For the next two days, we are putting the spotlight on patterned paper. Specifically, mixing and matching different patterns from different collections to create our projects. One of the great things about our collections is that so many of the same colors show up in collection after collection, making it easy to mix and match papers into countless combinations.
"Our World", by Becky Williams.
One of my very favorite things to do in scrapbooking and a way to make your paper go farther is to mix and match paper collections. The complementary hues in paper collections make this very easy to do with Bella Blvd. Here I created a simple page with strips of paper from four of the new lines.
Supplies:
Snapshots: Borders, Free Time, Rise & Shine, Bookplates, Alpha+Bits, Paper
Pieces; Daily Chevies: Chevy Carrot; Trick or Treat: Spooky Town, Borders,
Captions; Christmas Countdown: Daily Details, Alpha+Bits; Play Date: Captions; Crocheted
Hearts: Pickle Juice, Punch, Gulf
“Run or Dye”, by Diane Payne.
I did a fun run with a friend recently where the entire purpose is to get dye thrown at you and at the end you have a very colorful shirt and skin! I wanted the layout to reflect the feel of the run so I used water colors to create big splotches of color that was similar to the logo on the t-shirt. Once the background was done I used bits and pieces of papers from a variety of collections that matched the colors of the dyes for layering and my title. I did spend some time trying to find papers that matched exactly, but the great thing about Bella papers and embellishments from each collections is that they all mix so well together, I really couldn't go wrong with my selections.
Supplies:
Snapshots: Borders, Captions; Play Date: Park Play, Chasing Rainbows, Little
Birdie, Today is Beautiful, Daily Details, Alpha+Bits; Trick or Treat: Leaf
Storm; Birthday Boy: Toadilly Cool; Baby Boy: On the Go; Daily Chevies: Chevy
Pickle Juice, Arrows Black & White, Arrows Pickle Juice, Arrows Pink,
Arrows Gulf; Finally Fall: Borders; High Five Alpha Stickers: Black-White; Button
Market: Tie Dye, Orange Stars, Stars
“UR Awesome” card, by Shellye McDaniel.
This was a quick card to put together and a great way to use up those scraps! When working with an A2 card (4.25 X 5.5) just cut four strips of paper to 1" X 5.25". I used a square punch (insert tip of paper in at an angle) to create a banner look for each strip. Before adding the Flag, I cut it in half on the diagonal so that it would match up with the point of the star.
Supplies:
Christmas Countdown: City Sidewalks, Captions; Snapshots: My Point of View, Tabs,
Paper Pieces; Play Date: Today is Beautiful; Trick or Treat: Happy Owlween; Flags:
Sunshine & Happiness; Sienna Chipboard Alphas: Pickle Juice
“Hello Happiness” card, by Shellye McDaniel.
For this card I stayed with the rule of three ... three colors and three focal points (hearts) that created the visual triangle. The crochet hearts alone looked a little lonely, so I hand-cut three of the hearts from the Chevy Peep paper and sanded around the edges before attaching them.
Supplies:
Snapshots: Daily Details; Freestyle Sophisticates: Freestyle Pickle Juice; Daily
Chevies: Chevy Peep; Play Date: Chasing Rainbows, Tabs, We Are Family
Bookplates; Button Market: Fruit Punch; Crochet Hearts: Pickle Juice
“Hello Happiness” card, by Kathy Martin.
No matter what Bella Blvd. collection I’m working with, I almost always add a little Sophisticates, Freestyle Sophisticates or the new Daily Chevies … they’re made to match! For my Hello Happiness card I used Gulf Freestyle Sophisticates with the Snapshots and Play Date lines. Don’t they look like they all belong to the same collection? I love how easy it is!
Supplies:
Snapshots: Daily Details, Alpha+Bits; Freestyle Sophisticates: Freestyle Gulf; Play Date: Daily Details; Trick or Treat: Captions; Love and Marriage: Alpha+Bits
“Happy Day” card, by Kathy Martin.
It’s so easy to mix and match patterned papers from different Bella Blvd collections since they’re created with coordinating colors and patterns! For my Happy Day card I was able to seamlessly combine four different lines! Would you believe one of the papers is from the Love and Marriage collection and works perfectly for Halloween? Can you guess which paper that is? It’s the black lined paper!
Supplies:
Trick or Treat: Spooky Town, Alpha+Bits, Tabs; Love and Marriage: Borders;
Snapshots: Hurry Up; Daily Chevies: Chevy Carrot; Feathers: Orange

One thing I LOVE about Bella, is that the paper is timeless and it always is usable. I love that I can mix and match papers from different lines and they are seamless. It is a real gift to have that in a design. I never feel like I am limited to that papers in one line.. A great example is the engaged line... I thought OH I don't need that, I have been married 20 years... but then I saw it and thought..OHHH I can use that and that and that..I just wish I could get my hands on all the embellishments.... :)
