I just love fall collections because fall colors are some of my absolute favorites. The new Thankful collection does not disappoint. I'm naturally drawn to all of the colors in this collection, as they are the colors that are found all through my home and in the clothes that I wear. So I know that I will be using the Thankful papers on all sorts of projects.

A Few Updates

How exciting does Sneak Peek Week sound?!?! Patriotic Week Challenge: Layouts and Cards

Welcome back to one more day of patriotic projects from our design team! Hopefully you didn't get your fill of red, white, and blue yesterday, because we have a few more layouts and cards to share with you. We DO, however, hope you had an awesome 4th of July and enjoyed your day with family and friends!

I really pulled in a lot of my favorite collections for this page of my daughter. I used Midterm, Mr. Boy, and Family Dynamics to create a patriotic page that completely matches the bold personality of my daughter. One of my favorite papers is the Petite pieces with all the great text. A simple, and easy way to dress up the edges of my page. I also cut up the playing cards on the back side of Game night. I thought this was a fun way to add movement across the middle of the page, and create a fun border embellished with stars, Finally, the Patriotic stick pins were the perfect accent to my page.

I always say how versatile Bella's paper collections are and I think this layout might be a good example of this. I used papers and embellishments from four different collections to complete this layout. I was excited to find all the little extras from the Chit Chat and Icons chipboard that were a perfect match for my layout. Who knew Bella had a patriotic collection, right? So start looking through your Bella stash, because I'm sure you can come up with a great patriotic layout too!

Patriotic Week Feature: Layouts

We have a few more patriotic layouts to share with you today. Both layouts use a fun mix of red, white, and blue products from many of our collections. Make sure to stop by tomorrow, on the 4th of July, when we will release our July, patriotic themed, project sheet!

"Red, White, And Kaboom", by Melissa Stinson.

I love a good opportunity to play with red, white, and blue color combinations, and for this page I dug deep into the Bella "archives" to pull up a few papers from older lines (Socialite and Family Dynamix, anyone?) to use along with the new Surf n Turf blue from the latest Sophisticates additions. I dressed up the chipboard alpha title a bit by first stamping over it using Versamark ink, then heat embossing with blue powder to create a trendy chevron effect. Sometimes when you want a different look with the supplies you have on hand, it really pays to mix collections and alter items to fit your needs.

“Star Art”, by Vivian Masket.

I loved working on today's layout, and pulling out lots of beautiful tone-on-tone papers, including Sprinkles & Lace paper from the Sophisticates collection, in reds, whites, and blues. This layout was a snap to create using star punches and the already-coordinated products. I created four layered star embellishments using three different sizes of star punches and pop dots, added a title and some flags, my journaling block, and finished the layout with a star button for a touch of whimsy.

Patriotic Week Feature: Red/White/Blue Challenge

Welcome back to day two of our Patriotic Week feature. Today we are putting out a red, white, and blue challenge! While Bella doesn't have an actual "Patriotic" collection, I think you will find that there are more red, white, and blue products within all of our collections that you even realize. I challenged a few of our designers to dig around in their Bella stash, and pull out products that would work for their patriotic projects.

"100% Aussie", by Kim Arnold.

Once I started looking for red, white and blue products, I was blown away by how much choice there was in the Bella Blvd collections. Who could go past the gorgeous star buttons and flags as the perfect finishing touches. I love this Australia Day layout – it is just so fun, bright and funky.

I love how versatile Bella's patterned paper lines are. In this page I combined the Mr. Boy and Make the Team lines to create this Fourth of July page. I used the traditional red, white and blue color palette with just a tiny bit of yellow for a pop of color. The 3D stars were cut with the Silhouette and add to the theme of the page. Bits of chipboard and washi finish off this bold design.

“Happy 4th of July” card, by Gail Hoecker.

If you look closely, you'll see the base of the card is a tone-on-tone embossed paper which I made. I used the Mr. Boy Stars stamp and embossed them with Versamark and white embossing powder on white cardstock. A fun, easy technique to use with your stamps.

“Happy Independence Day” card, by Gail Hoecker.

I keep threatening (myself) to get out my floss and stitch, and I finally did it! I outlined the stars with the stitching and popped the smaller of the two up on the card. I used the Sophisticates Petite Pieces for the "Independence." I love those pieces, they can be used for journaling, embellishments or just cut the word out and use it in a title, so versatile!

Patriotic Week Feature: Canada Day

Happy Canada Day to all of our Canadian friends! With Canada Day and the 4th of July both being celebrated this week, we thought it would be fun to have a patriotic themed week here on the Bella blog. Our design team members have been searching our products in reds, whites, and blues to use on their projects this week. Today, we are going to start with some altered projects perfect for Canada Day.

Canada Day Home Decor, by Jennifer Edwardson.

I've seen so many fabulous mantle projects over the years but have yet to tackle my own … until now! There are several pieces to this collection of red & white for Canada Day and it was so fun to put together. I'm excited to have it out for many July 1st celebrations over the coming years!

I love the dimension a container of wool balls can add to any décor. I painted a plain wooden box white and created some white, red and mixed balls. They needed a little something so I created some cardstock Canada flags from scratch and tucked one into the front.

Using some fun red & white Bella Blvd papers, I made a few different sized paper flowers and added a maple leaf to the center of each. I took a favorite phrase from our national anthem and used different Bella alphas to spell it into the frame.

I wanted to add some height to coordinate with the largest frame, so I added twine, designer tape, buttons and custom flags to a couple of red & white candles – love them!

This frame was fun as I bordered the mat using designer tape and added a few maple leafs cut from Bella paper.

It was hard for me to pick a favorite piece but this one may be it. I am ALWAYS collecting frames (much to my husband's dismay) so I was excited to see that I had the perfect one in my stash for this fun piece. I printed the outline of a map of Canada onto a piece of Sophisticates and precison cut it out. I adhered it to a mat and added it to this great red & white striped frame!

The last frame took the most time to create but i LOVE how it all came together. I used several of the red alphas from different Bella collections mixed with typed computer print matted on cardstock to have our national anthem in full in this frame – this makes me happy :))

Canada Day Hat, by Marie-Josée Hamel.

This is a quick and easy project I created for Canada Day. I had my husband buy me a hat at the dollar store, and I altered it with flowers I created with Bella Blvd patterned papers, in red and white. I also used some Family Dynamix letter stickers on a white banner and thin strips of paper that I rolled around a pencil to add a bit of interest to the whole thing. I then used some Terrifically Tacky Tape to adhere all those pieces to the hat. Here's my cute little daughter wearing the hat!
