Can you believe it's May already? Here at Bella we're still waiting for the Spring weather to show up! Those of you that are lucky enough to enjoy sunshine should be thankful ;) I'm excited to launch this week's blog theme, Mom's Week! We have so much planned including gift ideas, Mother's Day cards, layout challenges and more, all in hopes to say thanks to all your moms and scrapbookers, and of course to prompt your creativity too!
Today to kick off Mom's Week we've got some gift ideas from Wendy Lee & Laura Vegas. If you've already found the perfect gift, personalize it with a cute, handmade gift tag! Wendy used her Cricut and Bella's Sophisticates products to create these darling little tags! (Cricut cartidges: Cindy Loo & Sweet Treats)
And Laura Vegas has a great handmade Candy & Gift Jar that includes some real treats. What mom wouldn't love some chocolates from the people she loves? From Laura herself....
I have one of those mom's who is really hard to buy for. I never know what to get her for her birthday or Mother's Day. I tend to give her gift cards, because then I know she can get something she truly wants. Gift cards aren't as fun to open (compared to wrapped gifts & pretty gift bags), so I found a new favorite way to deliver them: In a cute little decorated jar, tucked with lots of yummy chocolates.
I started out by using my trimmer to cut tons of 1.4" x 12" strips if one style of patterned paper. (I used the Bear Hugs paper from Bella's Lovey Dovey Collection). I then cut each strip in half, and curled them with a pair of scissors. I placed these in the bottom of the jar to act as a filler since I only had one bag of chocolates to fill the jar.
For the chocolates I bought a bag of Hershey's Milk Chocolate Nuggets. I knew the silver wrappers would look great with thew papers I planned to use. I pulled out four different sheets of Lovey Dovey papers and cut a ton of 1"x3" pieces from each. I put a little adhesive on each end of the patterned papers & wrapped them around the chocolates.
Then, I added the chocolates to the jar, tossing them on top of the filler papers.
I tucked a Target gift card right in the chocolates, sot hat it was peeking out the top.
To decorate the jar lid, I took apart a few of the Blooms A Bellatm flowers so that I could mix some of the colors together. I layered some turquoise, pink & white petals together, and then added a threaded green button to the center.
To finish the jar I added a simple "You're My Favorite" sticker, along with some letter stickers to spell "MOM" (these are the Quattrofina alphabet stickers from the Sophisticates collection.)
What a super cute idea!! I absolutely love this. This week is teacher appriciation week and I just might have to hurry and make some of these up!!

Is the candy jar from one of the craft storage companies - I think it might be making memories ? I saw some at Tuesday Morning - super cheap - might have to go back and hope there are more. This is a great idea !!
