For some of you, you have already sent your kids off to start a new school year, armed with new backpacks filled up with new school supplies, and ready to meet their new teachers. And for some of you, that day will be coming very soon. Our Bella designers have been busy creating back-to-school themed projects to share with you this week. We have a great mix of layouts, cards, and altered projects to help get us all in the back-to-school spirit!
"School Ready" by Leanne Allinson.
Next year, in January, my last baby goes to school (in Australia the school year goes from January to December). Not only will this event be quite the milestone for him, but it will also be quite a momentous occasion for me! And I dare say I'll be more upset than he will about the prospects of attending school! However, for the longest time, he has been content to wave goodbye to his siblings in the morning, as they ride the bus to school and happily come back home with me. This situation has clearly changed in the last few weeks. He is confident and ready to go to school. He does a lot of 'practicing' while at home and of course, now invents homework to complete alongside his brothers and sister after they arrive back home, in the afternoon. Today I have used the new Tiny Tots collection to document his learning process. The Alphabet Soup patterned paper is ideal! To further enhance my story, I've included a short video of my boy doing his 'homework' via a QR code at the bottom of the layout. Careful as to not obscure the details of the code, I've surrounded it with stickers from the Tiny Tots Trinkets and Treasure & Text sticker sheets. Finally, to transform this new collection into a school themed layout, I've added a McIntosh Crochet Heart with a small leaf, to repeat the apple motif found below.
Supplies:
Tiny Tots: Alphabet Soup, One Fish Two Fish, Toy Chest, Trinkets, Chipboard Icons, Treasures & Text; Lucky Starz: Carrot Starz; Amorie Chipboard Alpha: Blueberry; Crochet Hearts: McIntosh
ABC Banner, by Jen Chesnick.
My daughter doesn't go to school yet, but her daycare will be starting curriculum in the fall. One of the first things they learn are the ABC's so I thought how fun would a giant banner be? I must have been spot on because my daughter wouldn't leave it alone (it’s been hanging in my dining room for a week). Her daycare LOVED it. I punched out the animals with a circle punch and attached them to rings so they could take them on and off. I suggested she might want to laminate them!
Supplies:
Tiny Tots: Watch Me Grow, Toy Chest, Busy Bee, Flashcards A-L, Flashcards M-X, Flashcards Y-Z123
Pencil Holders, by Laurie Schmidlin.
My boys are getting to the age where "back to school" is not quite as fun as it used to be! I have found by creating some fun packaging for ordinary school supplies makes it just a bit more fun! In fact, my boys have already asked what I am surprising them with this year! To make these boxes, I chose a couple of similar patterned papers trimmed to 6 1/2" x 4 5/8". I scored the paper according to the template and glued them together. This size of box fits 6 pencils perfectly! I decorated each of them with stickers and embellishments from the Lucky Starz, Daily Chevies, Max, & Family Forever collections.
Supplies:
Lucky Starz: Oreo Starz; Daily Chevies: Chevy Pickle Juice, Max: Paper Pieces, Treasures & Text, Trinkets; Button Market: Neutral Mix; Designer Tape: Pickle Juice Stripe, Ice Stripe
“5th Grade” card, by Laurie Schmidlin.
Along with little homemade gifts, I like to include a card for each of my boys as they start their new school year! I combined items from the Max collection along with some papers from the Lucky Starz collection to create my 5th grader's card. I customized the card for him using some alphabet and number stickers.
Supplies:
Max: Paper Pieces, Treasures & Text; Lucky Starz: Surf n Turf Starz, Pickle Juice Starz, Color Wheel High Five Alpha; Designer Tape: Chevron Combo; Button Market: Checkers
Supply Box, by Kathy Martin.
It’s time for the kiddos to return to school! And time to pick out some new clothes, shoes and school supplies. As a girl, I loved buying new notebooks, pencils and papers. More than I liked school itself! Lol. And I remember using paper grocery bags to make textbook covers for all my books, doodling all over the covers when I was done wrapping them! Today, as a paper crafter, I enjoy making teacher gifts and cards and the Tiny Tots collection is perfect for these projects! Either for the teacher or student, you can dress up a mini lunch pail and fill full of supplies as I did for this project.
Supplies:
Tiny Tots: Toy Chest, Love to Learn, Busy Bee, Alphabet Soup, Daily Details, Treasures & Text, Paper Pieces, Chipboard Icons

I love adding beautiful scrapbook paper to school supplies! Love these projects. I love the idea of doing a QR code, too. One of these days I'll figure out how to do that!
