Welcome to Monday Morning Challenge, where we offer up a challenge, and share with you our designers take on that challenge. Today we asked our designers to design their layouts and cards on an angle.
“Reader”, by Katie Rose.
I was super excited for this "on an angle" assignment! I decided to make rows of half circles and place them on an angle. I punched out a bunch of circles with my circle punch and cut them in half. After I decided on placement of my half circles I stitched them down for added texture. I added these cute pictures of my son, Max, reading and then place my title along the rows. For the finishing touches I added some stickers and that cute little fox which I hand cut from the candid cards from the Max collection.
Supplies:
Max: Shark Attack, Rock Star, Science Fair, Treasures & Text, Trinkets, Paper Pieces, Candid Cards; Family Forever: Family Photo, Family Game Night, Mom & Dad, Trinkets; Lucky Starz: Pickle Juice Starz, Gulf Starz
“Grandmas Make The Best Friends”, by Stephanie Buice.
Designing on an angle is a big challenge for me, I'm not sure why but my eye never seems to get it just right. Either the angels don't add up or something always ends up looking crooked to me which leads to me trying to measure out every single piece (haha). I'm always a big fan of the layouts everyone else designs so I'm glad we were issued this challenge. This layout is of Brady and his Grandma, their relationship is so special and full of love. He couldn't be any luckier to end up with the grandparents that he did.
Supplies:
Family Forever: Family Photo, Treasures & Text; Lucky Starz: Treasures & Text, Color Wheel High Five; Play Date: Alpha+Bits; Max: Treasures & Text; Snapshots: Apha+Bits; Designer Tapes: Chevron Combo
“A Smile” card, by Laurie Schmidlin.
One of my favorite things to do, it to angle strips of patterned paper so they are overlapping a little. It really is one of my favorite backgrounds! Sometimes I stitch the edges and other times (like I did here) I don't. For the focal image, I popped up a tag (from the Molly Paper Pieces set) and layered on an oval sticker. For embellishment, I added a White Crochet Heart.
Supplies:
Lucky Starz: Candid Cards, Peep Starz, Ice Starz, Color Crazy Starz, Pickle Juice Starz; Molly: Paper Pieces, Treasures & Text; Family Forever: Sunday Brunch; Crochet Hearts: White
“Be The Best” card, by Laurie Schmidlin.
I really love Bella's chevron paper. And what better angles to design with than chevrons? To accentuate them a bit, I stitched along each chevron. For the focal image, I layered two vellum hearts, a tag (from the Family Forever collection), a button, and a couple of stickers.
Supplies:
Family Forever: Family Rules, Paper Pieces; Molly: Treasures & Text; Lucky Starz: Treasures & Text; Button Market: Pink Flowers
These are just gorgeous!! What a fun challenge! I love both layouts and the cards are fabulous!!!
