Fridays With Me ;) (Stephanie)

Ciao Ciao peeps! It's a wonderful day around here as our crates are officially on their way to California! We leave in less than a week and we still have so much to show you and reveal on the blog! Have you loved what you've seen so far??? Did you tell your favorite LSS about the new Bella goodies?

Well, today I wanted to share with you my favorite (I think) embellishment that we are releasing at CHA. I peeked it here on the blog a couple weeks ago.....

You've seen them popping up everwhere! Washi and patterend tapes are all the rage in scrapbooking and paper crafting! Now you can match your favorite colors & products with these trendy Designer Tapes by Bella Blvd! Availale in 8 different styles and 2 different widths, these Designer Tapes include versatile designs like sweet polkadots, hip chevron and more!

So I'm not going to lie when I say, "OMG they are so cute, packaged these petite little clear boxes and the cores are printed with 'Bella Blvd' on the inside!" They just make me so super duper happy I can't stand it!

Here's the eight different patterns, all matching Bella's signature bright & happy color palette! So these four styles are .25" in width. Each roll has 30 feet of tape!!

"Spring Time Friends"

I'm always so excited and impressed when I receive the projects created by the DT shortly after the samples arrive. This is a perfect example because Laura mixed and matched so much new stuff all together....flags, Spring chipboard, Designer Tapes, new Sophisticates elements ..... I just love it!

Love the ripping and layering of the taples here.....and also how Laura used the Blue Gingham tape as a "background" strip for her title block. Do you see it under the title "S-P-R-I-N-G"?

Sneak Peek Week: We're Expecting

How are you enjoying our sneak peeks so far? We have loved reading all the positive responses, and excited comments from all of you. It's hard not to just show you everything at once. It's more fun to spread out the excitement though, right ;) So far, we have shown you the Baby Boy collection and the Baby Girl collection. I think the addition of the We're Expecting mini series is such a fabulous idea! I love that the patterned papers, the stickers, and the chipboard all coordinate perfectly with both the Baby Boy collection and the Baby Girl collection. You can easily pull items together, to coordinate both your pregnancy layouts and your baby layouts.

Sneak Peek Week: Baby Girl Collection

Welcome to day three of our two week long Sneak Peek Week feature! I know a lot of you have been waiting for this reveal, since seeing Monday's collection. You knew we couldn't have a new Baby Boy collection, without having a Baby Girl collection, that was was just adorable and cute ;)

I am a HUGE button addict, and have been for years. Buttons have always been one of my most used embellishments, and I have never met a button I didn't like. So I was really excited to see that Stephanie had added buttons to the Bella product collection. I love the fun mix of shapes, colors, and sizes. I couldn't resist using a fun mix of the plastic and wood buttons on this layout, sprinkling them up and down the page.

I love that Stephanie has added buttons to the already amazing Bella product lineup. With such a great variety of designs they will work with so many of the collections and are great for any crafty project you might have in mind. I just adore this new Baby Boy collection! The color combo is so colorful and fun, with touches of blue, green, yellow, orange, brown, and even a bit of grey. And there are so many great patterns that can be used in everyday layouts, even if you don't have a baby boy to scrap about. I think one of my favorite pieces in this collection is the adorable chipboard monkey! And he's holding up one of Bella's newest embellishments ;)

We are so excited about our newest embellishment, Flags! Flags are such a big trend in scrapbooking right now, and Stephanie has come up with an entire collection of these adorable flags! Each package contains 3 flags, with pearl topped stick pins. The flags themselves are 1.25" wide, and 5/8" tall, with 1.5" stick pins. You will see quite a few of them revealed with our new collections, and then we will have an entire day where we will reveal the entire collection.

On-Going Guest Designers: Sarah Klemish & Kryssi Ng

Back in September, when we were choosing our new Design Team, we had a group of talented designers that we just couldn't pass up. So we added a special team of On-going Guest Designers, that will joining us here on the blog throughout the year, along with the rest of our Design Team. Each month, we will feature two of these designers, which means they'll each be joining us three times over the next year. I'm excited to introduce you to our next set of fabulous designers, Sarah Klemish and Kryssi Ng.

In the scrapbook world I am known as “Sarahak”, in the real world I am Sarah Klemish (wife, mother, daughter, sister). I still remember the first Creative Memories class I took 10 years ago – cardstock and pictures cut in funky shapes! I still treasure those layouts but since then my style has changed. I am typically what is known as a “simple” scrapper. Straight lines, white space and sewing, that sums it up. I am currently designing for Creative Memories (talk about coming full circle)! I have been published in Scrapbook Trends and was on the Better Homes and Gardens Scrapbook Etc. team for a year. I still do work for Scrapbooks Etc. and get published with them regularly. Love the hobby, love the people and love being asked to participate on fun projects! Thanks Bella Blvd! 

"Max Lovely", by Sarah Klemish.

My oldest son Max was thrilled to have to put on a suit for his Aunt’s wedding (and I am not being sarcastic – he WAS excited). Of course I had to get some shots of him looking so handsome and grown up! I am totally obsessed with black cardstock these days. I love how it makes the Bella colors pop and it works great with all the lines. Here I started with the black background and then center a piece of white cardstock on that. Then I pulled out the Lovey Dovey collection and got to work.

I then covered half of the white cardstock with a piece of the Bear Hugs paper – the fun word search graph side!  After adding the picture I cut a corner out of the Love Is In The Air paper and sewed it to the corner. I added a heart sticker to the corner.  

I then ran a border of the Borders N Blocks paper across the bottom of the center papers, overlapping the picture. I pop dotted a border sticker directly under my photo. I added 3 of the Cute Cuts flowers to the left of my picture. I used pop dots to add the Cute cuts heart. I added the title using Simply Simona Chipboard Letters (Oyster).  Buttons, journaling strips…done.

"Raindrops", by Sarah Klemish.

I really have been taking a walk down memory lane and scrapping some older pictures of my kids. In these pictures my son Max (who is now almost 14) was enjoying a late summer rain at his cousins. You know at this age (4) any reason to get out the umbrella is a good thing! The Spring Flings & Easter Things collection was perfect for this layout! I started with a neutral background and basically centered my layout on that. After adding a block of graph paper I added two 4x6 photos (cutting one down slightly and overlapping on the full size picture). I then added a thick strip of the Mom’s Bouquet paper (rounding the top left corner only), overlapping the two pictures. Up top I pop dotted a turquoise scallop sticker running the length of the graph paper. I then added a red heart (with pop dots) from the Cute Cuts paper on to the border. 

After cutting a circle from the Sunny Sunday paper and adhering it to the left side of my main picture, I added (with pop dots) the cute frog from the Cute Cuts paper. Using pop dots (can you tell I love them!) I added the “Raindrops falling on my head” sticker from the Alpha + Bits Stickers. To complete the layout I added a few journaling strips and some clear buttons!

"It's Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas", by Sarah Klemish.

I love this older picture of my son visiting our local Santa house with his preschool class - notice not one of the kids is looking at the camera! Typical and so funny. I love the fun whimsical feel of the Christmas Wishes line! I really wanted the focus to be on the picture so I made it extra large! Above the picture I sewed two blue strips cut from the stripe. I then added the “December 25” sticker tab with pop dots.  Under the picture I used the “It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas” sticker from the Alpha + Bits Stickers (cutting the word “Christmas” from the sticker and adding pop dots). 

I used the chipboard “Christmas” letters from the Chipboard Icons to complete the title (pop dotting the chipboard heart to dot the “I”). After adding a pop dotted yellow scalloped sticker (Spring Flings and Easter Things Alpha + Bits Stickers) and red stripe sticker (Winter Wonderland Alpha + Bits Stickers) under my title I added a pop dotted chipboard Christmas tree! Super fast and easy (and I love that I was able to use 2 non-Christmas Bella lines on a Christmas layout)!

I live in NYC with my husband and two little girls. I started doodling and drawing at a young age and pursued an education in fine arts. That lifelong passion eventually led me into the world of paper crafting and graphic designing. Most of my waking hours are dedicated to tending to my family but on the small window of free time on some days -- you can find me in my room making cards (and sometimes scrapbooking a layout) or tinkering around with Photoshop/Illustrator. Anything but cleaning!

"Birthday Wishes" card, Kryssi Ng.

I love pretty much all the Cute Cuts in the Bella Blvd lines. As a cardmaker primarily, it's a quick and easy solution when I'm in a rut or in a rush. The images are all ready to use, just snip and adhere onto a card base. I love the bright, happy colors against a plain white card. Simple and charming! I added a bit of twine on the handle to give it a bit of deptth of texture.

"Get Well Soon" card, by Kryssi Ng.

For this card, I focused on making a more masculine card. There are so many beautiful browns and blues in the Winter Wonderland line, piecing together the coordinating papers was simple enough. I just had to throw in a red twine to finish off the card! Brown, aqua and red is one of my favorite go-to color combinations!

"Happy Winter" card, by Kryssi Ng.

I'm not much of a layer-er. I like my cards clean and simple, and a little graphic. Love the graphic geometric patterns found in this collection -- works really well in backgrounds for cards! The trees were cut out and adhered. Red bling finished off this card.

"Remember", by Kryssi Ng.

Layouts are always a challenge for me, I admit! But still, I make a huge attempt at it anyway! :) I tried to go messy, but the OCD in me ended up aligning things and making sure every splatter was perfect. In the end, I kinda like it -- and I love the bright colors that the Winter Wonderland lines added to my muted photo.

Sketches On Saturdays & Inspiration Day

First up, we have another round of Saturday Sketches. Twice a month, we'll be bringing you a new sketch, and showing you a few takes on the sketch by our designers. Today, we have our second sketch of the month. 

"Winter Wonderful", by Sue Mylde.

A fun sketch and a great way to put in multiple photos in one layout. With this layout, I wanted to add more embellishments and a stronger paint and mist base. I love playing with paints and mists and I wanted to create a more interesting background on the white cardstock base. Winter Wonder is PERFECT for all these fun snowy photos!

"I Love Winter", by Vivian Masket.

I love how easy it was to work with this sketch! I rotated the design 90 degrees to the left, which put the scalloped border at the bottom of the photos. I used two photos instead of three and added my journaling below the scalloped border. I used a patterned paper block for the title and additional patterned paper in place of the journaling. I used one of my favorite quick and easy techniques with the tag stickers: I switched the tiny circles in the tag holes and used them for pops of color instead of brads.

"Cupcake Cutie", by Allyson Meinholz.

I love working with sketches - makes it easy to scrapbook and I feel accomplished. I decided to add a larger photo in place of the journaling block and to use the focus as the 5x7 photo in color. This layout is of Alivia Jo's 1st birthday (cupckae themed) - usually I do multiple layouts for birthdays especially the first birthday, so it is nice to slip a few sketches in the mix.

Next up, we have what is called Tuesday Inspiration day, here on the Bella blog. That's because most of the time, you will find this up on Tuesdays. We have so much planned for you next week, that we had to move this up a few days. Inspiration is all around us, and it's so interesting to see how a group of designers can all start with the same image, and be inspired by it in so many different ways.

"Eight Today", by Katherine McElvain.

For Delaney's eighth birthday I made dirt cups for each child at the party and decorated them with Bella Blvd product to personalize them. When I saw the inspiration for this assignment I knew it was a great opportunity to match up some Bella Blvd product with this photo. Looking at the photo, right away I thought circles, so I made a circle pattern on half the layout using the grid paper (unexpectedly made it easy to line things up) from Family Dynamics and some older heart paper from Sweet Celebrations. I mimicked the the sorbet cups and strawberries with stitched red circles and little chipboard flowers from Family Dynamics. Maybe I should include some Bella products in more of my photos, it makes it easy to make it all come together:)

"2011", by Lynn Ghahary.

I love the idea of looking back at the past year 'at a glance' so I decided to create a year in review layout for this assignment. I die cut a really large title using my Silhouette using different Bella Blvd papers in colors from the inspiration image. I also added some stickers in the same color scheme - I just love those Miniatures Stickers!

"Popcorn Love", by Nancy Damiano.

I love bold color schemes, so I was excited to work with this beautiful palette. The icy blue and white make it crisp and clean. The golden yellow and red reminded me of these pictures of my son at his first baseball game. I remember how he loved the popcorn almost more than the game!  One of the things that I love about Bella, is the ability to mix and match their patterned papers. I mixed paper and embellishments from 5 different lines to come up with this page. I also created a shadow effect by cutting out a star from the red paper, backing it with pop dots and filling it with stickers. This added a fun element and some texture to the page.

"Joyful", by Jamie Harper.

I LOVE the inspiration for this month. The color combo is so fresh and full of life. I knew I wanted to match the energy of the colors with an action photo, so I chose this photo from Disneyland. I asked my son to give me a quote to put on the layout, and I added lots of description words. I love how so many lines can be mixed and matched, it makes pulling together products so easy, and it turn makes for fast and easy scrapbooking.

As the snow is falling here for the very first time (believe it or not) … I’m so excited to pop in and chat with you today! We’re supposed to get 8 inches of snow!

Remember these Quattrofina^TM Cardstock stickers from our last release product release?

“Quattro” is how you pronounce the number four in the Italian language. Because there were four different alphabets on the sticker sheet we named them Quattrofina. I don’t think I can tell you how popular they were … the fact that we are sold out of every single color should tell you something, right?!

Because you loved them so much, we have new and improved alphabet stickers, named High Five Alphabets! Here’s a peek:

For years I’ve wanted to develop more products, but I had to wait until the time was right. Well, guess what my friends? I don’t have any kids of my own, but I am an Auntie to four different nephews. It’s a busy household, but only when I borrow them or if they come and visit while their Mommy and Daddies go out for date night. "Love You" card, by Deanna Misner.

I really love the cute animal cut-outs that come with some of the Bella collections, and I really wanted to feature this cute little frog. So I used him as my "prince" for this Valentines Day card, which shhhh! I plan to give my hubby. ;)

"Bee Mine" card, by Deanna Misner.

Using another one of those cute animal cut-outs, I used the common "Bee Mine" phrase to create yet another Valentine. He's popped up along with the hand-cut hearts to give the card more interest and depth among the hexagons.

"Wood You be Mine" card, by Deanna Misner.

And one of my favorite things about Valentine cards are that they let you be as cheesy as you want to be! It makes them that much more fun! SO, I used a play on words with "Wood" and some of my Bella stash to create this fun little card that could be for a boy or a girl.

"I Love You" card, by Morgan Bandkowski.

I love to hand stitch on my cards & layouts. One of my fellow scrapbookers had the We R Memory Sew Easy Stitch Piercer (Hearts) so I gave it a whirl on the bottom of my card. It adds a little heart detail to a simple card. I can't wait to send these cards out for Valentines Day! Or I could use them for a Wedding or Anniversary!

I decide to make some Love/Valentines Day Cards since Christmas & New Years is over with. I love working with the Sophisticates line! It is so versatile. I teach a monthly Quick Cards Class at my local scrapbook store, so I am always trying to show people how to use a few items to make a great card.
