Welcome to Monday Morning Challenge, where we offer up a challenge, and share with you our designers take on that challenge. Today we asked our designers to create a layout using at least 6 photos.
“This Is Happening”, by Kay Rogers.
I loved this challenge! I tend to be a single-photo scrapbooker, so this made me think outside of the box. I loved these photos of my youngest trying out the photo booth props for her sister's wedding. I wanted the photo-strip effect that went with the photo booth feel. She cracks me up!
Supplies:
Lucky Starz: Saltwater Starz, McIntosh Starz, Treasures & Text, Trinkets, Candid Cards; Sienna Chipboard Alphas: Pickle Juice
“Crafty Love”, by Leanne Allinson.
At first glance I'm sure you think I've missed the mark with this challenge. But look again! With the popular trend of file folders and mini albums at the moment, I thought I'd combine the challenge and file folder idea and create a hidden photo system directly onto my layout. I have one photo showing but there are eight more hidden!
Smaller sized layouts don't always have to have minimal photos, especially when there is a story to document. My youngest son recently built himself a pair of wings. He really loves "scrapbooking" - that's what he calls anything craft related. With this layout I wanted to document the step by step process he went through to make these wings (from Bella Blvd feathers no less!).
By creating a folder with a piece of scrap cardstock (3.75" x 8.5") I was able to attach my 4"x4" photo collages beneath the main photo.
The second and third photo blocks hid the cardstock completely and are folded flat with the application of two score lines (0.5" & 4.5" from the top of the cardstock). I also love that I was able to add two of the Bella Blvd Feathers to my layout as embellishments. The Oyster and Surf N colors compliment the new Max patterned paper collection perfectly.
Supplies:
Family Forever: Family Rules, Trinkets; Lucky Starz: Bell Pepper Starz; Max: Treasures & Text, Candid Cards; Making The Team: Cute Cuts; Feathers: Surf N, Oyster
“He Owns My Heart”, by Sheri Feypel.
It doesn't have to be 4th of July for stars and stripes to go together! That is what is so great about the newest Bella Blvd collections, many of them can be mixed and complement each other so nicely. I wanted my black and white pictures to really pop off my layout and feel that I accomplished exactly that with the white and yellow stripes behind them. I added a few stickers randomly throughout my photo spread and kept most of the embellishments above the photos. I recently discovered that most of my layouts have a majority of the embellishing off to the right, so I made a conscious effort to avoid that when creating my layout, as you can see by the placement of some of the stickers it wasn't easy.
Supplies:
Max: Rock Star, Paper Pieces, Candid Cards, Treasure & Text, Trinkets; Family Forever: Mom & Dad; Lucky Starz: McIntosh Starz
