Who doesn't love a good sketch? It helps to take the guesswork out of the page and/or card design, but still allows you to put your own spin on things just be turning the sketch or altering it here and there. A few times a month, we'll be bringing you a new sketch, and showing you a few takes on the sketch by our designers. Today, we have our first sketch for May, courtesy of Becky Fleck.
“Life Is Good” card, by Diana Fisher.
I love the patterns in the Classic Calendars collection. I couldn't pass up the chance to use the dots on the Bell Pepper paper to coordinate with the circles on the sketch.
Supplies:
Classic Calendars: Bell Pepper Calendar, Treasures & Text
“Soak Up the Sunshine” card, by Laurie Schmidlin.
I think Montana must be one of the very last places in the country to see summer! I am so very ready to get outside, garden, & all of the other things that you can only do when the weather is warmer. My readiness for sunshine definitely played a part in my choosing the Sand & Surf collection this week! I combined papers and stickers to create a card perfect for any summer occasion!
Supplies:
Sand & Surf: Borders, Surfs Up, Alpha+Bits, Just Write Journaling Stickers; Button Market: Orange Stars
“Happy Summer” card, by Ashley Marcu.
This sketch was so fun! I changed it up just a bit as I was working with the flowers that I fussy cut from Wildflower. The sentiment is not only fun but also pulls in the colors from all of the flowers and designer tape. Since the flowers are so colorful I went for a neutral black on bottom.
Supplies:
Scattered Sprinkles: Peep Sprinkles, Oreo Sprinkles; Summer Squeeze: Wildflower, Treasures & Texts; Designer Tape: Yellow Chevron, Ice Stripe
“Summer Days” card, by Shellye McDaniel.
My first thought when I saw this month's sketch was to use a part of a Borders paper for the design! I love these sweet watermelons. After hand-cutting each one, I attached them at an angle for a fun and whimsical look. A portion of the scallop border sticker was added, along with a couple of the star stickers, which tie in with the 'seeds' on the watermelons. It just says Summer!
Supplies:
Classic Calendars: Oyster Calendar & Borders, Peep Calendar, Treasures & Text; Scattered Sprinkles: McIntosh Sprinkles, Peep Sprinkles; Summer Squeeze: Treasures & Text: Button Market: Stars
“Birthday” card, by Kathy Martin.
It’s so easy to whip up a card when you have a great sketch to follow! You can either follow the sketch as is or you can let it be your creative guide in mixing things up a bit as I did using letter stickers instead of accents at the top of the card.
Supplies:
Scattered Sprinkles: Bell Pepper Sprinkles, Pickle Juice Sprinkles, Treasures & Text; Summer Squeeze: Treasures & Text; High Five Alphas: Color Wheel
Loving the sketch and loveeeeeee what everyone made with it!! LOVING those flowers on Ashley's card and the watermelons on Shellye's card!!!
