It's always been fun to browse thru Pinterest, looking at the endless ideas and inspirational images that are out there. Our designers always enjoy taking whatever image we provide them, and using it in whatever way inspires them the most as they work on their projects. It's amazing to see how many different ideas and designs can be inspired by just one image.

“Today Is Candy Day”, by Stephanie Buice.
This was a fun inspiration challenge, when I first saw the picture my eyes immediately went to the black "wands" and I knew that those were going to be the base of my layout for sure. I used black patterned paper to mimic them and where the top white sprinkles are that's where I placed my photo strip. Color inspiration also played a huge role in my design, I kept the black, orange and white and added other colors with the Trick or Treat collection. I really liked the orange candy background the wands were laying on so I used an orange border to pull my layout together. The band around the plate also inspired the band across my layout, I felt like it really pulled the whole thing together. I have not used many pictures as inspiration for layouts so this was fun to me, I like how you have freedom to interpret them anyway you wish. I'll totally be trying this again soon!

“Today=Halloween” card, by Kathy Martin.
Eek! Making magic wands from black licorice sticks…such a clever idea! Those wands made me think of spider webs for some reason so I went with it using the same color palette as the Pinterest photo, adding a touch of green. And to kept things as sweet as candy, I tossed in a candy corn sticker.

“Little Spooks” card, by Kathy Martin.
For my second card I followed the look of the Pinterest photo with an orange and white background, black center and a wrapping around the middle. I’m not sure if those little round things are M&Ms or maybe they’re Skittles? I tossed in a few enamel dots to keep with the look.

“Spooky Style” card, by Ashley Marcu.
This is such a fun inspiration picture! I was immediately drawn to the long rectangular shapes and tried to mimic that with long symmetrical shapes on my card. I also was inspired the layers of colors. You can find black layered on top of orange with a white frame on my card just like the photo. Finally, I tied in the orange circle candy by using a Pick A Punkin’ patterned paper which has similar shapes and colors.

“Hugs” card, by Ashley Marcu.
For my next card I wanted to use the inspiration in a different way. The black licorice in the photo reminded me of arrows so I used the arrow pattern in Hurry Up and kept it long and vertical just like the licorice in the photo. Next, I was really drawn to the label. I love how it stands out and makes a fun statement in the photo so I took a little time to create a fun label of my own with decorative tape, a paper piece and a die cut sentiment.
