Welcome to Monday Morning Challenge, where we offer up a challenge, and share with you our designers take on that challenge. Today we asked our designers to create a year-in-review layout, using the Classic Calendars collection.
“Our Year in Review-2014”, by Stephanie Buice.
This year has gone by so quickly, it feels crazy that December is already here! This year has been filled with some pretty fun memories and this was just the assignment to showcase them. I used a calendar page as my base and used cut out names for each month from the border papers. I like how this collection can be so versatile, from using the pages as a month to month calendar, a background paper or as I have used it as a year in review page, so many possibilities. This assignment was a good excuse to take a walk down memory lane and dig through the hundreds of pictures I have taken this year, I think a Year-In-Review layout will become a fun tradition.
Supplies:
Classic Calendars: Treasures & Text, Oyster Calendar & Borders, Ice Calendar & Borders; Tiny Tots: Treasures & Text; Christmas Cheer: Treasures & Text; Max Treasures & Text; High Five Alphas: Color Wheel, Gulf, Piggy Punch
"His Year Captured: 2014", by Katherine McElvain.
When I was assigned to do a year in review I thought immediately of doing a layout of my oldest son. 2014 was a big year for him. He graduated from high school and started to move on in the world. Much of what he does, where he travels, where he works, why he works, and his friends has to do with his focus in life … cars. That being said this picture that his friend took of him was what I wanted to use to sum up his life at this point. I wanted the layout to look a bit chaotic, like his life, so I cut up the calendar paper and layered it. I also altered the Sienna letters to fit the layout by inking them and coating them with glossy accents. I wrote some highlights from the year in the calendar squares but made some pull outs to explain some of the events in detail. I think I would like to make a second page with some more details about his year. But for now I have a little peak into the memories of his life at this point.
Supplies:
Classic Calendars: Treasures & Text, Oyster Calendar & Borders; Scattered Sprinkles: Treasures & Text; Lucky Starz: Treasures & Text, Surf & Turf Starz, Candid Cards, Scallop Starz; Max: Treasures & Text; Family Forever: Treasures & Text; Simply Simona Chipboard Numbers: Oreo; Sienna Chipboard Alpha: Pickle Juice
