Welcome to Trending Thursday, where we pick something we are seeing trending within the scrapbooking industry and ask our designers to focus on that trend as they create their projects to share with you. Today, we are focusing on confetti, which has been spotted sprinkled over projects just about everywhere we look.
"Rainbow
of Possibilities", by Leanne Allinson.
Confetti has been one of my favorite trends to use on scrapbooking layouts for some time now! I love the fun and flair it brings to a page without creating too much clutter. To create this look I simply reached for my office supply hole punch and the beautiful collections of Freestyle Sophisticates and Daily Chevies. These patterned papers compliment the new Play Date collection perfectly! I've also highlighted the sunburst rays by hand stitching with similar colored embroidery floss, along lightly marked pencil lines.
Supplies:
Play Date: Chasing Rainbows, Little Birdie, Park Play, Today Is Beautiful, Captions;
Daily Chevies: Chevy Carrot, Chevy Pickle Juice, Chevy Peep; Freestyle
Sophisticates: Freestyle Saltwater, Freestyle Gulf, Freestyle Pickle Juice,
Freestyle Banana, Freestyle Cotton Candy, Freestyle Peep, Freestyle McIntosh;
Crochet Hearts: Pickle Juice Hearts, Bell Pepper Hearts
"Days Like These", by Becky Williams.
I have seen many projects using the current confetti trend but I'd never before attempted using it myself so this was a really fun project! I used a cut file for the star/heart/square/triangle confetti and then arranged them piece by piece in a heart shaped border around the pictures of my youngest daughter. It was a bit tedious and time-consuming to glue down each piece but was something I'll definitely try again!
Supplies:
Snapshots: My Point of View, Daily
Details, Free Time, Alpha+Bits, Captions; Christmas Countdown: Daily Details; Trick
or Treat: Leaf Storm, Spooky Town
“Every Day Life” card, by Laurie Schmidlin.
For this card, I took the confetti theme and ran with it! I started by cutting some circles out of the Snapshots background paper with my Silhouette Cameo and then backing it with a coordinating cardstock color. After layering on a piece of coordinating patterned paper, some new Snapshots Paper Pieces (that I added some chunky glitter to), and a heart sticker (from the new Snapshots Captions sheet) I sprinkled on some white sequins.
Supplies:
Snapshots: Pajama Day, Hurry Up, Paper Pieces, Captions; Button Market: Orange Stars
“Beware” card, by Laurie Schmidlin.
I couldn't help myself. When I first saw the confetti theme for this week, I immediately thought of the Trick or Treat collection! I couldn't wait to splatter some stars over some of the super cute Trick or Treat papers! And because I think confetti and glitter go together, I added some sparkly black glitter around the edges of the Daily Detail that I chose for the focal image. For the sentiment, I popped up a sticker from the Trick or Treat Captions.
Supplies:
Trick or Treat: Daily Details, Borders, Spooky Town, Trick or Treat, Captions;
Button Market: Stars
