Who doesn't love a good sketch? It helps to take the guesswork out of the page and/or card design, but still allows you to put your own spin on things just be turning the sketch or altering it here and there. A few times a month, we'll be bringing you a new sketch, and showing you a few takes on the sketch by our designers. Today, we have our second sketch for October, courtesy of Becky Fleck.
“Smile” card, by Laurie Schmidlin.
I really love the Tiny Tots collection! The patterns and colors are just so much fun! I can't imagine any little one not loving a card created with it! I interpreted the sketch pretty literally, adding both Designer Tape and string for the horizontal strips. I added stickers and a tag from the Paper Pieces pack for the focal images. I topped it all off with an orange star Bella button!
Supplies:
Tiny Tots: One Fish Two Fish, Borders, Treasures & Text, Paper Pieces; Designer Tape: Navy Dot, Ice Stripe; Button Market: Orange Stars
“Happy Harvest” card, by Ashley Marcu.
This sketch inspired me with its fun lines and bold center. I chose to put my sentiment in the middle by trimming out a card from Daily Details Hello Autumn. It is the perfect focal point to show off the papers and stickers from my favorite line, Hello Autumn!
Supplies:
Hello Autumn: Time to Rake, Borders, Daily Details, Treasures & Text, Trinkets
“Happy Thanksgiving” card, by Shellye McDaniel.
For my card I chose to use several of the stickers and die-cuts and layered them together to mimic the square sentiment in the sketch. I used the tab and bookplate sticker in place of the banner strips and added a small bow for a touch of softness.
Supplies:
Hello Autumn: Autumn Floral, Day Dream, Treasures & Text, Trinkets, Paper Pieces
“Trick or Treat” card, by Kathy Martin.
Eek! I love the Boo Buddies paper with all the adorable children dressed up in costume and I’m thrilled that some of these little goblins were made into Chipboard Icons. To show off these two favorites of the Halloween Magic line I combined them on this card, framing the mummy in a layer of contrasting colors so that he would stand out.
Supplies:
Halloween Magic: Boo Buddies, Goblin Treats, Trinkets, Treasures & Text, Chipboard Icons
These are all gorgeous! I am LOVING the layers each card incorporates!!!
