Who doesn't love a good sketch? It helps to take the guesswork out of the page and/or card design, but still allows you to put your own spin on things just be turning the sketch or altering it here and there. A few times a month, we'll be bringing you a new sketch, and showing you a few takes on the sketch by our designers. Today, we have our second sketch for November, courtesy of Becky Fleck.
“Thanksgiving” card, by Kathy Martin.
With autumn leaves falling down all around town it was a no brainer for me to turn the flowers from the inspiration sketch to leaves. I’ll never forget moving to North Carolina ten years ago from California and how enamored I was with our first fall. So much so that I mailed all our California friends and family a box of leaves and acorns!
Supplies:
Hello Autumn: Gatherings, Autumn Floral, Time to Rake, Borders, Treasures & Text, Trinkets
“Blessed Family” card, by Shellye McDaniel.
I really like this sketch, so I stayed true to the design and pretty much kept things as-is. For the stems of the flowers I used the chipboard "L" from the Sienna Alphabets. I used a bit of brown machine stitching across the Borders paper, which ties in nicely with the round acorn sticker that I added for an accent.
Supplies:
Hello Autumn: Treasures & Text, Trinkets, Borders; Halloween Magic: Treasures & Text; Button Market: Outdoors, Merlot Flowers; Sienna Chipboard Alpha: Pickle Juice
“Thankful Tree” card, by Ashley Marcu.
I turned this sketch vertical and found the perfect papers, die cut pieces and stickers in Hello Autumn to complete my card. I love finding sentiments throughout the collections and found this one in Borders Hello Autumn.
Supplies:
Hello Autumn: Gatherings, Perfect Pick, Borders Hello Autumn, Treasures & Texts, Paper Pieces
“Merry” card, by Laurie Schmidlin.
I have always loved the bright, fun colors in the Christmas Cheer collection, but I think I love them even more when layered on a white background! All of the colors just pop! I followed the sketch almost exactly. The only changes I did was to add some score lines above the patterned paper strip and also add some rhinestones.
Supplies:
Christmas Cheer: Jingle All the Way, Chipboard Icons
