We are back with another Bella Blvd & Unity Stamps Inspiration Day! I asked a few of our Card Designers to use whatever stamps they were feeling inspired by, and to come up with some clever ways to use them. Let's see what they came up with!

“Thanks for the Lift” card, by Alice Carman.

I could not help, but stamp these adorable images multiple times so I wanted to make a card where I could do that. Did you notice that I removed something from the original image?  I took the gift box away so I could use it for a different theme. It’s super cute the original way too, but I thought I try something different.

Who doesn’t love cake??? I love the clean smooth image you get using these stamps. I also cut out the image of this stamp as well so I could use it up against another Bella Blvd stamp.

This birthday toad is darling! I added some google eyes to make him more animated. He almost looks as though he’s about to jump off the card. Lol.

"Baby" card, by Gretchen McElveen.

I think the "It's a Boy" stamp is so cute! I stamped it onto a piece of patterned paper and then cut it out to use as an embellishment for this card. Then I added all kinds of stickers and bling to decorate the rest of the card. Thank you for looking!

"Toadilly Cool" card, by Gretchen McElveen.

I used "Birthday Toad" stamps to create part of the sentiment on this card. These stamps are "toadilly" fun! Ha! And of course I had to cut out the frog from the Cute Cuts sheet to compliment the sentiment!

"Welcome home" card, by Gretchen McElveen.

I used the "Welcome home" stamp to create a flag to coordinate with "Fall" and "Thankful" flags I used on this card. I stamped "Welcome home" on a piece of patterned paper, cut it out, wrapped it around a pin similar to the ones on the Bella Blvd flags (I found these in the craft section of Wal-mart!), and then cut a dovetail in the end for a little contrast. “Happy Thanksgiving” card, by Gail Hoecker.

I love fall. The crisp air is so refreshing, and the colors. Don’t get me started! This was a fun card to make. First off, the Bella stamps made by Unity are the best! They stamp so clear, right out of the package, no messing around trying to make them stamp a good clear impression. Next, I stamped the turkey on a variety of papers, cut the feathers out and popped some of them up. But don’t think about this little guy for your Thanksgiving dinner, he is way too cute to eat!

Layouts On Wednesday - Instagram Photo Challenge

We thought we would add a fun challenge to today's free-for-all layouts. So many of us are capturing more and more moments using cell phones and Instagram these days. And I know I'm seeing more and more layouts using these photos, in place of or in addition to photos taken with our regular cameras. We asked a handful of our layout designers to use Instagram photos on their layouts. Let's check out their take on the challenge!

"Front Yard Bonfire", by Megan Klauer.

I love the option of Instagram. It's a quick & easy way to capture and share those everyday moments. I typically print my own by either resizing them onto a full 8.5x11 sheet in Photoshop and printing them on my home computer, or by printing 2 Instagram photos on one 4x6 size photo at the print shop. However you do it, be sure and get them printed. Simple everyday moments like I have shown here are those important memories you'll want to remember forever.

This couldn’t be a more perfect challenge for this page: Instagram pictures. I am an Instagram addict! This is my last page for Bella Blvd and I would say a big thank you to everyone, to all my followers and readers that support me everyday! Thank you from the deep of my heart to Stephanie and Laura, that are awesome girls! Bella was an amazing family and I wish all the best to the new DT. Let's talk about the page. My thought is "to use in different ways the materials you have". For example I have used the Birthday Girl Cute Cuts in a different way from the common, I cut in different stripe the phrase and make a sort of the frame up and down the photo. Be happy when you create, have fun and don't forget to use your imagination!

“Slouchy Beanie Girl”, by Kimberly Neddo.

I love using photographs from daily life that I process through Instagram. I love working with square photographs more than I ever realized. It makes for a fun and different work flow. You can change the sizes easily in your Photo program too. Have fun trying out different sizes on a single layout. Creating movement with Bella Blvd paper is so much fun and easy to do. I Love the designs in all the papers! They work well to cut out, and use a pop dot for dimension in unique ways. The color pallet in the new lines for birthday girl and birthday boy, are all so perfect too! My daughter really loves this teal blue, so I had fun playing around with complimenting the photographs of her in her favorite new beanie I made for her with these products.

There are so many patterns in the Birthday Boy line that can be used for any subject you want to scrapbook. I chose some of the Chevron and Dotted pages to highlight my Instagram photos. I tried to keep it simple and clean by just sticking to two patterns, and then I went to town with some of the Designer Tapes. They really are a lot of fun to play with and create backgrounds for journaling or even pictures. I have become that girl that takes photo's of food and posts them on Instagram. Don't judge:) I'm not the only one!

Introducing The Bella Blvd 2012-2013 Design Team

It's finally time to share our exciting news with you! After pouring through all of the submissions for our Design Team call, we have put together a team of talented and diverse designers that we know will bring amazing projects to the blog and to you! Please give a warm welcome to our newest Design Team members!

We want to thank each and every one of you that sent in your submissions to our Design Team call. Once again, we were truely amazed at the wonderful response we got, and loved seeing so many talented designers that wanted to be a part of what we do around here.

Our new Design Team members are so excited to get started and we can't wait to share their talented designs with you. We will be introducing everyone to you, and showing you some of their work, starting on Monday, October 1st!

Altered Project Shares

It's been a while since we last shared some altered projects around here. Today we have two cute altered birthday frames, and a fun mini album and tag set for those of you that are into canning!

Birthday Boy Large Altered Frame, by Jennifer Edwardson.

This frame was sooooooo fun to put together. Like all of us crafty girls I stop in scrapbook shops whenever I am travelling. I found this great frame in a shop in Montana and had to have it.  

It was a plain kraft color with a great layout for the photo. I could rotate the frame to have the photo in any of the 4 corners, so I chose the top left corner so that I had room to put all the fabulous birthday embellishments off to the right.

I measured the space to cut the window for the photo from my orange chevron pattern and sanded all the edges, even inside the cut out space (I lightly sanded the picture too) and adhered it with a strong quick dry glue to the front of the frame.

After choosing a pattern for my photo mat I adhered my birthday boy’s picture using 3D foam for a bit of dimension. It is nice and easy to remove for next year and add a new birthday photo.

Then I set to work to create the rest of the 'layout'. I added a border sticker, patterned strips; one raised with 3D foam, one folded like ribbon and one cut like a flag. I used several pieces from the cute cuts. I LOVE that hippo and the music notes too. I mixed in some chip shapes (how 'bout the hippo's hat), a button on the hippo's tie and a flag for him to hold. Love it!

Birthday Boy Small Altered Frame, by Jennifer Edwardson.

I know I've said it before, but I LOVE frames. Big frames, little frames, colored frames and even frames that need some love. This little frame called my name from a sale bin as it was crème and scratched and had a silly phrase on it. I knew I could make it cute again, so I got some paint and the Birthday Boy collection and got to work.

First I painted the edges with a blue to match the paper and then sanded off the edges to distress it a bit. I cut the window from my patterned paper and sanded the edges of that as well.

I was so happy to see the journal card 'you are my favorite' as I have said this to my children since they were babies. Always, 'you are my favorite boy' and 'you are my favorite girl'. This was perfect for this frame so I added a little handwritten note to it for Alex to remember as he grows up. After that, a little bit of designer tape, some chipboard and buttons to complete this 'up-cycled' frame!

“It's Canning Time” mini-album and tags, by Marie-Josée Hamel.

Hello all! Today, I am featuring a mini-album that I created for all my canning recipes and instructions, as well as tags for my jars. I fell in love with canning this year and have already canned 6 different things, and I don't intend to stop there! :) So obviously, I needed a recipe book!

Let's start with the mini-album, which measures 6 1/2" x 7 1/2". I used chipboard that I covered with patterned paper for the cover and back of the album, and white cardstock for the inside.

I then used my Cinch binding tool to punch holes and add the binding to my album.

Then, using Microsoft Word, I copied all my instructions and recipes in a 6" x 6" template, and I also created titles for each section of my book. 

Then, I printed all this information using my home printer and put it in my album. I decorated the first page of each section with pattered papers, chipboards and/or stickers.

The tags were pretty easy to do. I used some dies and my Cuttlebug with Bella Blvd patterned papers and was able to create a few tags in no time. If you don't have a tag die, you can hand-cut your tags. Just cut rectangles, use a round corner punch to round the corner, and punch a hole in it. There you go, you have a tag!

Fabric Camera Strap, by Beth Gerlach.

I used the Sunny Happy Skies fabric to create this fun fabric camera strap. I tore 1 1/4" strips into 5" lengths. The base fabric is 22" x 4 1/2" . I hemmed the short edges of the base fabric. I ruffled and pinned the torn strips diagonally onto the base. Once all the strips were pinned, I sewed them down. Then, with right sides together, I sewed the base fabric lengthwise. I flipped it rightside out and threaded the camera strap through, making sure the seem was on the underside.

Fun Pen Holder, by Kathy Frye.

This ‘pen’ holder is Pretty in PINK!  It features the Sunny Happy Skies fabric from Bella Blvd. Simply sweet! But wait, you’ll find a Playful PUPPY Park version at the end of this tutorial too! This is a great fun project to make as the days are getting cooler and summer is winding down. It’s a perfect ‘back to school’ treat! This handy little pen holder adapts to holding any type of items: craft – sewing – painting – etc. I keep mine next to my sewing machine, with a seam ripper, scissors, markers, tweezers and pens. So grab a mug and start creating some fun!

Supply List:
1/3 yd Fabric A pink lace (pockets and lining) 
1/3 yd or fat qtr Fabric B pink dots (behind pockets) 
1/3 yd Fusible Fleece
Bias Tape – Extra Wide Double Fold
Velcro – 1.5”
Mug (good size is 4” high and 3.25” across) the only part that will show is around the handle

Using the downloadable pattern (found HERE and HERE), cut out 1 piece from each of the following: Fabric A, Fabric B and fusible fleece.

From Fabric A, cut 1 piece 7” x 17”, fold wrong sides together lengthwise, press and mark the center (at 8.5” from edge) of your piece that is now 3.5” x 17”. Fabric B, mark the fold line and the bottom center.

Place the fusible fleece on the back side of Fabric A, press from the top side of Fabric A. Then place Fabric B right side showing on top of the fusible fleece, press. Sew the bias tape onto the straight edge.

Fold the edge with the bias tape on the fold line, so the Fabric A shows on the Fabric B side, press. Place the folded pocket piece on the Fabric B side, matching the center marks.

Mark a line at the center, using soap sliver, chalk, or disappearing pen. Then mark 3 lines on each side of center, 2” apart. Option – make fewer or more lines, depending on how tight or loose you want your pocket slots to be.

Line up the pocket edges with the main body side edges and pin. Pin the pocket to the main body fabric, in between each of the marked lines.

Sew on the marked lines and reinforce each line at the folded edge.

Press or pleat the pocket slits down.

Mark 3 lines on the small (inside) pocket flap – 1 in the center, and 1 on each side.

Sew on the 3 marked lines and reinforce at the bias tape edge.

Working from the back side, baste the pocket side and bottom edges down, follow the curve.

Trim the pocket edges even with the main body curve.

Sew the bias tape around the unfinished sides/bottom, leave a ½ tail at the start and end. Work from the back side, open the bias tape up, and sew with a 1/4" seam.

Bring bias tape around to the front side.

Sew the bias tape along the folded edge on the front side.

Sew the Velcro (1.5”) to the sides. Make sure that one piece is facing up – behind the bias tape and that the other piece is facing down on the opposite side (behind the bias tape), so that they will stick. Reinforce. Ttry the pocket liner on your mug or cup before to see where you want to place the Velcro.

Fridays With Stephanie

Hello all! It's been quite a while since I've made a Friday appearance around here. I know I'm way overdue. Things are going well around the Bella studio as we head into fall.

But today I'm actually posting from Minnesota. My girls and I are here teaching workshops for Archiver's infamous scrappiest event. We had a delightful 5-hour road trip yesterday and arrived safely with hundreds of pounds of materials and class kits!

Speaking of class kits---here's a sneak at my workshops this weekend.

In other news Bella has a brand new mini collection that we'll be announcing in just a few weeks. But I must say it's MY favorite!!!!! And I cannot wait to reveal it! Honestly might be my favorite ever!!! Just sayin'!

Cards On Thursdays

It's Thursday, which means it's time for more free-for-all cards from our Card Designers. We have a fun mix of cards featuring the Birthday Boy and Birthday Girl collections, the Thankful collection, and the Too Cute To Spook collection.

“Love” card, by Kathy Martin.

Every once in a while a girl’s got to play with pretty tape, right? That’s how I was feeling when I started this card. I didn’t have a plan, just thought I’d create something with Bella Blvd’s Designer tape and see where it went. I outlined some Ciao Chip alphabets to make a pattern for the sentiment and then accented the card with more Ciao Chip, a tiny heart sticker and a flag.

Some of my favorite cards to make are those that show how to use up your scraps, how to use themed collections for something different and how to mix a match different lines. This card does all three. What do you think of the stitched sun rays? I like how they overlap and some clouds and go behind others.

I’ve been drawn to diagonal patterned paper stripes lately and I really like the way they look zigzag stitched together. The brand new Thankful collection includes some of the most adorable houses that I thought would be perfect for a new home card.

With Halloween coming up before we know it, I thought it would be fun to create this “Trick Or Treat” card. I was also in the mood to play with some yummy Designer Tape and create a stitched pattern with it. I love how the new Birthday Boy Orange Stripe Designer tape coupled with the black striped Jailbird tape is perfect for Halloween projects.

“You are boo-tiful” card, by Alice Carman.

I love Bella Blvd stamps and how versatile the stamps are. I wanted something fun in the background so I used the tree stamp from the Too Cute To Spook Kit. I stamped the tree on white cardstock and turned it side ways to give the appearance of lightning bolts. Super fun!

"Have An Amazing Birthday" card, by Gail Hoecker.

For my two cards I used the Birthday Boy and Birthday Girl collections. I love these two collections, which are perfect to use for any age, and the colors are perfect! I put a little glossy accents on the heart inside the flower. And, all I can say about the little boy card is “how cute are those frogs?”

Layouts On Wednesdays

It's time for another free-for-all layout share day! We have lots of layouts featuring the new Thankful collection, along with a back-to-school layout mixed in for good measure.

"First Day Of School", by Brook Stewart.

This one was just a quick and easy layout about my boy's first day of 2nd grade. I used the B sides of the Birthday Boy collection. I just love the bright bold colors--they are so useful for so many layout subjects!

“Wilderness Girl”, by Kimberly Neddo.

I can always count on finding Olivia playing outside pretty much every single day! She is outside until the sun goes down. She loves exploring, building and paying with our dogs. The new Thankful collection is just perfect for outdoor photographs, so I went to town with it all!

"Changes", by Kim Arnold.

I love the beautiful floral paper and the “Love Life” quote from the Thankful range and that was my starting point for this layout. The quote really spoke to me personally, as I felt it was the perfect reflection of the journey I have had over the last couple of years. I wanted to give the layout a feminine feel, so I incorporated papers from other ranges in the pretty colours that appeared in the flowers on the background paper. I finished the layout with a gorgeous Pink and Red Blooms a Bella.

"The Patch", by Becky Williams.

The border stickers on the Alpha+Bits sticker sheets in each collection are great accent for pages and cards. Here I used a couple of them to frame the photo strip at the bottom of my page.

“Universally Acknowledged”, by Sue Mylde.

Have you got some travel photos hanging around after a busy summer vacation? This one is from our vacation in Bath, England, the home of Jane Austen. I love this photo on the green and Bath in general. Using a line from my favorite Austen novel Pride and Prejudice, I've created a fun layout about a truth in our family - that we love travelling. The rustic yet chic colors from the Thankful collection lends itself to a classic and fun layout! Will it inspire you to scrap your vacation photos? Hope so! Enjoy!

On-Going Guest Designers: Stacey Michaud, Sarah Klemish, and Kryssi Ng

Last year, when we were choosing our new Design Team, we had a group of talented designers that we just couldn't pass up. So we added a special team of On-going Guest Designers that have been joining us here on the blog throughout the past, along with the rest of our Design Team. We have loved having them here, sharing their gorgeous layout and card designs with everyone. Today, we are featuring three of those designers for their last round of projects. Let's check out what Stacey Michaud, Sarah Klemish, and Kryssi Ng have created for us this month.

Hi all! My name is Stacey Michaud. I am a teacher during the day and an avid scrapbooker by night! I use the creative process to keep my sanity and record my stories. Paper serves as my muse and I love gaining inspiration from the products around me. I like to call my style clean and linear with a twist. Journaling is a must for me. I have been blessed enough to be published in Scrapbook Trends, Creating Keepsakes and Memory Makers magazine as well as several idea books!

“Count Your Blessings”, by Stacey Michaud.

I loved the Count Your Blessings sentiment on the Chip Essentials pieces and thought it fit my photos perfectly. It triggered the idea of putting a variety of numbers along the side of the layout. I simply mixed alphabets and placed them randomly. I think it gives the simple layout a bold touch. I also tucked the Tall Tag saying under my photos to add more typography and sentiment to the layout.

“The Next Generation”, by Stacey Michaud.

The photo on this layout is so meaningful to me. It was taken at a reunion my family had with all of my husband's college friends. Since it took place in the summer, I wanted the layout to be bright and happy. It also gave me the idea to create the sunrays. I created the rays by combing patterned paper, flag banners, and sentiment stickers. The papers on this layout came from many different collections. I simply looked for common colors and pulled it all together with a stripe.

In the scrapbook world I am known as “Sarahak”, in the real world I am Sarah Klemish (wife, mother, daughter, sister). I still remember the first Creative Memories class I took 10 years ago – cardstock and pictures cut in funky shapes! I still treasure those layouts but since then my style has changed. I am typically what is known as a “simple” scrapper. Straight lines, white space and sewing, that sums it up. I am currently designing for Creative Memories (talk about coming full circle)! I have been published in Scrapbook Trends and was on the Better Homes and Gardens Scrapbook Etc. team for a year. Love the hobby, love the people and love being asked to participate on fun projects! Thanks Bella Blvd! 

"Max at 14", by Sarah Klemish.

I started with a white cardstock background and a large photo. After layering some pattern paper across the bottom I added strips of pattern paper and vellum under the edges of my picture. I cut the title out using my Cameo, and added a few banner embellishments on the top left side of the photo. I printed my journaling on vellum and sewed it down. I added some confetti and a doily for fun!

“This Smile”, by Sarah Klemish.

I started with a white cardstock background that I splattered with black ink. I used my Cameo to cut out the circle accent and the title conversation bubble. I added several pattern paper circles in my circle accent. I added pattern paper behind the "smile" in the conversation bubble. After added two pictures I placed a scallop border sticker on the top and bottom of the layout. I used tape on the large picture. Super fast and easy!

I'm Kryssi Ng, and I live in NYC with my husband and two little girls. I started doodling and drawing at a young age and pursued an education in fine arts. That lifelong passion eventually led me into the world of paper crafting and graphic designing. Most of my waking hours are dedicated to tending to my family but on the small window of free time on some days -- you can find me in my room making cards (and sometimes scrapbooking a layout) or tinkering around with Photoshop/Illustrator. Anything but cleaning!

“So Blessed”, by Kryssi Ng.

I had this stack on old pumpkin picking pictures sitting there for the longest! I love how versatile all the Bella Blvd collections are. The tones all seem to fit together from one line to another. I pieced together yellows, oranges, and greens from the assorted collections and it was easy peasy! A little stamping for added details completed the layout.

“First Xmas”, by Kryssi Ng.

We get a lot of photo cards during the holidays. In an effort to cherish them, I've decided to scrap them! Like this here of my godson! I didn't want it to get lost in a pile of random photos and cards. I love that the lines I used were not too girly or kiddie for this super cute boy!
