This week, our designers are focusing on creating patriotic projects of all kinds. We have layouts, cards, altered projects, and even a fun mini album. With both Canada Day and the 4th of July being celebrated this week, it's the perfect time to dig out those red, white, and blue products and have fun with them!
“Stars & Stripes”, by Stephanie Buice.
Nothing says America to me like a baseball game, especially on opening day. This was the first "date" my hubby and I went on after the baby was born and we had a blast! I don't know what makes me so emotional about it but the flyover gets me everytime! So there I am surrounded by screaming fans and I'm crying haha. This may not be where I'm originally from, but I'm super proud to call America my home sweet home.
Supplies:
All American: Borders & Cute Cuts, Just Write Journaling Stickers, Alpha+Bits, Chipboard Icons; Freestyle Sophisticates: Freestyle McIntosh
“America” card, by Diana Fisher.
I love navy! Navy is possibly the best color, and when paired with red and white, it just makes me smile. This blue star paper is one of my favorites ever made from Bella Blvd, so I was very happy to use it for the base of this card. The center decoration is from a few different Silhouette cuts on my Cameo all stacked together for a patriotic sentiment.
Supplies:
All American: United We Stand, Seeing Stars; Classic Calendars: Borders 2
“July 4th” card, by Diana Fisher.
This card is an explosion card. There is no bottom, so it isn't a box, but it folds to the left or right flat to fit into a larger envelope. The 4th of July is one of the best holidays to give an explosion card — it's like fireworks for paper! I used a Silhouette file to make this pieces of this card.
Supplies:
All American: United We Stand, Seeing Stars; Lucky Starz: McIntosh Starz
“Happy 4th” card, by Shellye McDaniel.
The "Summer Breeze" paper is adorned with clouds, as well as little 'bursts' which remind of stars or fireworks in the sky. I used it as the background for my patriotic scene by die-cutting a large circle of the paper and then embellishing.
Supplies:
Summer Squeeze: Summer Breeze; Classic Calendars: Treasures & Text, Oyster Calendar, Borders 2; Scattered Sprinkles: McIntosh Sprinkles; All American: Alpha+Bits; Crochet Hearts: McIntosh
“All American” card, by Shellye McDaniel.
Squares within squares are the perfect accent for a square card! I die-cut various patterns of 1.25" squares and then mounted them onto a piece of 5"X5" embossed cardstock. In keeping with the 'patchwork quilt' theme brought on by the pattern, I hand-stitched a few X's and star shaped buttons to the design.
Supplies:
All American: United We Stand, Borders & Cute Cuts, Alpha+Bits, Chipboard Icons; Scattered Sprinkles: McIntosh Sprinkles, Ice Sprinkles; Button Market: Stars
