Welcome to Trending Thursday, where we pick something we are seeing trending within the scrapbooking industry and ask our designers to focus on that trend as they create their projects to share with you. This week we are focusing on confetti pockets!

“Happy Little Santa”, by Nicole Nowosad.

I wanted to make a pocket out of a word, so I cut the Santa title out of patterned paper on my Silhouette, lining the back of the title with some vellum. I also cut “confetti” from various Bella Blvd papers with my Silhouette and then added them behind the vellum area, over a piece of white cardstock so that the confetti peeked through the title. I stitched all around the cut out title to keep the confetti in place!

“Make A Wish”, by Kelly Holbrook.

Confetti reminds me of birthdays, and I thought the Molly collection was perfect for a birthday girl themed layout. For my confetti, I punched some shapes from patterned paper, and combined them with some of the little 'bits' from the paper pieces. I used a memorabilia pocket to hold the confetti, matted it on patterned paper, and stitched on a polaroid frame.

Paper Pieces die-cut cards are fun to accent with a clear window and a few sequins for a unique shaker card! I trimmed a small piece of acetate and adhere it behind the heart opening with high tack adhesive. Next I cut a backing of patterned paper to go behind the window. Before attaching, I carefully placed a few sequins on top of the acetate. The backing was attached with foam adhesive. I also added a couple of larger snowflake sequins; for those, I tacked them into the corners of the heart and allowed the round sequins to move loosely.

“Merry Merry Christmas” card, by Shellye McDaniel.

Re-purpose domed, clear packaging and create an easy snow globe card! Die-cut a circle cut-out that's just a bit larger than the packaging and use it as a frame. Attach a cute icon or sentiment behind the dome and fill with seed beads, sequins, etc. Use a high-tack adhesive or adhesive dots when you get ready to assemble. A border or twine around the dome helps to hide any areas that aren't hidden by the circle frame.
