Happy Memorial Day and welcome to Monday Morning Challenge, where we offer up a challenge, and share with you our designers take on that challenge. Today we asked our designers to create a patriotic project using pieces of the Lucky Starz collection, along with other Bella products.
“Making Memories”, by Wendy Sue Anderson.
I started this layout with a traditional patriotic layout in mind. You know - red, white, and blue with stars galore. The Lucky Starz line was perfect for this page – but I found myself wanting to throw in a little bit of the non-traditional teal color too. I love the addition! And apparently, I’m not alone because when I dug through my stash to find these older chipboard pieces from the All American collection, I found lots of teal mixed in with the traditional colors too! I had fun pulling bits of red, white, blue and teal from some of the other collections. Adding a splash of unexpected color is a fun way to mix things up and really make them personalized!
Supplies:
Lucky Starz: McIntosh Starz, Saltwater Starz, Scallop Starz, Oreo Starz, Treasures & Text, Candid Cards; Family Forever: Treasures & Text, Candid Cards; All American: Chipboard Icons, Words Flags; High Five Alpha Stickers: Black-White, Pink-Red
Patriotic Décor, by Jen Chesnick.
Patriotic Holidays are my second favorite holiday to create for (Christmas is the first) Memorial Day Weekend is typically my Husband birthday or my Daughters, so we always have people over. We like to sit on our porch and chat and watch fireworks. For this year I decided to create a Patriotic wreath out of Lucky Starz with matching decor and fun sparkler accents. Patriotic supplies are awesome because they intermix so well year after year. I mixed in All American accents on the wreath to add a bit of fun!
Supplies:
Lucky Starz: McIntosh Starz, Bell Pepper Starz, Scallop Starz, Surf N Turf Starz, Treasures & Text; All American: Chipboard Icons, All American Flags, Words Flags, Just Write Journaling
“All American” card, by Diana Fisher.
I love the added pop of patriotism that the red Macintosh Starz paper gives to this card. Paired with the fireworks and navy, this card is just so fun.
Supplies:
Lucky Starz: McIntosh Starz; All American: Borders & Cute Cuts, Alpha+Bits, Chipboard Icons
“USA” card, by Diana Fisher.
Blue always seems the more serious of the colors for Memorial Day, so I paired the blue Surf & Turf Starz pattern paper with the "American Hero" lettering from All American. This card seems more serious and would be great to thank a vet for their service.
