Who doesn't love a good sketch? It helps to take the guesswork out of the page and/or card design, but still allows you to put your own spin on things just be turning the sketch or altering it here and there. A few times a month, we'll be bringing you a new sketch, and showing you a few takes on the sketch by our designers. Today, we have our second sketch for December, courtesy of Becky Fleck.
“December” card, by Kathy Martin.
Hope you all had a very merry Christmas! I thought I’d make one last Christmas Cheer card for you with today’s awesome sketch! I used one of my favorite patterned papers in the collection, the bright and bold red and white stripes, as a backdrop for my design. Then I simply followed the sketch adding a horizontal element with ribbon and sticker, topping that with some tag-like accents.
Supplies:
Christmas Cheer: Reindeer Games, Borders, Daily Details, Treasures & Text, Trinkets
“Christmas Fun” card, by Ashley Marcu.
I love how this sketch focuses to creating a card with tags. I built two tags with fun stickers, tape, patterned paper and chipboard then arranged them on my card and finished my custom sentiment.
Supplies:
Christmas Cheer: Merry & Bright, Treasures & Texts, Chipboard Icons; Scattered Sprinkles: Ice Sprinkles; Tiny Tots: Love to Learn; Designer Tape: Yellow Chevron
“All I Want For Christmas” card, by Shellye McDaniel.
In place of the two smaller tags found in the sketch, I used two of the 2x2 blocks and rounded the tops with a corner punch. A row of crochet hearts were added to act as the border at the bottom. I also cut apart one of the sentiment strips so that the tag could read from: me to: you.
Supplies:
Christmas Cheer: Treasures & Text, Merry & Bright, Daily Details, Reindeer Games, Chipboard Icons; Crochet Hearts: Bell Pepper
“Our Favorite Place” card, by Laurie Schmidlin.
I love, love, love this sketch! Adding elements at an angle (tags or other shapes) is my favorite thing to add to my cards! Not only is it visually appealing, but I find it easier to add balance to my cards just by tilting a certain element more (or less). I used papers and elements from a couple of my favorite Bella collections, Snapshots and Daily Chevies. For embellishment, I added a bright and cheery Bella crochet heart!
Supplies:
Snapshots: Paper Pieces, Alpha & Bits; Daily Chevies: Chevy Pickle Juice; Crochet Hearts: Bell Pepper
The cards are wonderful. Fantastic layers. Well done.
