo Black Strandz, Bell Pepper Strandz, Just Write Journaling, Trinkets; Bella Bows: Gulf; Enamel DooDads: Milk White, Ice
“Klar for skole”, by Christin Grønnslett.
My 5 year old is 6 months away from starting first grade. She knows the letters and can write her name, but she is insisting that learning to read is something she will do in school, and not before, and it’s not easy to trick this little girl. Red is a color I often stay away from, I don’t know why, the fresh red in the Star Student collections look great.
I love working with layers, that way you can find a great way to pick up the colors in a photo and have multiple colors in the background. My thoughts about layering is that nothing has to be precise, quite opposite, I feel that it might get flatt and stiff when it gets too linear. I cut some pieces bigger and some smaller.
Supplies:
Color Chaos: Bell Pepper Strandz, Gulf Strandz, Just Write Journaling; Star Student: Geek Chic, Schoolyard, Treasures & Text, Artistic Clear Cut; Feather: Saffron; Amorie Chipboard Alphas: McIntosh; Bella Bow: Milk White
“Store tårer”, by Christin Grønnslett.
5 year old drama queen. I love the mix of pink, yellow, green and blue in the Simply Spring collection. The colors are a bit softer and I have used a softer color pallet for my background too.
Supplies:
Simply Spring: Spring Patchwork, Sunshine, Hippity Hop, Trinkets, Treasures & Text; Color Chaos: Pepper Strandz; Enamel DooDads: Ice, Milk White; Crochet Hearts: Punch; Ciao Chipboard: Flowers & Clouds, Symbols; Feathers: Carnation
“Relax”, by Christin Grønnslett.
Mixing the Color Chaos collections with the Star Student collection. I love how well the collections mix.
Supplies:
Color Chaos: Gulf Strandz, Oreo Black Strandz, Bell Pepper Strandz, Daily Details, Treasures & Text, Just Write Journaling; Star Student: Geek Chic; Ciao Chipboard: Symbols; Enamel DooDads: Milky White, Ice
“Lekser”, by Christin Grønnslett.
I sometimes do a little more linear approach to scrapping, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that I skip the watercolor feeling in the background, I just don’t show as much of it.
Supplies:
Star Student: Brainiac, Geek Chic, Daily Details, Borders, Treasures & Texts; Enamel Dots: Guacamole
