Riley Blake Designs has just released a new fabric collection from Bella Blvd, featuring our Snapshots collection! You can check out the entire collection HERE, as well as find information on where to purchase Riley Blake Designs fabrics (including online retailers).
We thought it would be fun to put the spotlight on this fun new fabric collection this week. We send fabric to not only our wonderful fabric designers, but to some of our layout and card designers as well. We have a great mix of projects to share with you this week, all featuring the Snapshots fabrics. And a handful of the designers also put together tutorials for you as well!
Fabric Oversized Purse, by Christine Ousley.
I was so excited to hear that the Snapshots line was going to be made into fabric. I love the fun colorful cameras, houses and doodles. They sparked my creativity while choosing which fabrics to use on this fun, oversized purse.
This fun bag was made from the pattern, “The Shore Bag” by Tiny Seamstress Designs. The side ties are wonderful to widen or loosen the width of the bag.
The front of the bag has a handy pocket and the straps are nice and sturdy. Inside there is a magnetic closure at the top and a pocket for little things so they don’t get lost.
I can see using this bag at the beach, the park, or while traveling. It really was a quick sew, just took less than a day to make. It’s a great beginner’s pattern and one I know I will be making again.

Reversible Fabric Headbands, by Shellye McDaniel.
With the new Snapshots fabrics, you can whip up a huge variety of these easy-to-make, stylish fabric headbands! Select two different patterns and create a reversible version!
First, let's start with the pattern. You can create your own or search the internet for a downloadable pattern. I made mine by starting with a piece of 2.5"W X 6"H cardstock paper. Next cut the pattern so that it tapers to a 1.25" width at the opposite end of the paper.
After selecting your fabric (slightly wider than 2.5"W and 13"H) fold the piece in half lengthwise. Place the pattern at the fold of the fabric and cut around it. Repeat for the second piece of fabric.
Next, sandwich the fabric pieces together face-to-face. Fold down one end of each fabric piece and iron in place.
Cut a 10" piece of 5/8" elastic and place it between the two pieces of fabric; the tails should extend passed each end of the fabric; pin in place.
Sew around one end and both sides using a straight stitch. NOTE: Be sure to leave one end open.
From the open end, gently begin turning the fabric right side out.
Iron the headband. Tuck the free end of the elastic into the opening of the fabric, fold the fabric ends down and tuck inside as well; pin in place. Stitch around the entire headband with a straight stitch. NOTE: Retrieve the measurement of the headband to determine how much of the elastic needs to be showing; ours measures 8" of visible elastic.
They can be worn at the top of the head or just below the hairline on the forehead.
These are so quick and easy to make! Think of them when you're needing a fast party favor, stocking stuffer and keep some on hand for those last minute girly gift!
