Fabric Beach Towel Bag, by Tiffany Hood.

I'm getting in the mood for summer even though it's still snowing here in Utah. I wanted to make some projects for my kids for the beach and swimming lessons- so I made a Beach Towel Bag. I'm hoping all my kids will have one before summer to tote around their swimming gear in.

 

These bags are great because it's actually a towel with a square of fabric sewn to the outside of it, and a drawstring. The bag never gets lost because it's attached.

There's an extra pocket on the outside for more gear, but the inside is actually very roomy. Even with the towel folded inside it I could easily fit sandals, sunscreen, toys, sunglasses and a small lunch. These are very cheap to make, too. I got the towel at Wal-Mart for about $3.50 and it's big and super soft, and the Puppy Park fabrics were a perfect match.

Sunny Happy Quilt, by Kathy Frye.

This quilt is named after the fabric line, Sunny Happy Skies, and that is just what it is, sunny and happy! I designed it by framing the appliqued flowers in the quilt blocks. My style of quilting is very scrappy, so the fabrics that frame the flower blocks were strips and scraps that I combined to make the blocks the right size. I like to add little scraps in with the strips as a surprise element. I used various widths of green rick rack for the flower stems, easy and cute!

Easter & Spring Themed Cards

So far this week, we have covered Easter and spring themed altered projects and layouts. So that means we are sharing Easter and spring themed cards with you today!

“Easter Happiness” card, by Laurie Schmidlin.

Nobody does happy, spring filled colors like Bella does! Just looking at all of the bright, cheery colors almost makes me forget the snow and cold outside! I combined papers and stickers from the Spring Flings and Easter Things collection. I embellished the card with Bella button and a Gulf Crochet Heart.

“Sweet” card, by Laurie Schmidlin.

When I first saw this cute bunny (from the Spring Flings and Easter Things Ciao Chip Icons), I couldn't help but think of Easter baskets and eggs!  So, that is what I created...a perfect backdrop for this too sweet bunny!  I used my Silhouette to cut out an Easter basket shaped card (complete with vellum behind the basket). I embellished the card with a tag, Crochet Heart, and a Pink Flower button.

“Happy Easter” card, by Carina Lindholm.

Bella Blvd came out with so many new wonderful designer tapes this CHA, and I love them all. So I wanted to make a fun Easter card using many of the new tapes. I started off by tracing the egg patterns on the green paper and cut out the egg shapes. Then I cut out the egg shapes in plain cardstock and covered them in all the different tapes. I stitched along the edges of the tapes to give my Easter eggs another fun detail. Then I adhered the colourful eggs on the back of the green paper before adhering it to the card.

I love spring. It’s my favorite time of the year. I can’t wait for spring to come this year, I am totally over winter. I went all giddy then making this card, I love the colors and all the super cute flowers on the patterned paper. And the chipboard icons are to die for.

I went a little flower crazy on this card as I did a lot of fussy-cutting and combined the new Bella Blvd lines with the Spring Flings and Easter Things line from last year. Hey it works because all these lines mix and match so well together! Thanks for looking!

"Hi" card, by Gretchen McElveen.

I used a sheet of the Freestyle Sophisticates (Cotton Candy) as the base of this card. Then I used different elements from several Bella lines to embellish the card. I used stickers from the Spring Flings and Easter Things line. The striped strip is from Engaged at Last and the big flower sticker is from the Sand and Surf Just Write Journaling Stickers. I even dug through the Bella buttons and flags that I have been hoarding and made myself use some on this card!

Easter & Spring Themed Layouts

We are continuing with our Easter and spring themed projects, and today is all about layouts. I love that our designers got creative and used a variety of collections to create their layouts, even pulling products from the Love And Marriage and Birthday Girl collections, showing how versitle our collections can be.

This year I decided to create a little Easter display for my kitchen table, I went hunting around my house and also at the local shopping center for the perfect pieces. I wanted it to be bright and cheery so I went for crisp white with a touch of yellow and pink! When I printed off my photos and started looking through my papers the soft grey woodgrain pattern from the Love and Marriage Smokeys in love paper was a perfect subtle backdrop for my photos. I added in little touches of pink and yellow around my layout to pull it all together.

"Spring Spectacular", by Yohko Takiguchi.

As soon as I saw March Sketch #1 I fell in love. So I decided to use this sketch for my spring layout. I used a photo of “Hanami”, the Japanese traditional custom of enjoying the beauty of cherry blossoms in April. The cherry blossom is the national flower of Japan and there are cherry trees everywhere in Japan!

"The Easter Egg Hunt", by Leanne Allinson.

I've been wanting to make my layouts more interactive lately, as well as document the story behind the photo and use gorgeous patterned paper. With Easter approaching I also thought this would be the perfect time to see if my idea works!

First I created a small card with a pop-up rabbit inside. I found a free pop-up rabbit template on Pinterest and sized it to fit into the card that would be adhered to my layout. I traced the template onto cardstock and then covered it with patterned papers from Bella's Birthday Girl collection. 

The embellished template was then folded and adhered to the card. The next step was to fussy cut enough flowers from the Sand & Surf Paradise patterned paper, to embellish both the front and inside of the small card. I also mixed in some fussy cut flowers from the Birthday Girl Party Dress patterned paper, to create more depth and interest. 

When it came to designing my layout, I still wanted to retain some white space and keep the flap of the card somewhat disguised until you looked closely. The discreet paper clip holds the flap down so the focus remains on the photo. As the card opens, it reveals my journaling and the surprise 3D element of the bunny.

The front of the card then covers my photo so that the focus now changes to settle on the bunny in a field of Spring flowers.

To attach the card to my layout, I used strong double sided tape. Another option would be to machine stitch it into place. The layout was then completed with clusters of more fussy cut flowers and an Easter banner in the top corner, created from the Spring Flings and Easter Things miniatures stickers.

Easter & Spring Themed Altered Projects

With Easter less than a week away, I asked our designers to focus on Easter and spring themed projects to share this week. Today, we are sharing projects from our Altered Project Designers.

Easter Eggs, by Wendy Antenucci.

Every home needs a basket of eggs for Easter and what better way to make eggs that won't fall apart, but with paper mache eggs, designer tapes and my favorite glitter!

Easter Bunny Treat Cone, by Shellye McDaniel.

With patterned papers readily available, it's quick and easy to whip up a variety of treat cones. I put a twist on my cone making by folding a 12x12 piece of paper in half and then folding in the sides as you would make a paper airplane. Smaller squares of paper could also be used. 

For the bunny ears I hand-cut a large heart shape, then cut it in half and sewed on a smaller half-ed heart for the inside of the ears. I didn't want the ears to resemble an actual 'heart', so I glued the pieces so that the 'cut' edge of the heart faced the outsides of the bunny head. 

For the whiskers, I took a length of grey dot Designer Tape and folded it back onto itself. I then cut strips into each end of the tape, leaving about 1/2" uncut at the center. I curled the whiskers by using a scissors' blade. The eyes can be fashioned in so many ways, but for this bunny I simply layered two different button shapes and then topped with a brown pearl. Fill with shredded grass and add a ribbon bow for hanging!

“Hello Spring” altered frame, by Shellye McDaniel.

When wooden items go on sale at Hobby Lobby or Michael's, I grab as much as I can. They're such an inexpensive item to alter for fun projects! 

For the frame, I removed the plexi-glass from the inside so that I could create a dimensional display with layered chipboard pieces and a 'hello spring' banner on foam dots. 

I painted around the edges of the frame and then traced the shape onto patterned paper. Using an Xacto knife is an easy way to trim out the center. Add a loop of ribbon to the top if you'd like to hang it. Finally, a row of cheerful crochet hearts line the path for a bicycle on a spring journey!

Easter Egg Cups, by Jennifer Edwardson.

My kids love decorating eggs and they get excited to put them out for the Easter bunny each year but the 'cups' that come with the coloring kits just aren't cute enough for me. So I like to make my own. This year I got out all my bits from Spring Flings and Easter Things and started cutting.

I created the bases from border strips and pieces of patterned paper. I used a few border punches on some and sanded all the edges. I secured them using Scor Tape as they will take some weight once the eggs are sitting on them. I used Cute Cuts, stickers and shapes that I precision cut from the papers to embellish and I even got a pink feather in there too. I can't wait to set these out for the eggs.

Easter Basket, by Jennifer Edwardson.

I wanted to create a cute little Easter basket to put out with our decorations this year and Spring Flings and Easter Things is my all time favorite Easter collection. I took a smaller 4 x 4" cardboard box and cut the top and side flaps off and then covered the sides with patterned paper. 

I cut a strip of cardstock and covered it in designer tape and then border punched it to create the handle (LOVE). I added a crochet heart with a button to the top to finish it off.

I ribbon folded more designer tape around the top edge of the basket and then precision cut little eggs to decorate the base of the basket. I added more cute cuts to the front with some stickers, chip shapes and twine too. I put some krinkle cut paper in the bottom and tucked a green feather inside the front edge and then it was ready to add the eggs and chocolate. I love how this came together!

Paper Carrots, by Jennifer Edwardson.

This was a fun little afterthought as I was creating my Easter projects this year. I cut different lengths of the orange polka dot paper (popsicle kisses) and then rolled them into cone shapes. I adhered the ends using a super strong quick dry glue and then got out my designer tape. I cut the green patterned paper (petal power) into wide strips and then cut long strips almost to the edge to create the tops for my carrots. I adhere these pieces inside the top of each carrot 'cone' and curled the ends over my stylus.

I wanted to add a bit of dimension to the 'carrot' so I adhered the orange designer tape from the Polka Dot Combo pack to a piece of cardstock and then punched mini circles out and adhered them lightly onto the outside so they appear to be bumps on the carrots.I filled them each with candy and they were ready to add to our Easter Décor!

March Guest Designer: Tamara Tripodi

We are thrilled to introduce you to our March Guest Designer, Tamara Tripodi! She has worked her creative magic with our Love And Marriage and Engaged At Last collections. 

 

Hello, everyone! Tamara here! I was born and raised in southern California.. been here all my life. I am married with three adorable children ages 9, 7, and 5. (And I still have time to craft!.. Late night crafting of course!) When I became a mom my inner crafty awesomeness came out and I have been dabbling in various crafting since then (sewing, felt, beads, making hair pretties, etc.) I started paper crafting in fall 2010 and have been non-stop since! Who knew that a random die cutting machine purchase would lead me to where I am today! I truly enjoy paper crafting and have made so many amazing friends who share my love of paper.

I am so excited to be here today sharing some fun projects with you all! I am not much of a scrapbooker so I’ve made three ‘off the page’ projects and a card. Working with all the lovely Bella Blvd product was a blast! It’s all so beautiful! Thank you so much for having me.

First up is the bachelor card I created. I made this card off a 5x7 card base. I cut out various graphic elements from the Bella Blvd. A little random touch of buttons and I was done. I just love the overall colors in this card, Perfect for a guy!

Next I have a beautiful new bride gift box complete with a custom made shirt! I made this box from an SVG Cuts file. I added a cute scalloped frame window and embellished it with stick on jewels.

The box is tied with a gray satin ribbon and embellished with stickers and chipboard. I kept this simple and pretty.

For the shirt, I cut a decal with my Silhouette and iron on vinyl. I love this stuff! Such a cheap and easy way to customize things. This makes a perfect gift for the new bride to be.. or even for the wedding party. Just switch up the text on the shirt.

Before she becomes a bride though, she gets to party it up with her girlfriends! I die cut a cute purse shaped bag perfect for a little gift for the Bachelorette party! So fun!

The little ruffle was created with Bella Blvd. washi tape. I adhere the washi tape ruffle with hot glue. The purse is embellished with a Bella Blvd. cut out and chipboard.

After the wedding the lovely couple floats away into married bliss. Which inspired this cute hot air balloon décor piece. This 3D hot air balloon was die cut with SVG Cuts files. I added some twine, and Bella Blvd. washi tape and ‘love’ chipboard letters. I kept it simple and kept the focus on the cute Bella Blvd. patterned papers.

I love this collection! I've been so excited about its release. This collection has so many great prints and embellishments. I can't wait to use it on some projects for my little boys :) The photos on this layout make me smile. I love how the photos tell the story and how this collection helped me to document it in a way that will help my kids remember how we celebrated Independence Day. The journaling reads: We love to spend the 4th of July celebrating our freedoms by spending time outside, fishing, picnics, and fireworks.

"Festive For The Fourth”, by Jaclyn Rench.

Upon first laying eyes on the cute new All American collection, I immediately thought of the many festive t-shirts and outfits I have bought for and dressed my children in over the years. I anxiously rifled through years and years of photos (thank goodness for digital files!), to grab all those pictures of my kids showing off their American pride as they sport the red, white and blue. The adorable imagery and color palette of All American was a great compliment to these pictures and memories, and made putting together this page a snap!

“4th of July Sparklers”, by Sheri Feypel.

I love the All American line! It is perfect for all things boy, and since that is all I have I will be using this line quite a bit. For this layout I cut apart the Borders page and layered some of the strips with a few decorative borders tucked in. I added lots of layers of feathers, chipboard, flags and buttons on top of the strips. And no layout is complete without a title, so I mixed up two different colors of Chipboard Alpha's to make the word "Sparklers" stand out. We enjoy waving sparklers around in the back yard after fireworks on 4th Of July despite some of the faces my son makes in photos.

I was so excited to see the new All American collection! We are big fans of the Independence Day holiday and love to celebrate with friends and family! I thought I would make a card that would perfectly for an invitation to one of those celebrations. “Bicentennial Parade”, by Diane Payne.

When I saw the new All American collection I knew I had the perfect paper and embellishments to tell the story of riding my bike in the Bicentennial Parade. I love the colors and mix of patterns ... stars, flowers and hearts! On this layout I used a couple of the pieces from the Borders and Cute Cuts paper for journaling and layering my photo. I added a little stitching, designer tape and chipboard for the finishing touches on my layers. I also added a little sparkle with metallic mist and glitter to complement the theme.

“Red And Blue Meet”, by Katherine McElvain.

Every year my daughter's swim team holds a swim meet where they divide the team into two teams. A red team and a blue team. Tons of fun is had with friendly competition between the two colors. When I saw the new All American collection with all its red and blue, I knew it was perfect for this event. All the stars are great accents for a sporting event. Bella's new All American collection helped bring my 4^th of July layout to life. I love the playful patterns in this collection, they were perfect for these photos that I took of my kids dressed up on the 4^th of July. I started my layout by using both the A side and B side of American Pride paper as the base of my layout. Then I layered on Bella's Navy dot designer tape, and used the Stars & Stripes cardstock sticker as my title. I finished it off with flags, chip icons and star buttons.

As an army wife, I am always looking for the perfect scrapbooking papers and embellishments to record those special moments of my husbands' career. Bella's new All American collection is perfect for honoring and remembering military service members. This photo is very special to me because it was taken during my husband’s two week leave (to come home) during a 1 1/2 year deployment to Afghanistan. Yay for a patriotic line from Bella Blvd! Stars, hearts, flowers, and fireworks … All American has a little bit of everything! Stars are some of my favorite accents to use on a page so I am pumped about all of them in this line. "USA" card, by Gretchen McElveen.

I am loving this new line! It's got the traditional red, white, and blues going on but there are some light blues and grays mixed in also. And they are a great addition to this patriotic line! I mixed a little light blue and gray into this card by using the border stickers on the Alpha+Bits Stickers. I cut the hearts out of the Borders sheet. Very fun! Thanks for looking!

All American Pinwheel, by Shellye McDaniel.

I love that All American can be used the whole Summer with decorations for Memorial Day, 4th of July and Labor Day. We often have a BBQ of sorts throughout the Summer months and I like having different centerpieces on hand to dress up a buffet table. I used a 12x12 sheet of All American patterned paper for this singular pinwheel. For the stick, I wrapped Designer Tape around a wooden dowel and then attached to the back with a high-tack glue. I kept the design pretty simple by layering the center with a die-cuts, stickers and gems!

All American Wall Art, by Shellye McDaniel.

I keep a plain grapevine wreath on hand and to it I attach seasonal hangings for the door off of the carport, and this little sign will be perfect! I took a scalloped chipboard shape and dressed it with All American papers. To the center, I cut and traced a chipboard star and then layered it with chipboard letters and cut-out pieces. Hanging pieces like this can also be added to a wall or hang from the knob of a cupboard!

As soon as I saw this collection I knew I had the perfect photo to scrapbook. A few years ago we took our daughter downtown to watch the 4th of July parade and although it was super hot, she had a great time collecting candy in her bucket. I stuck with the collection for this layout, and added in some of the new crochet hearts which coordinate with it just perfectly!

“Super Hero”, by Leanne Allinson.

My ten year old son is a huge fan of "The Avengers" and when his dad brought home bubble bath, contained in the shape of Captain America, he was thrilled! I have repeated the star symbol in the photo around the layout at key points, to help the eye travel over the page. And even though I have used a lot of patterned paper, I still have the element of "white" space above the title, where the eye can rest. I have adhered the Navy Dot designer tape to white card stock and trimmed a star shape, similar in size to the small Ciao Chip Icon star. The Ciao Chip Icons and Alphabet also help give the layout depth and dimension. The Red Chevron designer tape has been used in the same manner as the Navy Dot, to create the banners.

As soon as we got to Montana for a family wedding last summer Alex found this Captain America hat and HAD to have it. He wore it every constantly and thought it was so cool to be in the US on Canada Day. Though you can't see it in this photo, he is wearing his Canada Day T-shirt with this hat on July 1^st. We were leaving to come home before July 4th so I had to get some pics of him before we left and he was happy to pose in his new favorite hat. This collection was of course perfect and I had so much fun adding all the pieces together to showcase this super cute pic of my boy in red, white and blue.

"Celebrate America" card, by Becky Williams.

For this card I used the fireworks from the Borders & Cute Cuts paper and added some little pearls for details. I used some stickers that coordinate with the collection only I trimmed the extra to use just the parts of the phrases that I wanted to use on my card and will use the other bits on future projects. The background is simply one of the Cute Cuts cards.

"I Love the U.S.A", by Becky Williams.

This is such a beautiful patriotic collection (kudos to Stephanie!) but the patterns are versatile enough that many can be used on everyday pages and great for those of you who have boys! I decided to try to make some cards this month and for this one made a simple background of paper strips and then added one of the Cute Cuts cards and a crocheted heart to take center stage. The embellishments for this line coordinate so beautifully that it makes cardmaking so easy.

"American", by Laura Vegas.

The All American collection was the perfect match to these photos I took on Memorial Day last year. I had quite a few photos that I wanted to include, so I printed them out in a photo collage, allowing me to get 9 photos on my page. I used my Silhouette Cameo to die cut the circle border from the blue star patterned paper. I liked that I can keep a lot of the pattern and color of the blue paper, but still let little bits of white show through, to help balance out the white on the rest of the page.

The colors of the All American collection matched these adorable photos of my little boy. I love a star shape because it’s perfect for boy layouts. This collection includes lots of stars in the patterns papers, chipboards and stickers.

“Graduation”, by Kim Jeffress.

Being an Aussie I wanted to showcase this new collection with an Aussie feel. I felt the colors and patterns were perfect for my eldest's graduation from kindergarten last year. They had to walk a gold star lined red carpet and the Seeing Stars pattern paper was just a perfect match for the photos. Once I had figured out the basic design of my layout I couldn't find a place for me heading, so I ended up placing it over the top of the two smaller photos and I love the outcome!

4th of July Banner, by Jennifer Edwardson.

I was SO excited when I got this collection to work with, and I'm Canadian. My family spends a lot of time in the US and I couldn't wait to create some fun projects for a friend across the border to help her family decorate for this special holiday. I've never made a banner before but loved making this one. I chose a couple of my favorite patterned papers to create the flags for the main part of the banner. I added another pattern to the center and adhered it using 2 different Designer Tapes and then went about adding pieces to embellish around the chipboard alpha words. I chose to add a white doily under the words and love what it added to each piece. I created a few florettes using one of the new Freestyle Sophisticates and had fun adding to each of them with stickers, flags and buttons too. Can't wait to get this in the mail ….. It's coming to you Allyson!

Flag Frame & Popcorn Bucket, by Jennifer Edwardson.

I wanted a couple more pieces to put on the mantle with the banner and I love all kinds of frames so I made this one into an American flag. I made sure I had the proper number of red strips and then added a couple of white stars to the blue section. Super simple, but I love what it stands for and think it's a perfect addition to any 4th of July décor.

I use these little clear buckets for so many occasions and thought this would be a fun party favor for a 4th of July celebration. I used a sticker border and some Cute Cuts to decorate the bucket and then added paper and stickers to the lid too. A few pieces of designer tape and it was ready to fill with popcorn and red, white and blue jellybeans.
