Cards On Thursdays

Welcome back to our Cards On Thursdays feature, where our designers have free reign to create any type of cards they like. There are a LOT of cards to share today, so let's get right to it!

"You are awesome" card, by Gretchen McElveen.

I used the Birthday Boy line to make this non-birthday-themed card! It is also a great line to use for a fun congratulatory card! I threw in a few stickers from the Sophisticates Miniatures stickers to complete the sentiment. Thanks for looking!

"On your Birthday" card, by Gretchen McElveen.

You can never have enough extra birthday cards on hand! (for example, I totally forgot about our receptionist's birthday this past week. I was soooo glad I had an extra birthday card already made!). Of course I used the cute Birthday Girl line to make this card. I cut up the "On your birthday it's all about you" sticker from the Alpha+Bits sheet to use for the sentiment on the outside of the card, but also to finish the sentiment on the inside of the card. "Thank you" card, by Gretchen McElveen.

Like birthday cards, extra thank you cards are another thing I like to keep on hand. The Thankful line is perfect for some good thank you cards! On this card I used the Thankful line to get me started, but then I also used the orange stripe tape and the photo corner stickers from the Birthday Boy line to finish off the card. How fun is it that all these products work so well together! Thanks for looking!

“Happy Thanksgiving” card, by Kathy Martin.

Let’s talk turkey, shall we? Is this the cutest turkey you’ve ever seen? I want his plumage! Look at those gorgeous feathers … so colorful and perky! I had to make a card with Mr. Tom as a focal point and here he is in all his glory!

“Happy Birthday” card, by Kathy Martin.

I love all the Bella Blvd embellishments! The Designer Tape and buttons have become favorites of mine so I combined a few with some Birthday Girl Alpha+Bits stickers and pretty purple patterned paper to create this whimsical birthday card.

"Amazing Birthday” card, by Sheri Feypel.

Birthday Boy is such a fun line to play with! I love that it is kiddish but also can be used for the "grown up's." I created this card with that in mind and went for a more "grown up" design. I added a few flags, made from tid bits left over from other projects (no wasting cute paper over here!). I also cut up a little piece of paper into tiny pieces to create a confetti look. I put random spots of glue on the card and sprinkle the pieces over it.

Every now and then I like to stick with a simple design for my projects. Sometimes less is more, so they say. I stick with a few longer flags and layered a sticker on top of a die cut star. I also used one of the little banner stickers to make yet another flag.

The circle design on the celebrate paper is one of my favorite designs. It is perfect for any occasion. You can usually find me cutting out shapes and patterns from the paper and popping them up.

I just so happened to be going to a first birthday party for my little Owen. I decided to make him a first birthday card using the new Birthday Boy line. I also used a Cuttlebug embossing plate.

Layouts On Wednesdays

It's been over a month since we had our last Layouts on Wednesdays feature. I love giving the designers a chance to do some free-for-all layouts each month, since it gives them free reign to scrap anything their heart desires. Let's check out what they have for us this week!

"Where Did the Year Go?", by Becky Williams.

Time passes by so quickly that I have wanted to document the little milestones in my kids' lives and it's hard to believe but our baby girl is already one year old. And, as I type this, it's been a few months since these pictures were taken. For this layout, I used flowers from the Cute Cuts sheet (so cute!) and lots and lots of the Designer Tape. Here I have showed two ways to draw attention to your title: strips of Designer Tape and a mix of different-colored alpha stickers. Don't be afraid to mix things up!

"Family Turkey Hunt", by Megan Klauer.

When I saw the adorable turkeys in the Thankful collection I knew exactly which photos & memory I would record. This spring was the first year my hubby & I had the chance to turkey hunt all together with our boys. We saw so much wildlife on that beautiful morning. What a great memory!

"New York", by Katherine McElvain.

Sometimes quick and easy layouts are necessary and this time the Bella Blvd Designer Tape helped me accomplish a quick layout with a fun twist. I saw the idea of making a city skyline on a card on Pinterest. It looked so cute! So I decided to scrap this picture of my son and I when he won a trip to New York. I added some of the Ciao Chip Clouds and a little tree to make the tape look more like a cityscape. And with all the choices on the High Five Alphabets it was easy to find the perfect sticker letters to use for the title. Add some pen lines and call it finished.

"Picking Rasperdies With Poppy", by Melissa Stinson.

With all the new collections from Bella starting to hit store shelves, I thought this would be a great time to make a layout showing how many Bella collections, both old and new, work well together. This page is a combination of three newer lines- Sunshine+Happiness, Baby Girl, and Spring Flings & Easter Things- along with Sunny Happy Skies, which is quite a bit older. Since Bella uses many similar colors across all the collections, older papers that you may have in your stash can be "freshened up" and used along with all the new ones, too!

CHA Summer Releases Shipping Now

I heard some fabulous news from the Bella office yesterday. All of the new CHA Summer products have arrived, and are starting to be packed up and shipped out to your favorite local scrapbook stores and online retailers!!! It won't be long before you can get a hold of our new collections and products! Keep your eyes out for them ;)

"Birthday Party Time", by Laura Vegas.

There are so many great patterned papers in this collection, and I wanted to use so many of them. So I pulled out a banner punch  and punched out lots and lots of little banner pieces. I adhered them all across the very top of the page, and machine stitched along the tops to secure them. I also used lots of the chipboard pieces on this layout. I combined the "Party" letters and the "Birthday" banner piece from the Ciao Chip Icons, and some of the new Blueberry Sienna chipboard alphas, to create my title. I added in the chipboard asterisk sign from the Ciao Chip Icons, and added one of the new orange star buttons to the center. And lastly, I used the cake from the Ciao Chip Icons as well, adhering it with pop dots and adding one of the new flags.

“Birthday Love”, by Sarah Klemish.

I had fun mixing the Birthday Girl bright flower paper with the pretty purple graph paper. After adding a piece of 8x8 cardstock to the center of the layout I used the Designer Tape around the border (and sewed it down). A couple of scallop borders, the pictures added (with Designer Tape to hold them down) and my simple title complete the layout. Super-fast and easy (and girly)!

“Double Digits”, by Sarah Klemish.

I started with a white cardstock background. I cut several size circles out of the Birthday Boy patterned papers and placed them randomly at the top of my page. I also added strips of patterned paper at the top and bottom of the layout. After embellishing in some of the circles I used a small hole punch to create confetti that I sprinkled across the top of the page. Lastly I added two pictures (my son on his 10th birthday), title, photo corner and journaling strips.

“Eat Cake”, by Katherine McElvain.

The new Bella Blvd Birthday Girl collection is so colorful! As I was exploring the papers I noticed that many of the patterns have white backgrounds. Because of the colorful cake photo that I took at my daughter’s birthday, I wanted to use the white background patterns to create a white tonal layout that would make the photo of the cake pop! I also added some dimensional pops of color using the Birthday Girl Chipboard Icons. I wanted to keep the look clean and simple, so I color blocked four squares in the middle, and stitched four patterns around the edge to add a subtle frame to finish it off.

I used the orange and yellow patterned papers from the Birthday Boy line along with border stickers from the Alpha+Bits sheet to make the background for this birthday card. Then i added stickers, flags, and buttons toward the bottom of the card to embellish it festively! Thanks for looking!

"Friends Forever" card, by Gretchen McElveen.

How cute are these flowery buttons?! I used one button as the "cherry" on top of the cupcake. Then I used 2 more to accent toward the bottom right and left sides of the card. I don't always feel the need to add thread/string through the holes every time I use buttons but I did on this card. And I thought tying the string into a bow through the top button would be a cute touch!

"It's Your Birthday" card, by Laura Vegas.

I wanted to have a bit of a confetti look to my card, so I used a small circle punch along with a regular hole punch, and punched out a ton of circles from the polka dot patterned paper. Punching out the polka dots is a great way to get solid colors that will perfectly match your other pieces from the collection. There is also a sticker on just about every Just Write Journaling sticker sheet, that goes with each collection, that is the perfect width for the front of a card. I used a scalloped edged border punch along some patterned paper, to frame the sticker. Such an easy card.

More CHA Projects

Happy Monday everyone! After a fun month consisting of our Patriotic Week feature, our CHA Reveal Week, our two Endless Inspiration Week features, and our Birthday Week feature, we are just about ready to get back to our regular blogging schedule. More inspiration days, sketches, guest designers, layout days, card days, and even some tutorials. They are all coming up, starting on Wednesday.

But before we get back to those regular features, we wanted to share some more of our CHA booth projects. These aren't the last of them, as you will still be seeing more in the weeks to come, scattered in with our monthly projects. 

“Our Home”, by Megan Klauer.

When I first saw the new Thankful line I knew exactly which photo I was going to use for it. I once again printed the photo as a 12x8 and the sun flare in the upper left corner served as the perfect place for my title. I cut the clouds in half from both the Cute Cuts sheet as well as the Chipboard Icons to extend them a bit further.

"Brothers", by Laura Vegas.

The brown circle patterned paper from the Birthday Boy collection paired up so nicely with the other papers I choose from the Thankful collection, to scrap these photos I took of my friend's boys. I also went through my collection of flags, and pulled out flags from several different sets that would coordinate with this boy layout. To add a bit of interest to my striped strip of patterned paper, I punched out some half circles from an additional strip of paper. I adhered them to punched circles of thin chipboard, sanded down the edges, and then adhered them to the strip on my layout, matching up the stripes.

"Fall Fun At The Park", by Sheri Feypel.

I started this layout with no idea in mind other than a tree with buttons. I sketched out the tree and handstitched it. I added several buttons as "leaves." I think it turned out pretty good if I do say so myself :) I then decided the placement of my picture and created a base for it with Designer Tape. It is a subtle effect that is cute, doesn't take away from the tree, and helps my photo to stand out on the page.

"Love Fall Time" card, by Laura Vegas.

I really love this leaf patterned paper, but I often have a hard time using prints like this without it overwhelming the other elements on my projects. I decided to use it as the background piece on this card, and I love the fun frame of color that it adds around the card. I also cut a few tiny strips of the brown Burlap patterned paper, and arranged them on the edges of my white cardstock piece, to create another frame. This is a great way to use up your paper scraps!

I love these tapes! I used the Pickle Juice Dot tape here to create a frame around the sentiment that I cut out of the Cute Cuts sheet from the new Thankful line. I even added some tape to the inside of the card to spice it up a little!

“Thanksgiving” card, by Kathy Martin.

When you have such pretty little buttons, why not show them off? I created this card with round ‘windows’ to display these Button Market styles. Not only do these buttons match the Thankful line perfectly, but I was also able to use them with the new Birthday Boy collection. You have to love versatility and being able to spread your craft supply dollars!

Bella's 4th Birthday Celebration Week: Birthday Boy Mini Album

Welcome back to our last day of our Birthday Celebration Week, in honor of Bella's 4th birthday, happening this week. We've shared birthday cards and layouts, and even everyday layouts, all using the new Birthday Boy and Birthday Girl collections. Today is all about birthday mini albums. We have two posts happening today. This morning we focused on our Birthday Girl collection, and right now, we will focus on our Birthday Boy collection!

Birthday Boy Mini Album, by Brook Stewart.

I take tons of photos when it comes to events … especially birthdays! The new Birthday Boy collection was perfect for making this mini album to remember all the details of my little guy’s first birthday. I love the idea of the Project Life type of format and as I was digging around, I found these ATC protectors I’ve had for years. Those along with all the fun coordinating papers and embellishments from the Birthday Boy line made putting this album together a breeze!

Bella's 4th Birthday Celebration Week: Birthday Girl Mini Album

Welcome back to our last day of our Birthday Celebration Week, in honor of Bella's 4th birthday, happening this week. We've shared birthday cards and layouts, and even everyday layouts, all using the new Birthday Boy and Birthday Girl collections. Today is all about birthday mini albums. For my mini album I used standard card sized envelopes for my base. It's a great way to create an album at a low cost and you already have pockets if you choose to incorporate them into your book! I used a ton of the Birthday Girl embellishments and papers: the perfect collection for the cake smash photos I took of my cousin's little cutie. I used the Designer tapes on the edges and made sure to let my embellishment pieces hang off the sides. Love when a mini book looks full to the brim!

Bella's 4th Birthday Celebration Week: Everyday Layouts

Welcome back to day three of our Birthday Celebration Week, in honor of Bella's 4th birthday, happening this week. So far, we have shared birthday cards and birthday layouts. However, the new Birthday Boy and Birthday Girl collections aren't just for birthday themed projects. So today we are sharing everyday layouts, that show just how versital these two collections are!

"Happy Feet", by Katherine McElvain.

So first of all, let me say, I love this photo of my daughter and her friend (or should I say this photo of their little feet) and therefore had to use it for a layout. And let me also say, I must like taking photos of feet. Not too long ago I put together another Bella layout using the Making the Team collection (seen HERE), that also featured a photo of feet. A little bit of self discovery while scrapbooking I guess. But enough about feet, let’s talk about the new and wonderful Birthday Boy and Birthday Girl collections by Bella Blvd. The thing I like most about these two collections is how easily they can be intermingled and used for so many different occasions. 

On this layout I used a mix of pattern paper, stickers, and chipboard from both the Boy and Girl collections. So I had to think, should I use the yellow “birthday memories” tag from the Girl collection, or the turquoise one from Birthday Boy...turquoise won out this time. Should I use the green grid paper form the Boy collection or the green dot paper form the Birthday Girl...decided I needed both. Making those choices tends to slow down the creative process, but it is so much fun to play! I highly suggest that you grab all the goodies from both collections and have some fun yourself!

"Smile", by Megan Klauer.

I used the Birthday Boy Collection on my page to show that it can be used for occasions beyond the typical Birthday theme. I trimmed the star from the birthday candle on the Chipboards Icons sheet & combined it with a few punched stars as well as the large orange star from the Ciao Chip Elements Stars & Hearts sheet.

"So Very Happy", by Becky Williams.

One of my favorite part about Bella Blvd themed collections is that while there are lots of cute birthday papers, there are also other patterned papers in the collection that work for everyday pages. Here I used some for a summer page about my oldest daughter, using a card from the Cute Cuts page to go with my page title. I added a mix of Designer Tapes (which I love and hope that Stephanie keeps adding more to the product line-up) and a mix of alphas to help my title stand out.

“Fun in the Mud”, by Brook Stewart.

I love that a lot of the patterns in the new Birthday Boy Collection are so versatile that you can use them for so many other projects besides just birthdays! The masculine colors went perfectly with these photos of my little guy playing in mud. With 2 boys, I can see I’ll be using this line for so many things!

My favorite part of this layout has to be the Designer Tapes. The new Punch Chevron that coordinates with the Birthday Girl line is the perfect "pop" on any project. Use them to frame a photo, a pattern paper, or to simple anchor a focal piece like the "be so happy" piece from the Cute Cuts paper.
