It looks like our card designers had "birthday" on the creative brain for this week's free-for-all cards. It was just a happy coincidence that all of the cards they turned in were birthday themed. Which I love, since birthday cards are the one type of card that I need the most, and never seem to have. If you're the same, here's lots of birthday inspiration for you!
"Amazing Birthday" card, by Gretchen McElveen.
One thing that I like to do when I get stuck in a rut or just need something to jump start my creativity is look through some things I have made recently and flip them! :) By that I mean I take the original design and either turn it on its side or turn it upside down to create a different look. I did this to help me create this birthday card! The birthday card on this post is one of my favorites I have made recently. So I turned it on its side and used that basic design to create a new card! Now the design is more horizontal than vertical like on the original card.
Supplies:
Birthday Boy: Just a Note, Borders, Alpha+Bits Stickers, Just Write Journaling Stickers, Flags 1; Birthday Girl: Miles of Smiles; Button Market: Orange Stars
"Birthday Memories" card, by Gretchen McElveen.
Is anybody else guilty of not remembering birthdays until the day is here and by then it is too late to put a card in the mail??! Or is it just me?? :) Well I am in need of a "belated" birthday card right now! So I used the new Birthday girl line to whip one up. Thanks for looking!
Supplies:
Birthday Girl: Sugar Rush, Borders, Alpha+Bits Stickers, Just Write Journaling Stickers; Birthday Boy: Cute Cuts; High Five Alpha Stickers: Green
"Happy Birthday Dear Friend" card, by Gretchen McElveen.
I pulled out a 1" circle punch to punch some Birthday Girl scraps I had left over from another project. Then I used the circles to create scalloped borders along the right and left sides of this card. The middle of the card is actually a sticker from the Birthday Girl Just Write Journaling Stickers. And then I used the blue High Five Alphabet to add "friend" to the sticker. Thanks for looking!
Supplies:
Birthday Girl: Borders, Sugar Rush, Celebrate, Party Dress, Just Write Journaling Stickers; High Five Alpha Stickers: Green
"Happy Birthday to You" card, by Gretchen McElveen.
I cannot get enough of the cute hippo on the Birthday Girl Cute Cuts sheet! I actually used the other side of the Cute Cuts sheet on another project and, unknowingly, cut the poor hippo in half. :( But I could not let it go unused! So I used what was left of the hippo to make it look like it is peeking out of the card to send some birthday greetings! FYI: the green patterned paper here is actually from the Birthday Boy line. It coordinates perfectly with the little bits of green in the Birthday Girl line.
Supplies:
Birthday Girl: Dancing Queen, Cute Cuts, Borders, Flags 2; Birthday Boy: Eat Cake; Sophisticates: Miniatures Card Sentiments; Button Market: Pink Flowers
“Make A Wish” card, by Kathy Martin.
For my birthday cards I thought it would be fun to show how well the Bella Blvd. collections work together by making two cards with the new Birthday Girl collection only and then another card with three different lines. Can you tell which cards are which? I love that when I have just a little bit left from one collection, it mixes really well with others.

Just a quick simple card today using several different Bella Blvd papers so I could create a birthday card. Love how you can mix the collections with one another and still have a great outcome.
