Twice a month, we'll be bringing you a new sketch, and showing you a few takes on the sketch by our designers. Today, we have our first sketch for July, courtesy of Becky Fleck.
"All American Gymnastics Friends", by Becky Williams.
When I saw these pictures of my daughter with some of her good friends from gymnastics I knew the All American collection would be perfect! I followed the sketch pretty closely using patterned paper and a mix of Designer Tapes for the strips and the little flowers are from the Alpha+Bits sheet, I simply cut around the edge, cutting the shape out of the circle and added some foam adhesive the back.
Supplies:
Family Dynamix: Quadrants; All American: Seeing Stars, Boom Boom Pow, United We
Stand, Alpha+Bits Stickers, Just Write Journaling Stickers, Ciao Chip Icons; Designer
Tape: 12mm Combo, Blue Chevron, Navy Dot, Red Dot, Ice Stripe, Red Chevron,
Gray Dot; Sienna Chipboard Alphabet: Ice; High Five Alpha Stickers: Brown-Cream
“Observations”, by Sheri Reguly.
I recently came across these photos of my daughter, and found it so hard to believe that it’s nearly been four years since the date they were taken. Sometimes we forget just how quickly the days go by. After a little bit of reminiscing, I jotted down my journaling, and printed off the photos to create this page. This fun sketch gave me the perfect opportunity to use up some of those wonderful scrap pieces that I had saved up. I opted for a fun mix of girly colors and playful elements.
Supplies:
Engaged At Last:
Bachelorette Extras; Love and Marriage: Esther Fleming Floral; Sand & Surf:
Miniatures; Kiss Me: Love Notes; Birthday Girl: Alpha+Bits Stickers; Sunshine
& Happiness: Borders, Miniatures; Winter Wonder: Icy; Designer Tape: Pickle
Juice Chevron; Button Market: Gulf Squares
“Snap Happy”, by Gina Lideros.
This was a fun sketch to work with, I stuck pretty close to the original which brought my layout together fast. I only made a few small alterations along the way. I really wanted to showcase this self portrait of my daughter but I only had 1 photo so I placed a polaroid die-cut where the second photo should be. I also changed the direction of the spray pattern and added some confetti for a fun look. I kept the strips of pattern papers in the center of the layout (just like the sketch), but added a hexagon to the background. I love that the Freestyle Sophisticates are so versatile, they are perfect for any occasion!
Supplies:
Sand & Surf: Alpha+Bits Stickers, Miniatures; Engaged At Last: Bachelorette
Party, Bachelor Extras, Alpha+Bits Stickers; All American: United We Stand; Freestyle
Sophisticates: Freestyle McIntosh, Freestyle Banana, Freestyle Gulf, Freestyle Saltwater,
Freestyle Scallop, Freestyle Pickle Juice; Designer Tape: Gray Chevron; Crochet
Hearts: Gulf, Bell Pepper; Ciao Chip Elements: Stars & Hearts
“Fun At The Fair”, by Allyson Meinholz.
I truly enjoy doing sketches, as they fit really well with my busy life. For this sketch, I used photos from the state fair. I decided to use mainly the Sand & Surf collection. For the strips behind the photos I used a combination of designer tapes, cardstock border stickers and paper. I was happy with the end result. I even added some journaling, which I am not usually not one to do much journaling.
Supplies:
Sand &
Surf: Alpha+Bits Stickers, Borders; Freestyle Sophisticates: Freestyle Banana;
Sienna Chipboard Alphas: Pickle Juice; High Five Alpha Stickers: Pink-Red;
Crochet Hearts: Bell Pepper; Designer Tape: Polka Dot Combo
